India‘s journey in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 came to a disheartening conclusion as the team was knocked out in the group stage for the first time in eight years. Harmanpreet Kaur‘s side, considered one of the favorites, faced a nine-run defeat against Australia. India’s fate was sealed when New Zealand clinched a crucial 54-run victory over Pakistan in their fin?al group matc??h on Monday (October 14), securing their spot in the semifinals and eliminating India from the tournament.

New Zealand’s victory over Pakistan seals India’s elimination

New Zealand’s victory over Pakistan was the pivotal moment that ended India’s World Cup campaign. In their final group-stage match, New Zealand posted a modest total of 111 runs at the Dubai International Stadium, setting a tricky chase for Pakistan. The White Ferns’ bowlers, led by Amelia Kerr, displayed a stellar performance to bowl Pakistan out for a mere 56 runs. Kerr’s three-wicket haul, combined with the tight bowling from the rest of the New Zealand attack, dismantled Pakistan’s hopes of advancing to the semifinals. Pakistan had a slim chance of making it through, needing to chase the target in just 10.4 overs, but New Zealand’s disciplined bowling ensured their victory, knocking both Pakistan and India out of the tournament.

A tough end to India’s campaign in Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

India’s elimination marked their earliest exit from the T20 World Cup since their group-stage finishes in 2012, 2014, and 2016. The team managed two wins out of four matches but failed to capitalize on key moments, especially in tight chases against New Zealand and Australia. Despite being one of the pre-tournament favorites, India struggled under pressure, raising concerns about their preparation and approach in high-stakes matches.

After losing to Australia, India’s hopes rested on Pakistan defeating New Zealand to create a three-way tie in Group A, where India’s superior net run rate (NRR) would have secured them a semifinal spot. However, with New Zealand’s comprehensive win over Pakistan, both India and Pakistan were eliminated, marking a disappointing end to India’s campaign, which had promised much more.

The Australian women’s cricket team continues their dream run in the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, having won all three of their matches with ease. Their latest triumph came with a commanding 9-wicket victory over Pakistan. However, despite their on-field dominance, the team faces a serious challenge off the field as two key players- Tayla Vlaeminck and captain Alyssa Healy sustained injuries during the match, ca?sting uncertainty over their fitness for the remainder of the tournament.

Tayla Vlaeminck’s injury early in Pakistan’s innings

The first injury occurred in the very first over of Pakistan’s innings. Megan Schutt bowled to Muneeba Ali, who ?edged the ball past slip for a couple of ru?ns. Vlaeminck, stationed near the boundary, chased the ball down but fell awkwardly while trying to stop it.

Vlaeminck’s left knee got stuck in the turf, and she landed awkwardly on her arm, grimacing in pain as the team physio rushed to her aid. The promising pacer, who has fac??ed a string of injuries in the past, had to leave the field, and her condition is still being assessed.

Ashleigh Gardner, who was named Player of the Match, expressed her concern for Vlaeminck at the post-match presentation. “To see one of our really good mates go down like that in the first over is never nice. Especially after all the hard work, Tayla has put in to get back here. We’re certainly feeling bad for her, and it’s super unfortunate,” said Gardner.

Alyssa Healy hobbles off during Australia’s chase

Australia’s second injury blow came during their chase. In the 9th over of the second innings, as Healy, alongside Ellyse Perry, was running between the wickets, Healy suddenly pulled up in visible discomfort. After completing a two-run shot, Healy hobbled at the non-striker’s end, clutching her left leg. Physio staff were immediately called to attend to the Australian captain, who eventually left the field.

Vice-captain Tahlia McGrath addressed on what she knew about Healy’s injury. “Not a lot. It’s a calf [injury], and the damage will be assessed. It’s been a big day for us, and we’re heartbroken. We’ll know more in a few days,” McGrath said.

McGrath also spoke about Vlaeminck’s injury, sharing her sentiments on how difficult it was for the team to watch another one of their star players go down. “She’s a bit of a character at the moment, but we’re heartbroken for her. Tay’s had a really tough run with injuries, and we love her. It was pretty hard to watch,” the vice-captain of Australian team added.

Eyes on India clash as Australia await injury updates

Despite these setbacks, Australia remains a strong contender to lift the World Cup trophy, but the team is now anxiously awaiting updates on both Vlaeminck and Healy. The injuries come at a crucial stage of the tournament, with their final group-stage match against India set for October 13th at the Sharjah Crick??et S?tadium.

