West Indies have had a rough?? outing in the last three ??months or so. The Caribbean side could only secure a couple of wins in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after starting the mega event with a thumping victory over Pakistan. After that, they lost the ODI and T20I series against India.

Now, it has been confirmed that Kieron Pollard will be the new West Indies’ captain in white-ball cricket. He will replace Jason Holder as ODI captain and Carlos Brathwaite as T20I captain.

While announcing Pollard as the new white-ball captain, Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Ricky Skerritt, on Monday, said: “We believe Kieron Pollard is the right person at the right time now to lead the West Indies team in white-ball cricket”.

Skerrit, however, said that Jason Hold??er would continue to lead West Indies in Test cricket.

“Jason Holder is a very important force, and he is still going to be our red ball captain,” Skerrit said.

The 32-year-old Pollard last played an ODI in 2016. He was kept in the reser?ves for the 2019 World Cup and then featured in the T20Is against India.

The big-hitting all-rounder has so far played 101 ODIs, in which he has scored 2,289 runs at an average of 25.71 with three centuries and nine fifties. He has also claimed 50 wickets in t?he 50-over format. In T20Is, he has played 62 matches, scoring 903 runs at an average of 21.50 and has scalped 23 wickets.

Pollard’s first assignment as a limited-overs captain will begin from November 5, when Windies face Afghanistan, for a full-series in Dehradun. Both the sides will compete in three T20Is, three ODIs, and one Test.
