??The 36-year-old, who holds the rank of Honorary Lieutenant Co??lonel, wore his official uniform of the Territorial Army for the ceremony.

April 2 is a special date in more ways than one fo????r Dhoni. On this day, seven years ago, MSD guided India to the ICC World Cup title at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The first citizen of India then put the badge on his uniform and also handed him the letter stating the same.?? Then again Dhoni saluted the President before marching his way back.

Mahi’s wife Sakshi was also present at the Rashtrapati Bhavan along with all the dignitaries from the central government and others who gave a huge round of applause from the moment he got up till the time he was done.

Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni will be conferred with the Padma Bhushan aw??ard on the Republic Day at the Rashtrapati Bhavan as the government of India ??cleared his name in the sports category.

Dhoni will be receiving this award along with Rio Olympics silver medallist PV Sindhu and chief national badminton coach, Pullela Gopichand.

Dhoni’s name for India’s third highest civilian honour, Padma Bhushan, was recommended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Dhoni was previously awarded the Padma Shri in 2009 for his ??achie?vements in cricket. In 2007, Mahi was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award by the Sports Ministry.

MSD, who led the team to two World Cup wins, is India’s most successful captain across all three formats. Dhoni led Team India in 60 Tests, winning a record 27 of them. He stepped down as limited-overs skipper on 5th January but continues to be part of the ODI and T20I squads.