This upcoming clash against India will not only determine Australia’s final position in the group but also serve as a critical moment in assessing their readiness for the knockout stages. If Healy and Vlaeminck are ruled out for any period of time, it cou??ld be a significant blow to Australia’s title hopes.

In a commanding display during the 14th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Australia‘s off-spinner Ashleigh Gardner delivered a match-winning performance, leading her team to a comprehensive 9-wicket victory over Pakistan.

Gardner’s impressive four-wicket haul played a crucial role in dismantling Pakistan’s batting lineup, restricting them to a modest total of just 82 runs. Her efforts earned her the well-deserved Player of the Match award in what turned out to be a low-scoring affair.

Ashleigh Gardner’s game-changing spell

Gardner’s spell was a masterclass in precision and control, as she claimed four wickets for 21 runs in her allotted four overs, maintaining an impres?sive economy rate of 5.20. She consistently troubled Pakistan’s batters, delivering three wickets in a single over and sealing the collapse of the opposition.

In the 16.1 over, she struck first, dismissing Iram Javed. Attempting a slog sweep to gain momentum, Javed misjudged the delivery and ended up giving a simple catch to fielder Georgia Wareham, departing for 12 runs off 25 balls.

Gardner continued her assault, claiming her second wicket in the 18.2 over when Tuba Hassan attempted an ambitious advance down the wicket. However, she was left stranded as wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy s??wiftly dislodged the bails, leaving Hassan with a mere 3 runs off 6 balls.

The pressure mounted on the Pakistani side as Gardner took her third wicket just three balls later. Syeda Aroob Shah‘s flick towards mid-on was caught effortlessly by Beth Mooney.

The final blow from Gardner came in the 19th over when Nashra Sandhu fell victim to a lbw?? decision after failing to connect with a tossed-up delivery.

Australia’s smooth chase to victory

Pakistan’s innings never really took off, with none of their batters managing to cross the 30-run mark. They struggled against Australia’s dis?ciplined bowling attack, and eventually, the team was bowled out for a paltry 82 runs in 19.5 overs.

In response, Australia made light work of the chase, reaching the target of 83 runs with ease in just 11 overs. Despite losing opener Mooney early, the Australian side remained unfazed, thanks to skipper Healy’s aggressive knock of 37 runs off 23 balls, which included five fours. Healy’s dynamic start gave Australia the perfect foundation to secure a quick victory, although she was retired hurt before completing her innings. Nevertheless, Healy’s leadership and batting ensured Australia’s comfortable victory.

With contributions from other batters, Australia cruised to the finish line, winning the match by nine wickets. The comprehensive win further cemented Australia’s dominance in the tournament, with Gardner’s bowling brilliance and Healy’s captaincy at the forefront of their success.

Australia continued their dominant run in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 by defeating Pakistan by nine wickets in a one-sided affair at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday (October 11). With a clinical performance both with the ball and bat, Australia sealed the win with 54 balls to spare. Ashleigh Gardner was the standout performer, earning the Player of the Match? award for her all-round efforts, particularly her four-wicket haul.

Pakistan’s struggles with the bat

Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, managing to post only 82 runs in 19.5 overs. Stand-in captain Muneeba Ali, along with Sidra Amin, attempted to give Pakistan a steady start but struggled to break free from Australia’s disciplined bowling. Key batters like Nida Dar and Aliya Riaz tried to resist, but wickets fell at regular intervals. Gardner’s remarkable bowling, claiming 4 for 21, dismantled Pakistan’s middle and lower order, while Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham contributed with crucial breakthroughs. The only significant resistance came from Riaz, who top-scored with 26 off 32 deliveries. Pakistan’s inability to accelerate left them with a modest total that proved insufficient against a strong Australian side. Megan Schutt, Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham also impress in the bowling department.

Australia’s comfortable chase

Chasing a small target of 83, Australia cruised to victory, reaching 83/1 in just 11 overs. Beth Mooney and Alyssa Healy got Australia off to a solid start, with Healy scoring a brisk 37 off 23 balls before retiring hurt. Mooney contributed 15 off 15 balls before falling to Sadia Iqbal. Ellyse Perry (22*) and Ashleigh Gardner (7*) comfortably guided Australia home, with Perry playing an anchor role to see the team through. Wi?th such a dominant performance, Australia solidified their po?sition at the top of the group.

