Defending their championship from the inaugural edition, India showcased an all-round performance in the final, beating South Africa by 9 wickets. The team’s journey was marked by sensational batting from Gongadi Trisha, who was pivotal with both bat and ball, scoring an unbeaten 44 in the final and taking 3 wickets for 15 runs.

The Indian side, led by Niki Prasad, was a well-oiled machine, with contributions from every corner – from Vaishnavi Sharma‘s 17 wickets to the consistent batting of G Kamalini and Aayushi Shukla. Gongadi Trisha shines with an exceptional century

India displayed exceptional form after electing to bat first at the Bayuemas Oval. The opening pair of G Kamalini and Gongadi Trisha provided a brilliant start, stitching together a formidable partnership. Kamalini anchored the innings with a well-made 51 off 42 balls, setting the tone for a big total.

Aayushi Shukla led the charge with an exceptional spell, claiming 4 wickets for just 12 runs in her 4 overs. Vaishnavi Sharma was equally impressive, bagging 3 wickets for 15 runs.

Vaishnavi Sharma’s claims maiden hat-trick for India

Vaishnavi’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary, as she finished her spell with impressive figures of 5 wickets for just 5 runs in 4 overs, including a maiden over. Her hat-trick marked a historic moment, making her the first Indian bowler to achieve this feat in the Women’s U19 T20 World Cup. The young spinner’s exceptional control and skill were evident as she dismantled the Malaysian batting lineup with precision.

The hat-trick came in the 14th over of the first innings. Vaishnavi claimed three consecutive wickets on the second, third and fourth ball of her last over. She dismissed Siti Nazwah, Nur Isma Dania and Nur Ain Binti Roslan, with two LBWs and a clean bowled, putting her team in a strong position.
