In a moment of sheer brilliance, Sam Curran sent shockwaves through the stadium with a jaw-dropping 117-metre six off Scott Kuggeleijn during the ILT20 2025 final. Sam Curran blasts a towering 117-metre six off Scott Kuggeleijn

In the 19th over, Kuggeleijn delivered a short-of-a-length ball angling away outside off, but Curran was quick to anticipate it. Standing deep inside his crease, he used his strong base and immense bat speed to whip the b??all over deep mid-wicket with a full-blooded swing. The ball rocketed off his bat, soaring into the night sky before disappearing into the top tier of the stadium, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

The sheer magnitude of the hit was evident from the way the ball traveled, clearing the boundary with ease and leaving the bowler in disbelief. Even the fielders could do nothing but watch as it sailed beyond their reach, highlighting Curran’s ability to dominate the opposition under pressure. His monstrous strike not only boosted his team’s total at a crucial juncture but also underlined the evolution of power-hitting in modern T20? cricket.

In their previous game, Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) defended the lowest total in the history of Caribbean Premier Le?ague (CPL). But, the?? team failed to reach an ordinary target of 145 in their fourth match of the tournament.

Thanks to medium pace display from Chemar Holder (2/32) and Scott Kuggelejin (3/24) of St Lucia Zouks (SLZ) that led to such happening as they managed to defeat five-?time runner-up of CPL by 10 runs.

Kuggeleijn picked up two wickets in his first over when he dismissed Warriors’ opener, Brandon King (1) and No.3 in-form batsman Shimron Hetmyer (4). Then came experienced New Zealand international Ross Taylor but he looked completely out of touch.

Taylor scored 1 off 12 balls before allrounder Mohammad Nabi (1/17) ended his painful inning??s to leave Guyana at 7 for 3 in the fifth over.

Warriors wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran (68) did play a gutsy knock in the middle of the chase and?? reached his fifty.

Pooran took the team’s total to 124 before being outdone by a slower ball from Kesrick Williams (2/32) in the 19th over of the innings.

Holder’s peach of a delivery to Rutherford:

After the end of the 19th over, Guyana needed 13 runs to get the better off Zouks, but a relatively young Holder held his n?erve. He ended the show of Rutherford (15) with a brilliant yorker.

The left-handed batsman was slow to pick up the ball which shatte?red his stumps. Under pre??ssure, Holder delivered the magic moment.

Holder then sent skipper Chris Green (1) back to the dugout to restrict Warriors at 134-8.

Earlier, in the first innings, Roston Chase’s fighting half-century took Zouks to a competi??tive score of 144-7. At one stage, Zouks were struggling at 42-4 before Chase, and Mohammad Nabi (27) joined hands for? a crucial 57-run stand for the fifth wicket to steady the innings.

Imran Tahir (3/22), who had already taken 2 wickets by then, ended the vital partnership by picking up the wicket of Nabi. But Chase (66) stood his end and kept on tickling the scoreboard. The allrounder built another critical 43-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Javelle Glen (19).

For Warriors,? apart from Tahir, Odean Smith bagged two wickets, while Ashmead Nedd and Green earned one-scalp each.

Zouks with three wins out of four matches reached the second spot in the points table headed by Trinbago Knight Riders. In comparison, Guyana is in third place.

After losing their first two encounters of the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKP) would have been determined to win their next challenge against St Lucia Zouks (SLZ) on Saturday.

SKP captain, Rayad Emrit, won the toss and el??ected to field first, looking at the conditions on offer at Brian Lara Stadium in Tauroba, Trinid?ad.

The Zouks started on an explosive tone with Andre Fletcher (46) and Mark Deyal (30) at the crease. At one point in time, the Zouks, with the scoreboard reading 102-1 in the 12th over, w?e??re cruising towards a target above 180.

It all changed with spells from Sohail Tanvir (2/41) and Jon-Russ Jaggesar (2/29), who countered Zouks’ aggression with their fine bowling display.

The Zouks were struggling at 137-6 with the loss of Rahkeem Cornwall’s wicket in the 18th over.

However, Zouks’ marquee all-rounder Mohammad Nabi changed the course of the game, yet again, with his cameo of 35* which came off just 22 deliveries.

Afghan international, Nabi, h?it three sixes and a boundary in the process. The ?all-rounder powered the Zouks?score to 172-6 in the allotted 20 overs.

For the Patriots, Chris Lynn (14) and Evin L??ewis (29) gave a perfect start to the ?run chase with their respective contributions.

Yet again, the match turned its tides with the spe?ll of Roston Chase (3/12), who picked up three wickets in his quota of four overs.

Moreover, it was the d?amaging spell from New Zealander Scott Kuggeleijn (4/33) which proved the difference between the two sides. The Kiwi pacer picked up four wickets in the innings to end up as the highest w??icket-taker in the tournament, thus far.

Despite’s Sheldon Cottrell’s cameo (26*) in the end, the Patriots fell ten runs short of the required total as the Zouks won their second match of the tournament.

Amidst injury woes plaguing New Zealand team, another one bites the dust, with flu-like symptoms ruling out pace??r Scott Kuggeleijn from the second ODI at Auckland against India.

Stand-in bowling coach of the Black Caps, Shane Jurgensen, replac?ing Gary Ste??ad, who took a week off, was all praises for the lanky fast bowler.

“He’s obviously a huge man, at 6 foot eight he’s quite an imposing sight, so we are looking forward to seeing what he can do,” as quoted as saying by HT. “He’s got good skills with the new ball, he’s a good athlete and he can bat a bit as well, so has a lot of potential,” continued Jurgensen.

During the last ODI against India A, the Auckland cricketer impressed with figures of 4-49, after expensive outings in t?he first two game?s.

According to reports, Lockie Ferguson is in hi?s final phase of rehabilitation. The pacer strained his calf muscled during the Perth Test against Australia.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were dealt?? with a huge blow even before the s??tart of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.

The South African speedster Lungi Ngidi, who played a major in CSK’s title triumph last year, was ruled out of the tournament due to injury. He was the only express fast bowler in the yellow army and his ruling out was a major setback for them and all the eyes were on his replacement.

On Saturday, the Chennai franchise announced New Zealand fast bowling all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn as Ngidi’s replacement for the remaining of the IPL 2019.

Scott Kuggeleijn

Having made his international debut in May 2017, Kuggeleijn has represented the Blackcaps in 2 ODIs and 4 T20Is thus far. While the 27-year-old ha??s claimed five wickets in the 50-over format, he has taken two scalps in t??he shortest format.

In non-international T20s, Kuggeleijn boasts an im??pressive record. The right-arm seamer has 67 wickets to his name from 75 matches with the best bowling figures of 4/??18.

Amid the absence of a quality pacer, the Super Kings won both the matches they have played so far. In the IPL 2019 opener, they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by seven wickets before beating Delhi Capitals by six?? wickets.
