betvisa casinoShaun Pollock – Cricket Times - betvisa casino //betvisa68.com/2023/12/shaun-pollock-loses-his-cool-after-south-africas-defeat-against-india-in-1st-odi-terms-modern-players-approach-nonsense/ Mon, 18 Dec 2023 13:32:56 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=113283

The New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg witnessed a one-sided affair as India convincingly outplayed South Africa?? in the first ODI o??f the three-match series on Sunday (December 17). The Proteas faced a humiliating eight-wi?cket defeat in the contest after managing a mere 116 runs in the first innings before being bundl??ed out in just 27.3 overs.

It was the pace duo of Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan that led the Indian bowling attack,?? leaving the S??outh African batting lineup in shambles and setting the perfect stage for Indian batters. As a result, the Men in Blue chased down the target comfortably with eight wickets in hand, courtesy of outstanding fifties from Sai Sudharsan and Shreyas Iyer.

Shaun Pollock’s fiery salvo at Proteas

The dismal performance of the South African side didn’t escape the scrutiny of fans and experts alike. Among them, former Proteas cricketer Shaun Pollock didn’t hold back as he lambasted the team for their approach. In a scathing critique, Pollock expressed his dissatisfaction with the modern players’ mindset, terming it “nonsense” and “unacceptable.”

“Try and work their way out of the situation and get themselves into trouble and get bowled up very cheaply. And you can’t do that. I mean, I can’t accept that. The modern player will say, oh, you’ve got to be positive, all that nonsense. I can’t accept that as a former South African, that always when you get put into pressure, you just fall down,” said Pollock during the post-matc??h show at Star Sports.

Missed opportunities, lack of responsibility and ‘”old dinosaurs” jibe

Pollock pointed out missed opportunities for the Proteas to post a respectable total. He criticized the aggressive approach of the batters, emphasizi?ng the need for absorbing pressure in challeng??ing situations.

“For all honesty, what you could have been done there today is you could have just blocked out ten overs. You couldn’t have scored a run for ten overs just to absorb some pressure and then you could have continued to bat and they would have posted 200 and something on the board,” emphasized Pollock.

The former cricketer also took a cheeky jab at the current generation, referring to their generation as “old dinosaurs” and highlighting the lack of responsibility in their game.

“So I do get the point. We were old dinosaurs. We didn’t play as positively as the modern player plays. But I’m afraid at some stage you have to take on that responsibility and say, I’ve got to dig in here today. Unfortunately, the best thing for the team is that I don’t be positive and I actually just get myself in and get decent runs,” highlighted the veteran pacer.

A wake-up call for South Africa

Pollock’s candid remarks serve as a wake-up call for the South African side, urging them to reevaluate their approach and take responsibility in challenging situations. As the series progresses, all eyes will be on the Proteas to see if they can bounce back and address the concerns raised by their cricketing legend.

Team India had a forgettable campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE. The ‘Men in Blue’ could not make it to the group stage after losing crucial games against Pakistan and New Zealand and were ousted from the 20-over showcase early.

Now under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India will be focusing on turning the fortunes in the 2022 edition of the multi-team event, which is set to occur from October 16 to November 13 in Australia. To do this, India need to find the right combination, and with the d??ozens of players at their disposal, it is going to be a big challenge for the selectors.

Ahead of the global showpiece event, South Africa legend Shaun Pollock has picked an Indian star who, according to him, is the firm favourite to be picked in the T20 World Cup squad. In a chat with Cricbuzz, Pollock named senior spinner Yuzvendra Chahal as someone who will fi??nd his place in the T20 W??orld Cup outfit.

Pollock admi??tted that Yuzi was completely out of touch ahead of the last World Cup but has got his form back and looking pretty lethal and ready to rumble.

Notably, Chahal has roared back to form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 for his new franchise, Rajasthan Royals (RR). The leggie has so far picked 22 wicket?s and leading the race for the Purple Cap, which is awarded to the highest w??icket-taker at the end of the season.

“In all honesty, Yuzi wasn’t anywhere near the right form when it came to the last World Cup. He was out of form, he was bowling flat deliveries. He wasn’t confident to give it air. He had lost his mojo. That happens to you as individuals,” said Pollock.

“There is no doubt Yuzi has got his form back. He’s really starting to look the part again. You can see that little bounce in his step. He’s got the deliveries coming out nicely. I would think he would be a firm favourite now to go to the next World Cup,” he added.

betvisa888 casinoShaun Pollock – Cricket Times - betvisa888 casino //betvisa68.com/2022/02/shaun-pollock-dinesh-karthik-list-out-the-greatest-india-odi-players/ Wed, 09 Feb 2022 12:02:35 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=62048

Former South Africa captain Shaun Pollock and veteran India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik have picked India’s greatest batter, bowler and all-rounders of the ODI format. Pollock and Karthik got involved in an interesting conversation where they were asked to name the greatest India players in ODIs.

