“Even in our practice matches, he was doing well and made a good impact. Everyone has been impressed by him and that’s why he has been backed this season,” Samad stated.

Samad regrets dropping a catch in the last over

During the last over of the match, when PBKS required 28 runs to win, Ashutosh Sharma hit two consecutive sixes off Jaydev Unadkat, which brought a twist to the game. These two sixes were the result of catch drops near the boundary line. The first catch was dropped by Nitish on the first ball of Unadkat’s over, and Samad dropped the second one on the very next ball.

Addr??essing this, Samad accepted that their team could have won the match by 15 runs if those two catches were taken; talking further, he even applauded Ashutosh and Shashank Singh for their innings.

The fans were taken aback when they saw Shikhar Dhawan walking out for a toss instead of Mayank Agarwal in the 28th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.

Dhawan, along with SRH skipper Kane Williamson procee?ded with the toss process, where the Delhi-born revealed why regular skipper Mayank was missing. Dhawan disclosed that Mayank suf??fered a toe injury during net practice.

Dhawan further mentioned that Prabhsimran Singh has replaced Mayank in the PBKS playing XI ??before confirming that the Karnataka star will return in the next game.

“Mayank got hit on his toe, he should be fine for the next game. So, there’s just one change for us ?Prabhsimran is in. We are performing well without depending on individuals ?need to continue playing well as a unit, the bowling can get better, we’re working on it,” said Dhawan.

“The team is new, and we’re taking time to settle. The toss could be an advantage, it’s a bit sticky, the ball could turn, but if we put up a good total, we can put them under pressure,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bowl first. They haven’t made any changes to the team that defeated Kolkata on Friday.
