Defending champions West Indies have recalled fast bowler Ravi Rampaul for the upcoming edition of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The 36-year Rampaul is back in the Windies T20I squad for the first time since 2015.

“Ravi will boost the team’s wicket-taking options in the power-play and the middle phase and will provide another option for the death overs,” Roger Harper, lead selector for Cricket West Indies (CWI), was quoted as saying by ICC.

All-rounder Roston Chase is another notable inclusion in the 15-member squad, earni?ng a T20I call-up for the first time, thanks to his form in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021.

“Roston Chase has shown that he is a very capable T20 player,” Harper said. He has shown the ability to knit the innings together while still scoring at a fast rate with a low dot-ball percentage. He will be an excellent foil for the explosive players in the team,” Harper added.

Meanwhile, Carlos Brathwaite – who famously hit four consecutive sixes off England’s Ben Stokes in the final over of the 2016 T20 World Cup to clinch the title for his nation – has been left out for the 2021 edition.

Senior pro Kieron Pollard will continue to lead the Men in Maroon, while young Nicholas Pooran will be his deputy.

The 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will begin in Oman on October 17. West Indies are placed in Group 1 and will take on England, Sou?th Africa, Australia and two qualifying teams from Round 1 in the league stage.

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne?? Bravo has taken a U-turn on retirement and has an?nounced his comeback to international cricket.

Bravo, who had announced his international retirement in Oc??tober 2018, has now reversed his decision making himself available for selection in the West Indies T20I squad.

The 36-year-old last featured for West Indies in a T20I in September 2016; injuries and differences with the board kept him out of contention after that. N?ow, with Ricky Skerritt as the Cricket West Indies chief, Kieron Pollard as the new T20I captain, and Phil Simmons as the coach, Bravo is set to make a T20I return.

Changes in the administration led to Dwayne Bravo to take the decision

Bravo’s fallout with the previous administrating management of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is known to everyone. This led to his non-selection in the team, and the man himself has cleared in a statement released that he has decided to make a comeback due to the changes in the top management.

“Today, I confirm the announcement of my decision to return to International Cricket to all my fans and well-wishers all around the world. It’s no secret that this big announcement has come as a result of the changes made at the administration level,” he stated in a media release.

“For a while now, I have been contemplating my return to international cricket, and my decision was solidified by these positive changes. With the current leadership of coach Phil Simmons and captain Kieron Pollard, I’m really excited about this comeback and about the chance to be part of something really special.”

Bravo had won the T20 World Cup twice with the West Indies in 2012 and 2016; his return to international cricket will be a massive boost to We??st Indies ahead of ?the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia.

Also, he has immense experience of over 400 T20 matches, and if selected, the Caribbeans’ fortunes in the shortest format might change.

The Men in Maroon recently lost to India in the three-match T20I series. They wi?ll next face Ireland at home in 3 ODIs and as many T20Is in January 2020. It remains to be seen if Bravo will be selected in the team.
