Several players of the Indian cricket team have been at the center of intense scrutiny following their defeat to Australia, marking the end of a decade-long dominance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Among the key targets of criticism is Shubman Gill, whose persistent struggles with the bat emerged as one of the series’ defining low points. As pressure mounts for significant changes within the Indian team, Gill’s continued selection has become a contentious issue. Adding fuel to the fire, former Indian batter S. Badrinath has intensified the debate, delivering sharp and pointed criticism of Gill’s performances, taking the discourse to a whole new level.

S. Badrinath furious with Shubman Gill’s performance in BGT 2024-25

The young Indian top-order batter had a silent trip to Australia with the bat. The t?eam expected Gill to display temperament and disturb the wicket-taking rhythm of Australian bowlers. On the contrary, Gill became a walking wicket for the Aussies which further added pressure on middle order batters. As a result, the entire Indian batting unit suffered throughout the series.

Badrinath, while talking to Star Sports Tamil, pointed out several major issues in Gill’s batting and made ?a sensational remark on the youngster signalling that talent may not be the only reason for G??ill’s persistent selection in the squad.

“If this was Shubman Gill from Tamil Nadu, he would have been dropped,” the former Indian cricketer remarked. Badrinath further pointed out the below-par performances from Gil??l in Australia and lack of intent from the youngster. Badrinath who has featured for the Indian team in for seven ODIs, two Tests and one T20I, additionally highlighted that he wanted Gill to tire out bowlers and make the ball old even if runs were not coming. But nothing of that sort happened throughout the series.

“You must not go there and say, oh, this is the way I play. I will stand and deliver. Whatever you can do, at that time, you try to do. In this series, I did not get it from Shubman. Even on the field, he was poor. He couldn’t stay in slip and point. What does he contribute to the team?,” Badrinath asked.

The 25-year-old is expected to feature in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy 2025 but his consecutive f??ailure to score?? big runs has made his selection difficult.

A series to forget for Gill

Gill had a dreadful Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The young top-order batter scored 93 runs in 5 innings throughout the series with a highest score of 31 runs in Adelaide. The batting nightmare from Gill is evident from the fact that Australian pacer Mitchell Starc and Beau Webster who played only o?ne Test match in Sydn??ey scored more runs in the series than Gill.

The horror-show from Gill is not only restricted to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. His performance in the longest format of the game has been a constant concern. Gill’s performance during the home series against New Zealand has not been up to the mark. Apart from a 90-run knock at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Gill cou??ld only only score meagre runs against the Blackca??ps.

betvisa888 liveSubramaniam Badrinath – Cricket Times - betvisa888 live //betvisa68.com/2024/12/ipl-2025-hemang-badani-makes-a-shocking-revelation-about-rishabh-pants-exit-from-delhi-capitals/ Wed, 11 Dec 2024 13:30:04 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=167248

Delhi Capitals (DC)‘ newly appointed head coach, Hemang Badani, has provided detailed insights into the circumstances surrounding Rishabh Pant’s departure from the franchise.

Most expensive player in IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant

Pant, one of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) brightest stars, was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a record-breaking sum of INR 27 crore during the IPL mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The move marked a significant moment in IPL history, as Pant became the most expensive player ever in the league. Despite Delhi exercising their right-to-match (RTM) option, the franchise ultimately decided not to continue bidding for their former captain, citing reasons tied to Pant’s ambitions and the auction dynamics.

New head coach Hemang Badani breaks silence

During an interview on Subramaniam Badrinath’s YouTube channel, Badani elaborated on why Capitals failed to retain their star wicketkeeper-batter. According to Badani, Pant was resolute in his desire to test his market value in the auction, a decision that took precedence over the franchise’s retention efforts. ” I think it’s the other way around. He wanted not to be retained. He said he wanted to to the auction and test the market,” Badani explained.

The coach revealed that extensive communication took place between Pant and the Delhi Capitals management in an attempt to retain him. “If you want to retain a player, both parties (the team and the player) have to agree on certain things. We tried talking to him, the management tried talking to him. There were a lot of phone calls and messages exchanged,” he added. Despite these efforts, Pant remained firm in his decision, believing he could command a higher value t??han the INR 18 crore cap placed on retained players.

A calculated move that paid off

Badani also suggested that Pant’s decision was not impulsive but a well-thought-out strategy based on his self-assessment and the dynamics of the auction.  Pant’s confidence in his market value was validated during the auction when LSG raised their bid to INR 27 crore, setting a new benchmark for IPL contracts. Badani acknowledged Pant’s reasoning and congratulated him on his historic signing.

