betvisa loginProteas – Cricket Times - betvisa live //betvisa68.com/2023/12/proteas-legend-ab-de-villiers-gives-his-verdict-on-david-warner-mitchell-johnson-saga/ Sat, 09 Dec 2023 09:08:02 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=111827

The ongoing clash between David Warner and Mitchell Johnson has stirred the cricketing world, taking an unexpected turn. Johnson publicly criticized Warner’s selection in the Australian Test squad for the upcoming Pakistan series, questioning his eligibility for a hero’s sendoff due to his involvement in the infamous ball-tampering scandal. Warner, set to retire after the third Test in Sydney, responded calmly, refusing to escalate the situation.

AB de Villiers enters the fray

Adding his perspective to the heated debate, former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers shared his insights on the matter. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, De Villiers urged th?e Australian duo to address their differences privately rather than letting the dispute play out i??n the public domain.

“I just don’t like this public conversation between the two of them. Just pick up the phone and sort it out. Ask the guy let’s go out for a cold drink and sort the issues out. I feel there are some scars from the dressing room but don’t let the world get in on this,” expressed De Villiers.

Predicting unfinished business

De Villiers hinted that the saga might not conclude anytime soon, emphasizing that there could be more to unfold. Acknowledging the extensive hist?ory shared by Warner and Johnson in the dressing room, De Villiers speculated that unresolved issues might be surfacing.

“I feel there’s a lot still left to come out. They have played a lot of cricket together and have shared the dressing room a lot. So maybe that’s where it started,” noted the Proteas icon.

Insight into David Warner’s persona

Reflecting on Warner’s on-field demeanor, De Villiers acknowledged the Australian as a fierce competitor. However, off the field, he described Warner as a “gentle giant” with a contrasting, more amicable personality.

“I have played many cricket games with this guy (Warner) and on the field he can be brutal, but off the field, he is a gentle giant. He is a nice guy. Something switches on the field just like Dale Steyn. I have played with Davey at Delhi Daredevils and maybe there is a bit of a short fuse sometimes. Maybe his and Mitch’s short fuse collided,” explained De Villiers.

The ODI World Cup 2023 is just around the corner, and the leaders of all 10 participating teams gathered in Ahmedabad for the captains’ meet on Wednesday, October 4. This highly anticipated event provided an opportunity for the skippers to interact with journalists and broadcasters, namely Ravi Shastri and Eoin Morgan, in a special gathering.

While the meet was expected to be a forum for discussing cricket strategies and sharing camaraderie, South Africa’s skipper, Temba Bavuma, found himself at the centre of an unexpected controversy. A photograph allegedly capturing Bavuma sleeping during the event?? went viral on various social media platforms, causing a stir among cricket fans worldwide.

Bavuma clears the air surrounding his viral picture

Responding to the viral image, Bavuma took to social media to clarify that he was not asleep during the captains’ meet. The Barmy Army, a prominent cricket supporters’ group, had shared the photo in question on X (formerly Twitter), prompting Bavuma to respond.

“I blame the camera angle, I wasn’t sleeping,” Bavuma replie?d while addressing the controversy directly.

No Home Advantage in India

During the captains’ meet, Bavuma also faced questions about whether South African players have an advantage due to their experience of playing in India. With many players in the current squad having competed on Indian soil, some wondered if this would give South Africa an edge.

In response to this, Bavuma downplayed any notion of a unique advantage, stating, “I think that’s something that is relevant to all the teams. A lot of the teams have guys who played in India, have done well in India, so I wouldn’t really say it’s an advantage for us. I think all we could do is for the guys who have that experience and knowledge; they can share it among the team or use it in terms of our strategies and plans. But I wouldn’t really say it’s an advantage unique to us as a team.”

The cricketing world is abuzz with excitement as the ODI World Cup 2023 draws nearer. This highly anticipated ??tournament, set to take place entirely in India, promises thrilling cricketing action and challenges aplenty, particularly for overseas players who may be unaccustomed to Indian conditions.

Amidst the mounting anticipation and concerns over playing conditions in India, Quinton de Kock, the renowned South African cricket sensation, remains remarkably unfazed. De Kock, along with other Proteas playe??rs, believes their extensive experience of playing in India ??provides them with a significant advantage.

Invaluable insights from IPL and Proteas tours

The 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has been a prominent fixture in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while representing the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This extensive IPL experien??ce, combined with numerous Proteas tours to India, has equipped him with invaluable insights into handling the challenging Indian conditions.

De Kock emphasized that his familiarity with I?ndian pitches, playing conditions, and the high-pressure atmosphere is poised to give the Sou??th African team a crucial edge in the upcoming global cricket extravaganza.

“A couple of us have been there quite often. Obviously, with the IPL and Proteas tours there. I think it’s not just me; a lot of us have an understanding of wickets there. We’ve got a good understanding when we talk to our batters about how we’re going to score runs on certain wickets. Whether it’s a spinning wicket, it’s swinging, or has good bounce, we all have these chats,” said De Kock in a video shared by SuperSport.

Encouragement for open discussions in the team

De Kock further elaborated on the team’s approach to preparation, stating, that the team encourages open discussions about each player’s individual strategies for scoring runs. This information helps set expectations and prepares everyone for various conditions, allowing each player to tailor their net practice sessions to perform their best in the upcoming matches.

“Everybody tells me how they’re going to score runs in their way, just to keep them aware of what we expect, not to say we’re guaranteed this. So, we just highlight what we have seen in the past. If you’re going to go to preparation in the nets, you know what to expect, and the guys will prepare in their way, thinking about what’s best to score big runs for us,” added De Kock.

South Africa, led by captain Temba Bavuma will begin their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign against Sri Lanka on October 7 at t??he Arun Jait??ley Stadium in Delhi.
