Ravindra Jadeja delivered a memorable performance on Friday (November 1) in the third Test between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The left-arm spinner, showcasing his impeccable control and experience, ripped through New Zealand’s batting lineup to claim his 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. His stellar spell concluded with a remarkable dismissal of Matt Henry for a first-ball duck, sealing a commanding position for India. This s??pell was not just crucial in the context of the match but also significant in Jadeja’s journey, as he surpassed milestones that placed him among India’s all-time g??reats.

Challenging conditions for New Zealand at the start

Winning the toss and opting to bat, New Zealand entered with confidence but quickly faced difficulties on a pitch that began to show signs of wear from the first session. The surface offered both turn and bounce, with a variable pace that kept Indian spinners interested. Three early wickets fell in the morning session, though Jadeja remained wicketless as he found his rhythm. Despite the conditions, New Zealand’s Will Young and Daryl Mitchell seeme??d to stabilize the innings, building an 87-run stand and showing ??signs of a comeback. However, this effort was short-lived as Jadeja began his lethal spell after lunch, dismantling the Blackcaps lineup.

Ravindra Jadeja’s spell: A perfectly timed breakthrough and a five-wicket Haul

Jadeja’s first breakthrough came at a crucial juncture. The experienced left-arm spinner broke the threatening stand between Young and Mitchell, with Young pushing forward to a delivery that turned just enough to kiss the edge and land safely in slip’s hands. This opening wicket seemed to unlock Jadeja’s full potential. Just three balls later, he bowled a stunning delivery to wicketkeeper-batter Tom Blundell, pitching on middle and leg and turning to take the top of off stump. Not long after, he added Glenn Phillips to his tally, dismissing him with a straighter ball that darted in to crash into the stumps. By tea, Jadeja’s three-wicket haul had d??ented New Zealand’s progress, shifting momentum firmly in India’s favor.

Returning in the third session, Jadeja showed no signs of slowing down. He dismissed Ish Sodhi and Henry in the same over, marking his second double-wicket over of the day. This fifth wicket marked yet another impactfu??l performa?nce from the all-rounder, underscoring his value in the Indian lineup with a sublime five-wicket haul.

Jadeja’s record-breaking milestones

With these dismissals, Jadeja crossed the 311-wicket milestone in Tests, surpassing Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma to become the fifth-highest wicket-taker for India in Test history. Additionally, he matched the legendary Bishan Singh Bedi’s tally of 14 five-wicket hauls, achieved in 118 ??innings compared to Jadeja??’s 145, demonstrating his prowess in India’s bowling legacy. He also became India’s highest wicket-taking left-arm bowler, marking a historic achievement. Jadeja’s performance was a testament to his skill and experience, reinforcing his standing as one of India’s premier Test match-winners. His brilliant spell left New Zealand struggling to recover, showcasing the impact of his return to form.

betvisa888 cricket betZaheer Khan – Cricket Times - betvisa live //betvisa68.com/2024/08/albie-morkel-backs-brother-morne-as-team-indias-bowling-coach/ Wed, 21 Aug 2024 07:51:25 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=151187

Albie Morkel, the former South African all-rounder, has expressed his immense pride and excitement over his brother, Morne Morkel, being appointed as the bowling coach of the Indian cricket team. In an exclusive interview with Mid-day, Albie shared his thoughts on Morne’s new role and the challenges he may face.

Albie Morkel highlights significance of coaching India’s bowling attack

Albie acknowledged the immense pressure that Morne would be under but expressed ??confidence in his ability to handle the challenge.

He emphasized the significance of coaching the Indian cricket team, stating, “It goes without saying that being on the Indian team’s coaching staff is probably the biggest responsibility or coaching job out there. The passion for the sport and the success that the team had in the past makes it a job with no room for error. He will be surrounded by some very good players who have achieved a lot, so I guess, for him, it’s a matter of earning their trust and believe that he can help to reach their full potential day in and day out.”

Admiring Indian bowling talents

When asked about the Indian bowlers, both past and present, that Morne might admire, Albie mentioned Zaheer Khan and Jasprit Bumrah.

He praised Bumrah’s exceptional skills adding, “Jasprit is the best all-format bowler in the world. He is very special and I’m sure Morne would love to work with him.”

Balancing technique and mental aspect

Albie stressed the importance of finding the right balance between technical guidance and mental support for bowlers. He acknowledged the evolving nat?ure of the game and the need for bowlers to focus on both asp??ects. Albie highlighted the significance of mental strength in sustaining longevity in the sport.

“It’s a fine line between being too technical and what’s right. I think the game has changed so much over the last decade. Younger bowlers or bowlers who struggle with injuries probably need more technical work, and after that it’s about fine tuning what you have. The mental aspect becomes very important then to sustain longevity,” said Albie.

Experience and communication skills

While Albie hasn’t worked closely with Morne on a coaching level, he believes that his vast experience in various bowling situations will be invaluable. He emphasized the importance of Morne effectively communicating his knowledge and insights to the Indian bowlers.

Albie told “I haven’t worked with him on that level, but what he has is a lot of experience in most situations that the bowlers might encounter. If he applies that in his coaching and find ways to communicate that in a way that makes sense, he will add a lot of value.”

Albie concluded by expressing his hope for Morne’s success in his new role. He believes that Morne’s expertise and dedication will make a significant contribution to the Indian cricket team’s continued success.
