The Warner Park in St. Kitts saw an epic encounter between West Indies women and Bangladesh Women in the 1st T20I of the 3-match series. The key highlight of the contest was when West Indies ace spinner Afy Fletcher sent Sobhana Mostary back to? the pavilion at a crucial point of the m??atch turning the course of the game on its head.

Afy Fletcher outsmarts Sobhana Mosatry with a beauty

The incident occurred as Bangladesh Women won the toss and elected to bat first on a solid-looking surface. However, their hopes of reaching a competitive total got the first hit as opener Dilara Akter was dismissed by West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews in the 4th over of the game.

The other opener, Mosatry, attempted to develop a partnership with top-order batter Sharmin Akhter in an attempt to regain the run-scoring momentum. Just when the partnership started to prosper, a full length delivery landed r?ight before Mosatry’s toes and took an extra bounce to straight away hit the pads. The umpire straight away gave the Bangladeshi opener out after an appeal from West Indies fielders. Thus, she had to head back to the pavilion, further hurting Bangladesh’s prospects.

In response, West Indies women completely dominated the Bangladesh bowling unit and completed the run chase in 16.5 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets. Matthews wreaked havoc on Bangladesh bowlers and forged a 60-run knock off 54 balls supported by a power-packed 51 from Deandra Dottin off just 22 deliveries w??ho was declared Player of the Match for her all-round abilities. West Indies women thus defeated Bangladesh women by 8 wickets with 19 balls left.