Karthik was the first to respond, stating that when it comes to batting, it’s a toss-up between two of the biggest superstars the country has produced â€?Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. It’s a known fact that both Tendulkar and Kohli have achieved several milestones as ODI batters for India. While the Mumbaikar is the highest run-getter in the format with 18,426 runs, Kohli is the leader among the currently active players with over 12,000 runs.

Karthik further named Anil Kumble as the greatest Indian bowler. At the same time, he went with legendary Kapil Dev for the all-rounder’s category before adding Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh to the bowlers’ list.

“For the greatest batter, there will be a close toss-up between Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. It’s a hard one to choose between the two. Greatest bowler, immediately Anil Kumble’s name comes to mind,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.

“Kapil Dev will be the greatest all-rounder has produced in ODI cricket. the 175 not out, obviously captaining and winning the World Cup. For a bowler, there have been many, but Anil Kumble would be right up there. I’m just running to think who else can be thereâ€?Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh,” Karthik added.

After Karthik, it was Pollock’s turn, and the Proteas star started by picking Javagal Srinath as one name that should be considered. Notably, Srinath was the leader of India’s pace attack in the 1990s. Pollock agreed with Karthik on the all-rounder’s choice as well as the batters one involving Tendulkar and Kohli. However, Pollock also added explosive opener Virender Sehwag‘s name to the list.

“What about Javagal Srinath? He was brilliant in my time, bowling on those surfaces. Zaheer Khan was brilliant as well. But Kumble, I think, would be the key. His longevity and ability to perform particularly in those days,” explained Pollock.

“I would agree with you on Kapil Dev. The only other name I would throw into the equation is, and that’s because of the battles I’ve had with him and the pressure he put usâ€?Tendulkar, Kohli and maybe Viru. Sehwag would just be underneath those two,” Pollock added.

Mahela Jayawardene, Shaun Pollock and Janette Brittin have been inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021 final in Dubai on Sunday. The trio will be formally inducted by fellow ICC Hall of Famer Sir Clive Lloyd.

“The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame is our way of honouring and celebrating the greats of our game. Only the very best players are recognized for their contribution to cricket in this way,” ICC acting CEO Geoff Allardice said in a statement.

“I would like to congratulate Mahela and Shaun on their induction into this illustrious group and it is a wonderful way to commemorate Janette’s life and career.”

Jayawardene, who retired as one of Sri Lanka’s greatest ever players, was a key member of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2014 and reached the four other major ICC finals. Pollock, on the other hand, was one of the finest all-rounders South Africa has ever produced. He was the first player to achieve the double of 3,000 runs and 300 wickets in both Test and ODI cricket.

Brittin holds several records in Women’s cricket

Brittin, who died in 2017, was a mainstay of the England Test team for 19 years, helping pave the way for women’s cricket from 1979 to 1998. She was the oldest woman to score a Test hundred (at 39 years and 38 days vs Australia in 1998) and the second-oldest to score an ODI hundred (at 38 years and 161 days vs Pakistan in 1997).

Brittin also scored the most Test runs in a calendar year (531 in 1984) and has the most 50-plus scores (16) in women’s Tests. She even top-scored in the 1993 World Cup final against New Zealand to take England to the title.

betvisa liveShaun Pollock – Cricket Times - betvisa888 bet //betvisa68.com/2021/10/ashish-nehra-shaun-pollock-name-their-favourite-spinners-from-the-uae-leg-of-ipl-2021/ Mon, 04 Oct 2021 08:55:19 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=59429

The impact of spinners in the ongoing second phase of Indian Premier L??eague (IPL) 2021 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is visible to everyone. The slow tracks in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi have tempted franchises to ?pick more than one spinner in their respective playing XIs, and the move has certainly worked as batters from all teams have found it a bit challenging to tackle the tweakers.

The likes of Yuzven?dra Chahal, Rashid Khan, Varun Chakravarthy, Rahul Chahar, Axar Patel, Sunil Narine, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Bishnoi, Ravi?chandran Ashwin have all impressed in the UAE leg of IPL 2021.

When it comes to matches in the Gulf nation this year, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ‘s senior bowler Chahal is the leading wicket-taker amongst spinners. The leggie has taken 10 wickets in five games at an economy of 5.94. Second on the list is Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star s?p?inner Chakravarthy. The mystery tweaker has bagged 8 scalps in six games.

But who has been the most impressive spinner in the UAE leg? Well, former international cricketers Ashish Nehra and Shaun Pollock have named their choices.

Nehra went with veteran KKR bowler Narine, stating the Caribbean spinner did lose his majestic touch i?n recent times but has got the mome??ntum again in the second phase of IPL 2021.

