Rohit Sharma’s bold decision to step aside

Rohit’s decision to opt out of the fifth Test came amid mounting criticism over his poor form in the BGT against Australia, where he managed just 31 runs across three Tests. Many pundits had questioned his place in the squad, with calls for a change in leadership gaining momentum. Explaining his choice, Rohit clarified that he was neither dropped nor rested but voluntarily stood down to allow in-form players, such as Shubman Gill, to step up for the crucial match. “It was about the team, not me. I wasn’t performing, and I felt the team needed someone in better form,” Rohit remarked in an interview.

Meanwhile, in a tightly contested encounter, Australia registered a 6-wicket victory over India in the 5th Test at Sydney as they managed to chase down the target of 162 runs, finishing at 162/4 in their second innings. Usman Khawaja (41) and Travis Head (34) anchored the chase, while Scott Boland’s 6-wicket haul played a pivotal ?role in restrict?ing India to 157 in their second innings.

India’s champion cricketer Yuvraj Singh will feature in the final episode of the famous show of Kaun Banega Crorepati on November 6.

It is being hosted by the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and the southpaw will be accompanied by Bollywood actress Vidya Balan.

On the KBC 9 sets, Yuvi got em?otional and cried while recalling the days of him fighting with ca?ncer which left everyone stunned.

We?? all know that Yuvraj was struggling with his health during the 2011 World Cup hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh together, but the fighting cricketer refused to give up and continued playing for h??is country.

Like every Indian player, he too had a single dream in his mind and that was to win the World Cup for his country and the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who served the Indian cricket immen?sely in his career.

Tears in Yuvraj’s eyes

Yuvi narrated his story of his fight with deadly cancer winding back the clocks to 2011 World C??up.

During the shoot, he said, “When I woke up after sleeping, little bit of red-coloured mucous came out and also the tumour of 14 centimetres but I kept on playing. My health started declining and eventually, the doctor suggested me that if I don’t take a treatment even now then it would be difficult for me to be alive. Due to that my game and health both became bad.”

Yuvi’s story made everyone emotional including him and the all-rounder could not stop himself from crying. All the spectators including Amitabh and Vidya were left teary-eyed after listening to his words.

She believes that cricketers have become more styl??ish since the beginning of the Indian Premier Le?ague.

“Cricketers have become more stylish since the IPL has come in. They have this additional pressure now. Earlier it was all focus on cricket,” Vidya was quoted as saying to India Today ahead of the opening match between RCB and SRH on Wednesday.

The beautiful actress also revealed that she is a big fan of the Mumbai Indians. Kolkata Knight Riders is her second favourite team not only because of Shah Rukh Khan but because of the Bengal connect.

Vidya said “I love Lasith Malinga. They have Harbhajan as well. The next best team for me is KKR and not just because it’s SRK’s team but (because of) the Bengal connect”

The National Award-winning actress also said that movies now look for release during IPL because it’s a great opportunity for promotion.

“Films now look for release during IPL because it’s a great promotion opportunity. Earlier, films avoided being released because of cricket.”

Vidya is a major cricke??t buff and her heart stops when India play against Pakistan but she is yet to watch a game in the stadium. However, that is on her wishlist.

“I have never managed to watch a game in a stadium so far but (I hope to do that) sometime in the future.”
