The IPL 2026 has always been a stage where young cricketers announce themselves against the biggest names in the game, and Friday’s contest in Hyderabad produced another memorable moment. During the high-scoring encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), one particular breakthrough from emerging pacer Sakib Hussain quickly became one of the biggest talking points of the evening.
The youngster later opened up about the special moment after the match and admitted that it was something he had always dreamt about achieving in his cricket journey.
Sakib Hussain opens up after taking the prized scalp of Virat Kohli
Sakib revealed after the match that the Hyderabad bowlers had prepared specific plans based on the nature of the Uppal pitch. According to the young pacer, the surface was holding slightly, making slower deliveries an effective option during the powerplay.
The breakthrough eventually came during the sixth over of the innings when Virat Kohli struggled to fully control a change of pace from Sakib. The dismissal immediately sparked loud celebrations from the youngster, who later described it as his “dream wicket” during the post-match interaction.
Sakib credited the support staff and bowling unit for helping him execute the plan properly against one of the modern greats of the game. The emotional reaction after the wicket also reflected how significant the moment was for the emerging fast bowler.

SRH overpower RCB in batting spectacle
Apart from Sakib’s breakthrough, Hyderabad completely dominated the contest with the bat. SRH produced another fearless batting performance and piled up a massive 255/4 after being asked to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. RCB’s bowlers struggled throughout the innings as Hyderabad’s aggressive top order maintained pressure from the powerplay itself. In reply, Bengaluru attempted to stay in the chase but eventually finished on 200/4 after 20 overs.
Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 56 off 22 balls laid the perfect foundation for SRH, before Ishan Kishan anchored the innings with a brilliant 79 off 46 deliveries, and Heinrich Klaasen’s unbeaten 51 off 24 provided the finishing touch. However, the spotlight eventually shifted towards Sakib, whose breakthrough against Kohli quickly became one of the defining visuals of the night.
