Put in to bat, Tornadoes started their innings well and went on to put up a decent score of 115/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Stafanie Taylor was the top scorer for the team with 24 runs off 17 balls, ?including 4 fours.

Chanida Sutthiruang and Aliya Riaz also made important contributions with the bat, scoring 12 and 19 runs, respectively. Shabnim Ismail was the?? pick of the bowlers for South Coast Sapp??hires, taking 2 wickets for just 8 runs in her 4 overs.

In their chase of 116, South Coast Sapphires failed to get going and were bundled out for just 60 runs in 14.2 overs. Chanida Sutthiruang and Sita Rana Magar were the stars with the ball for Tornadoes, taking 3 wickets e??ach and giving away just 22 and 17 runs, respectively.

The Fairbreak Global Women’s T20 2023 witnessed a double header on Sunday, April 09 at Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong where South Coast Sapphires met Tornadoes in the first game while Barmy Army faced Warriors in the seco??nd fixture.

The South Coast Sapphires secured a convincing victory in Match 10 of the T20 tournament. Put in to bat, the Sapphires posted a total of 95 runs for the loss of two wickets in just 7 overs. Katherine Brunt was the top scorer for the side with 35 runs off 16 balls, which included three sixes. Tash Farrant also played a crucial knock of 36 runs off 18 balls, featuring two sixes. Diana Baig was the most successful bowler for the Tornadoes with two wickets, conceding 23 runs? in two overs.

Chasing 96, the Tornadoes struggled to build momentum and eventually managed to reach only 59/5, losing the match by 36 runs. Sune Luus was the highest scorer for the Tornadoes, with 13 runs off 6 balls. The South Coast Sapphires Women’s bowling was disciplined and effective, with Tash Farrant taking three wickets f??or just 11 runs in two overs.

In the second fixture, Barmy Army went on to post 163/6 in their 20 over after being asked to bat. Deandra Dottin was the star of the innings with her brilliant knock of 69 runs off 48 balls, including 3 fours and 7?? sixes. Rumana Ahmed chipped in with her with 36 runs off 28 balls.

In reply, Warriors Women had a tough start, losing early wickets, but Hayley Matthews tried to keep the team’s hopes alive with a quick 28 runs off 18 balls, including 3 sixes. Kathryn Bryce contributed with 45 runs off just 26 balls, but they couldn’t chase down the target and were all out for 146 runs in 20 overs as Barmy Army won the match by 17 runs.

The Fairbreak Global Women’s T20 2023 started with a thrilling encounter between Falcons and Tornadoes at the Kowloon Cricket Club on Monday (April 3). Falcon?s emer?ged victorious in the contest and defeated Tornadoes by 41 runs.

Asked to bat first, Falcons started their innings on a shaky note, losing the opener Danielle Wyatt for a duck. However, Theertha Satish played a crucial knock of 57 off just 40 balls to stabilize the innings. Mariko Hill and Nannapat Koncharoenkai chipped in with valuable contributions to help the Falcons reach a respectable total of 150/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Meanwhile, Sune Luus and Winifred Duraisingam grabbed two wickets each for the Tornadoes.

In response, Tornadoes got off to a disastrous start, losing their top two batters for ducks. Luus fought hard and scored a brisk 48, but she did not receive enough support from the other end. Marizanne Kapp and Sornnarin Tippoch bowled brilliantly for the Falcons, picking up three wickets each, while Kaia Arua and Chamari Atapattu grabbed two and one wickets, respectively.

Tornadoes could only manage to score 109/9 in their allotted 20 overs, losing the match by 41 runs. Falcons’ bowlers were on top throughout the innings and did not let the opposition batters settle. Satish was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for her exceptional performance.

While Fa??lcons would be happy to start their campaign with a win, Tornadoes would be disappointed to lose their opening encounter and will eye their maiden win of the season in th?eir next match.
