Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah ripped apart the Windies batting line-up on Day 2 of the second and final Test at Kingston, Jamaica. He recorded a hat-trick ??and picked up six of the se??ven wickets as the hosts collapsed to 87 for 7.

After the pacer took a hat-trick, former West Indies cricketer-turned-commentator Ian Bishop spoke about some critics expressing their doubts over the legality of Bumrah’s bowling action. Former India batsman Sunil Gavaskar, who was also present in the commentary box along with Bishop, said such people should seriously “get a life.”

On Sunday, the 25-year?-old became the third Indian? cricketer to claim a hat-trick in Test cricket.

“I cannot believe some people questioning the legality of Jasprit Bumrah’s action,” Ian Bishop said during his commentary.

“His action is unique but is well within the rules of the game. In fact, it’s one of the cleanest ones. Some people really need to look in the mirror,” he added.

“Can you name them? Who are these people questioning Bumrah’s action?”

“Let’s look at it closely. A few steps and then he gathers momentum and finally releases the ball with a straight arm. Now tell me at what point his arm is bent? It’s perfectly fine. People should really get a life.”

The three successive wickets of Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, and Roston Chase helped Bumrah achieve the historic feat.

Post the two-match Test series win against the Windies, skipper Virat Kohli showered heaps of praise on middle-order batsman Hanum??a Vihari.

Vihari emerged? as the leading run-scorer of the series with ??289 runs in four innings.

“I think the find of the series has to be Hanuma Vihari. The way he has batted under pressure especially. On a much more challenging wicket here in Jamaica than in Antigua, his skill sets were outstanding, his temperament and technique were top notch and he countered everything the opposition threw at him. Very very pleased with the way he has come about,” Kohli told reporters.

Prior to this, the Indian captain had also g?iven him due credit at the post-match presentation cere??mony.

“Hanuma was the stand-out batsman in this game. According to the surface, it was a top-class innings from him. He is someone who is sure of his game and it shows. The dressing room feels calm when he’s batting. That’s a quality he possesses naturally.”

“He (Hanuma) is willing to improve. He accepts and corrects his mistakes and plays with a lot of heart. Always up to do anything for the team. It’s a very young career so far but he’s shown why he’s been backed and selected in this team,” Kohli added.

After India’s thumping 257-run triumph over the West Indies in the second Test, the 30-year-old went past MS Dhoni to become the most successful Indian Test captain.

“It (the victory) was pretty comprehensive again. Played really good cricket over four days. Getting the result in a manner that you want is crucial. We were in some tricky situations. Took a lot of character from the boys collectively,” sai?d t?he overjoyed No. 1 Test batsman in the world.

In-form Virat Kohli could well be on his way to achieving a remarkable feat during India’s first Test in Antigua starting from Thursday, August 22.

Kohli, who has currently notched up 18 Test centuries as India captain, needs one more to be at par with Ricky Ponting’s tally of 19 Test centuries as skipper.

National colors have to be earned, it’s something Sunil Gavaskar, the first batsman to reach 10,000 runs in Tests learned early in his life with the sense instilled by his maternal uncle and former cricketer Madhav Mantri.??

Joy Bhattacharya, the Kolkata Knight Riders director talked about an incident that typified the lesson learnt by Gavaskar as a young cricketer. He said, “Sunil Gavaskar was a commentator on the Indian tour of the West Indies in 2002. One of our younger cricketers had a fairly active night of passion and the lady involved demanded and got one of his India caps as a prize. A day later, she went to sign it from Sunny Gavaskar. He had one look at the cap and asked where she got it from. She refused to tell till he threatened to call the police and have her arrested. After he got the name, he stormed into the team bus, something he never does, and told the player in question exactly what he thought of the incident, and why he should be ashamed to ever wear an India cap again. Forget that poor man, in five minutes, the entire bus learned more about what playing for India meant than a thousand lectures.”