Ashleigh Gardner’s all-round brilliance

Gardner’s all-round performance was the highlight of the match. Her four wickets in just four overs effectively dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup. Gardner’s ability to extract spin and vary her pace made it difficult for the Pakistan batters to find any rhythm. She struck at crucial moments, breaking Pakistan’s momentum and ensuring they could never settle into a partnership. Gardner’s wickets included key batters like Iram Javed and Tuba Hassan, and her spell crippled Pakistan’s middle order, making it difficult for them to post a competitive total. Adding to her bowling heroics, Gardner contributed with a quickfire 7* off 5 balls in the chase, ensuring Australia wrapped up the game swiftly.

Australia captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to bowl first against Pakistan in Match 14 of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 at t?h?e Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Friday (October 11).

Australia and Pakistan: ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

With victories in their first two matches against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Australia sits at the top of the table, one step closer to securing a semi-final spot. Led by a formidable bowling unit with Megan Schutt spearheading the pace attack, and batters like Healy, Beth Mooney and Ellyse Perry in fine form, Australia looks like the team to beat. Their well-rounded squad, with a strong spin department and no apparent weaknesses, makes them heavy favorites to continue their winning streak. However, despite their recent six-wicket loss to India, Pakistan showcased their potential when they defeated Sri ?Lanka earlier in the tournament. With a semi-final spot still within their reach, Pakistan will look? to bounce back strongly.

The reason behind Fatima Sana’s absence

Pakistan faces this crucial match without their captain, Fatima Sana, who is missing due to her father’s death. At the toss, stand-in skipper Muneeba Ali acknowledged the setback, especially with Sana’s abili?ty to balance the team both as a batter and a bowler. Despite her a??????????????????????????bsence, Muneeba expressed confidence in leading the team and emphasized the importance of putting up a competitive total to challenge the reigning champions.

Pakistan made two key changes for this match: Iram Javed replaces Fatima, while Sadaf Shamas comes in for Gull Feroza. These changes were made to strengthen the team’s b??ala??nce in the absence of their captain, and Muneeba mentioned the team’s determination to win the match in honor of Sana and her family.

“Obviously, Fatima is our captain and the qualities she possesses in batting and bowling are very good and she gives our team a good balance. So, obviously we will miss her as a captain and as a player, but we will try to win the match for her and her father,” Muneeba said.

Reason behind Grace Harris’ unavailability

On the Australian side, Healy’s decision to bowl first was based on reading the fresh conditions under the lights, expecting the ball to come onto the bat well initially but grip and turn as the game progresses. Healy highlighted their adaptability, stating they are prepared for any changes in conditions.

Australia have made one change to their lineup, with Tayla Vlaeminck replacing Grace Harris. Healy explained this decision as a tactical move, aiming to add an extra bowling option to exploit the conditions. While Harris provided batting depth in previous games, this match called for a stronger bowling impact, aligning with Australia’s game plan of chasing down the target.

“We’ll have a bowl. It’s a fresh wicket, want to get the most of the conditions. Got to see what unfolds later. We have watched the games, this wicket has some spin. One change for us. We are going heavy with the ball tonight,” Healy said.

In a low-scoring encounter at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday (October 3), India registered their first win by defeating Pakistan by 6 wickets in Dubai. Pakistan posted a modest total of 105/8, with Nida Dar top-scoring for her side. India, led by Shafali Verma’s steady 32 and Harmanpreet Kaur’s quickfire 29, chased down the target with seven balls to spare. Despite a valiant all-round effort from Pakistan captain Fatima Sana, India proved too strong,? clinching victory with ease.

Muneeba Ali and Nida Dar lead Pakistan’s innings

Pakistan’s batting performance in the match against India faced challenges from the start. Muneeba Ali, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter, tried to stabilize the innings with a composed knock of 17 off 26 balls, hitting two boundaries. However, Gull Feroza was dismissed for a duck, setting Pakistan back early. Sidra Amin scored 8 off 11 balls, but the team’s struggle continued as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Nida Dar top-scored with a gritty 28 off 34 balls, though she could not accelerate the innings as needed. Lower-order contributions from Fatima, who hit 13 off 8 balls, and Syeda Aroob Shah (14 off 17?? balls) helped Pakistan reach a modest total of 105/8 in their 20 overs.