“He said he wanted to go to the auction and test the mark. He said he had a feeling that there were chances he would get more money than the highest cap for retained player, which is â‚?8 crore. And, at the end of the day, he felt he was worth more. And the market said the same thing. He got â‚?7 crore. Good for him. He is a very good player. We will obviously miss him. But, life goes on,” Badani concluded.

A heartfelt farewell from Delhi Capitals

Following the auction, Parth Jindal, co-owner of Delhi Capitals, expressed his emotions over Pant’s departure in a heartfelt note shared on X. Jindal thanked Pant for his invaluable contributions to the team, both as a player and a captain, and expressed optimism about a potential reunion in the future.

Pant’s record-breaking deal naturally fueled speculation about the role of finances in his departure from Capitals. However, Pant himself took to social media to refute these claims. In response to a video where Sunil Gavaskar suggested that financial disagreements might have been a factor, Pant wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “My retention wasn’t about the money for sure that I can say.” This statement was an attempt to clear the air and shift?? the narrative away from monet??ary motives.

MS Dhoni has long been revered as ‘Captain Cool,’ a title he earned for his remarkable ability to stay calm under pressure. Whether navigating tough situations on the field or leading his team to victory in critical matches, Dhoni’s poise and strategic brilliance have solidified his place as one of cricket’s greatest leaders.

His calm demeanor, combined with his exceptional tactical acumen, led him to become the only captain in history to win all three major ICC white-ball trophies: the T20 World Cup in 2007, the Cricket World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. Furthermore, his leadership with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) saw them clinch five Indian Premier League (IPL) titles, equalling the highest number of?? titles won by any franchise.

Subramaniam Badrinath opens up on a rare instance of MS Dhoni losing his cool

While Dhoni’s calmness is legendary, even he has his moments of frustration. Subramaniam Badrinath, Dhoni’s former India and CSK teammate, recently shared a rare and unheard tale of the iconic captain briefly losing his cool. Badrinath recalled an incident during an IPL match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai, where CSK were chasing a modest target of 110 but lost wickets in q?uick succession, ultimately losing th?e match.

“I got out to a lap shot against Anil Kumble and was dismissed LBW. When I returned to the dressing room, Dhoni came in, visibly upset. He kicked a small water bottle out of the park. None of us could make eye contact with him,” Badrinath rev??ealed in an interview with InsideSport. Despite this rare outburst, Dhoni never allowed his emotions to show on the field, maintaining his characteristic composure in front of the opposition.

Uncertainty surrounds Dhoni’s future in IPL as auction looms

As the IPL 2025 mega auction draws nearer, speculation around Dhoni’s future in the tournament continues to grow. Despite being part of the team under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s leadership in 2024, Dhoni has remained silent on whether he will return to the field for another season. Fans and analysts alike are left wondering if the cricketing world has seen the last of ‘Captain Cool’ as a player.

Fans hopeful for another season

Dhoni’s legion of fans remains hopeful that the legendary captain will don the yellow jersey once again. His impact on CSK and the IPL is undeniable, and many are eagerly waiting for confirmation of his return. After India‘s disheartening defeat in the first red-ball encounter of their ongoing South Africa tour, the team members are under intense scrutiny, with skipper Rohit Sharma emerging as the primary target of both trolls and critics. The questions surrounding him exte??????????????????????????nd beyond his individual batting performance in the clash, now encompassing doubts about his leadership skills.

Amidst this challenging scenario, Indian veteran Subramaniam Badrinath did not hold back in his critique of Rohit’s captaincy, offering severe comments on the skipper’s leadership abilities. Interestingly, the former batter threw his support to Virat Kohli, advocating for the latter’s return to the captaincy role in Test cricket.

‘Why is Virat not the captain of Test team?’: Subramaniam Badrinath

Badrinath raised a pertinent question about Kohli’s absence from the Test captaincy, emphasizing that the 35-year-old is a superior red-ball batter compared to Rohit. He highlighted Kohli’s exceptional track record in the longest format, asserting that Delhi-born cricketer, being a strong player, should be leading the Test team.

“Why is he (Virat) not the captain of the Test team? I want to raise this valid question. He is a better test batter. There is no comparison between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. He is a big player in terms of Test cricket. He has scored runs everywhere. Why is he not leading and a weaker player?,” B?adrinath said in a video on his YouTube channel.

Badrinath’s critical opinion on Rohit

Badrinath further expressed skepticism about Rohit’s role as an opener, citing concerns about his performance outside India and labeling him as a less proven player. The Chennai-born cricketer questioned the reasons for Rohit’s presence in the Test team and underscored the need for proven performance, particularly in overseas conditions.

“As far as I am concerned, a weaker player (Rohit) who is not yet proven as an opener. He has been in and out. We can consider all of that. But I think Rohit Sharma has not proven himself as an opener outside India. Why is he there?,” the 43-year-old added.