“There are so many big names in IPL like Rashid Khan, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, but one name that comes to my mind who has shown the utmost improvement is Sunil Narine. He is a veteran bowler who has ruled IPL over the years, but he lost his magic in the recent past. However, he is again at his best which has helped KKR dominate the proceedings in the tournament. He has carried forward the CPL form and has been the biggest plus for KKR in the UAE leg,” Nehra told Cricbuzz.

Pollock, on the other hand, picked Chahal as the player who has impressed him the mos?t. The former South Africa captain termed Chahal as the key performer for RCB, who made a brilliant comeback after a poor first half i??n India.

“My favourite spinner in the UAE leg is Yuzi (Yuzvendra) Chahal. I think he’s been the one who has impressed me the most for a couple of reasons. I think he has been such a key performer for RCB over the years. He wasn’t at his best at the start of the tournament, and since he has come back, he’s started to find his own rhythm and his performance and confidence,” said Pollock.

Pollock also mentioned Chahal’s absence from India’s T20 World Cup squad, stating that it could destroy anybody’s confidence, but the leg-spinner rose above all that and performed well in the UAE leg.

“He is such a big player for them (RCB), obviously not being selected in certain teams makes it difficult and damages the confidence, but he has risen above all that, and I love to see that in a player,” added Pollock.

betvisa casinoShaun Pollock – Cricket Times - betvisa login //betvisa68.com/2021/10/ipl-2021-shaun-pollock-names-replacement-for-csk-stalwart-suresh-raina/ Sun, 03 Oct 2021 10:34:33 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=59407

Veteran batter Suresh Raina has been a regular run-getter in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Known as the backbone of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Raina belongs to the elite group of batsmen who have scored 5000-plus runs in the cash-rich league. In fact, ‘Chinna Thala’ is the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history.

However, Raina disappointed his fans in the ongoing fourteenth season of the lucrative league. He did start well with a fifty in CSK’s first match, but ever since his form has dipped as the highest score which the southpaw has managed was 24 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) back in April.

In the six matches that CSK have played in the UAE leg of IPL ??2021, Raina has registered scores of 4, 17*, 11, 2 and 3. No wonder some fans and experts have ev?en started questioning his place in the playing XI after consistent batting failures.

Talking about the same, South African legend Shaun Pollock said that Raina doesn’t look fit enough as he is known for his superior energy in the field. Pollock felt there could be niggle or something the 34-year-old is experiencing.

“He hasn’t been able to find his touch. He looks like he might be carrying a bit of a niggle, he doesn’t look that pacey, that’s what we are so used to brilliant fielding over the years, contributing with his off-spin and smashing the ball out of the ground; we haven’t seen that. No surprise that they promoted him to No.3; that was in a bid to get him some form under the belt,” Pollock told Cricbuzz.

CSK have already qualified for the playoffs, and Pollock opined that they should include Robin Uthappa in the final XI in place of Raina. Notably, Rajasthan Royals (RR) traded Uthappa to CSK in an all-cash deal.

“I wonder if they will give Robin Uthappa a chance. CSK are a team that doesn’t like to make big changes. The longer it goes on, the more you feel they can’t actually make a change for the knockouts unless they make it sooner or later. I’m sure he will be keen to have a go. But if they keep winning, they will want everyone firing,” added Pollock.

Mumbai Indian’s (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma turned out to be the most successful captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL), with four championship wins in seven seasons as captain. Under Rohit’s captaincy, the Mumbai-based franchise lifted the IPL Trophy in every alternate season since 2013.

After the IPL Governing Council (GC) anno?unced that the 2020 season of IPL will commence from September 19, Rohit appeared to be elated to get back into the groove, post prolon??ged COVID-19 break.

Rohit conducted a ‘Q&A’ session where he was asked to pick one MI player from the past in his squad.

The Mumbai ace named not just one but two players he dearly wished to be included in MI squad. Rohit made the obvious choice of ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar along with former Proteas seamer Shaun Pollock.

“If I could bring one Mumbai player not one actually, there are two. One and only Sachin Tendulkar and Shaun Pollock,” Rohit responded to the query.

Tendulkar captained MI during the first few seasons of IPL with an array of superstars in his team,? includ??ing Pollock.

Two of the greatest cricketers of the by-gone era, Sachin and Pollock, have now reacted to Rohit’s plea for a comeback in the MI Paltan.

Indian cricket enthusiasts often wished to witness Sachin and Rohit open the innings together, which did not happen during their short stint toget?her in 2013 season.

“Would be fun to open with you, @ImRo45,” Sachin replied.

Pollock, on the other hand, had a typical cheeky reply for ‘Hitman’. “Will go to the nets and workout if it’s still possible,” the popular commentator wrote.

The veteran pacer featured only during the inaugural season of the IPL, where he picked 11 wickets in 13 matches. Since ?their retirement from the game, both Sachin and Pollock took up ?mentorship roles at the Ambani-owned franchise.