Arundhati Reddy and Shreyanka Patil star in India’s bowling attack

India’s bowling, led by Arundhati Reddy and Shreyanka Patil, restricted Pakistan to a manageable total. Reddy was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 19 runs in her four overs, including the crucial scalps of Nida and Aliya Riaz. Shreyanka Patil delivered an economical spell, taking 2 wickets for just 12 runs, including the dismissal of Muneeba. Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma supported well with a wicket each, while India’s bowlers maintained pressure by taking wickets at key moments. Pakistan struggled to build partnerships, and India’s disciplined bowling performance left them defending a modest target of 106.

Shafali Verma, Harmanpreet Kaur steady knock anchors India’s chase

India’s chase of 106 was anchored by Shafali, who played a steady knock of 32 off 35 balls. Though Smriti Mandhana was dismissed early for just 7 runs by Sadia Iqbal, Shafali held her ground, hitting three boundaries during her stay. Jemimah Rodrigues contributed with a patient 23 off 28 balls, adding a crucial partnership with Shafali. Harmanpreet, who had to retire hurt after scoring a quick 29 off 24 b??alls, played a vital role in steering India close to the target. In the end, India comfortably reached 108/4 in 18.5 o??vers, winning by 6 wickets with 7 balls to spare.

Pakistan’s captain Fatima gave an impressive all-round performance, taking 2 wickets for 23 runs after her earlier contribution with the bat. She dismissed key Indian batters Jemimah and Richa Ghosh, but her efforts were not enough to turn the tide in Pakistan’s favour. Sadia also bowled well, taking 1 wicket for 23 runs, but the target of 106 was not enough to challenge India. Despite their bowlers?valiant efforts, Pakistan fell short.

In the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 match on Sunday (October 6) between India and Pakistan, Indian wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh delivered one of t?he most memorable moments of the game.

Richa Ghosh’s brilliant catch: Departure of Fatima Sana

On the last ball of the 14th over, Asha Sobhana bowled a well-flighted delivery outside the off-stump that gripped and turned away from the batter. Pakistan’s captain Fatima Sana, attempting to slog sweep for a third consecutive boundary, only managed an edge. Richa, showing remarkable athleticism and presence of mind, dived to her right and took a stunning one-handed catch, dismissing Fatima for 13 off 8 balls. The dismissal left Pakistan in deep trouble at 70/6 and shifted the momentum firmly in Indi??a’s favour.

Here’s the video:

Earlier, Pakistan’s decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired as they faced immediate setbacks. Renuka Singh set the tone by dismissing Gull Feroza for a four-ball duck in the very first over, putting Pakistan on the back foot. Deepti Sharma then claimed the wicket of Sidra Amin, who struggled for her 8 runs off 11 balls. Pakistan’s middle-order also failed to find any rhythm, with Omaima Sohail falling cheaply for 3 runs and Muneeba Ali, despite showing some resistance, managing only 17 runs off 26 deliveries. With wickets t?umbling regularly, Pakistan were unable to build a solid platform and found themselves at 52 for 5 halfway through their innings.

India’s bowlers keep Pakistan under pressure

India’s bowlers, led by Arundhati Reddy and supported by Renuka and Deepti, consistently troubled Pakistan’s batters throughout the innings. Arundhati was particularly effective, taking 3 key wickets, including the dangerous Aliya Riaz, who was dismissed for just 4 runs. Shreyanka Patil and Sobhana also played crucial roles, restricting Pakistan’s scoring opportunities. The early breakthroughs by Renuka and Deepti set the stage for a dominant performance, and Ghosh’s spectacular catch to remove captain Fatima further strengthened India’s grip on the game.

Nida Dar’s lone resistance

While most of Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled, all-rounder Nida Dar put up a valiant effort to provide some stability in the middle order. Dar scored 28 runs off 34 balls, striking one boundary, and tried to steady the innings after the flurry of wickets. She found some support from Syeda Aroob Shah, who remained unbeaten with 14 runs off 17 balls. Together, the pair put on a 28-run partnership for the eighth wicket, but it wasn’t enough to pose a significant challenge to India. Despite Dar’s efforts, Pakistan’s innings ended at 105/8, leaving India in a commanding position heading into their chase.

Pakistan kicked off their campaign in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on a strong note, defeating Sri Lanka by 31 runs in Match 2, held on Thursday, October 3, in Sharjah. One of the standout moments of the game came from Pakistan’s Omaima Sohail, who delivered a crucial, game-changing ball that clean-bowled Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Madavi, marking a pivotal highlight in the match.

Omaima Sohail’s stunning delivery

In the 6th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, facing Omaima, Madavi misjudged a slower, straighter ball aimed directly at the stumps.
