The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially denied senior players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi‘s requests to participate in the upcoming Global T20 Canadian League.ย While most P?akistani players have received No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to compete in franchise tournaments, the PCB has opted not to grant NOCs to these three players.

While some fans doubt the PCB’s decision on these players, the PCB has outlined four specific reasons supporting its stance. The board has indicated that although circumstances may evolve in the coming weeks, its current rationale for declining the requests appears justified.

“The PCB received NOC requests from Babar, Rizwan, and Shaheenย  for the Global T20 event, among others. After considering Pakistan’s congested cricket schedule from August 2024 to March 2025, which includes nine ICC World Test Championship matches and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 next year, and following consultations with the players and the national selection committee, the requests have been declined,” stated a PCB release.

Reasons behind PCB’s denial of NOC

Coaches disapproved the idea

PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi consulted coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten on the matter, but both coaches opposed the idea, as confirmed by a reliable source within the board. Following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the T20 World Cup, there is a consensus that the team needs its top players to play pivotal roles. The coaches’ input played a significant role in the decision not to grant NOCs to the players, ultimately dismissing the proposal.

Multi-format burden

According to a source within the board, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) considered the all-format responsibiliti?es of Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan as a key factor in its decision.

“The board has granted NOCs to players like Shadab Khan who are not involved in all formats to participate in certain leagues. However, because Babar, Shaheen, and Rizwan play across all formats, the situation differs for them,” the source explained.

Busy schedule

International commitments take precedence fo?r Pakistan amidst their busy schedule for 2024-25. Recently, the PCB affirmed that Pakistan is slated to participate in five T20Is and three ODIs in New Zealand immediately following the Champions Trophy in February-March. Additionally, Pakistan will host Bangladesh, England, and West Indies for the series at home while embarki??ng on tours to South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand for comprehensive all-format contests. Therefore, the PCB emphasizes their key players need to maintain peak fitness and readiness for these demanding international engagements.

Global T20 league ICC status

The PCB is also concerned about the status of the GT20 league, which has not yet received approval from the ICC. This concern played a significant role in the decision made by Pakistan cricket’s highest authority.

betvisa cricketMohammad Rizvan – Cricket Times - betvisa live //betvisa68.com/2024/04/fans-brutally-troll-shaheen-afridi-for-comparing-mohammad-rizwan-with-legendary-don-bradman/ Tue, 23 Apr 2024 07:56:08 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=132563

In the recent T20I match between Pakistan and New Zealand, Mohammad Rizwan achieved a significant milestone, reaching 3000 runs in T20 International cricket. This feat places him in an elite club, making him only the second Pakistani batter to achieve this milestone after captain Babar Azam. However, what should have been a moment of celebration for Rizwan and Pakistani cricket quickly turned ?into a heated debate, fueled by a controversial comparison and subsequent fan reaction.

Shaheen Afridi compares Mohammad Rizwan with Sir Don Bradman

Following Rizwan’s achievement, his teammate Shaheen Shah Afridi took to social media to congratulate him. However, it was Afridi’s comparison of Rizwan to the legendary Sir Don Bradman that ignited a firestorm of criticism and ridicule?????????????????????????? from f??ans.

“Cheers to Mohammad Rizwan – the Bradman of T20 cricket and Pakistan’s SuperMan for hitting 3,000 T20I runs! Your impact has transformed the game and silenced the skeptics. Keep soaring, champion! You’re an inspiration to many,” Afridi’s wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Fans troll Afridi for controversial comparison

While Afridi’s intention was likely to praise Rizwan’s remarkable achievement and influence on the game, many fans found the comparison to Bradman absurd and unwarranted. Bradman, often regarded as the greatest batter of all time, is a figure of unparalleled stature in cricketing history. To liken Rizwan, or any contemporary player, to Bradman seemed, to many, hyperbolic and disrespectful to Bradman’s legacy.

The reaction on social media was swift and unforgiving. Fans wasted no time in expressing their disbelief and amusement at Afridi’s comparison, with many labeling it as “absurd” and “ridiculous.” Memes and sarcastic remarks flooded social media platforms, with some fans poking fun at Afridi’s statement.

The first T20I of three-match series between England and Pakistan was abandoned after the rain came during England’s innings at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Saturday.

Earlier, England batsman Tom Banton went hammer and tongs after Pakistan won the toss and asked the hosts to bat on a cloudy evening. Getting an opportunity to open the innings, young Banton smashed a 42-ball 71, including five huge sixes and 4 fours. After he went back to the pavilion, Pakistan stormed back in the game taking four wickets for just 14 runs.

Thus, the Eoin Morgan-led side couldn’t capitalise on the start provided by Banton. Shadab Khan proved to be a touch expensive initially, but it was the leggie who got the aggressive opener’s wicket, and Pakistan turned the screw on the hosts before rain stopped play. The second match of the series will be played at the same venue on Sunday (August 30).

‘Isko Urdu Samajh Aati Hai’

Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan is a chatterbox from behind the wickets and once his suggestion helped Shadab to a large extent. It all happened in the 15th over of England’s innings.

In the fourth delivery of the over, Rizwan asked Shadab to plot Moeen Ali’s dismissal on his own since the latter understand the Urduย language. Moeen got the strike after Sam Billings drove a tossed-up delivery down to long-off for a single. In the very next ball, Shadab indeed got Ali out much to Pakistan’s delight.

The leggie bowled a flatter delivery outside the off-stump and Moeen made a tentative push at it. The ball found his outside edge and Rizwan had his travails while catching it. The wicketkeeper couldn’t catch the ball on the first attempt but grabbed it in the second time.
