After the West Indies dominated them in the ODI series and won all three games, Bangladesh finally got their revenge back in the T20I series. The Bangladeshi side won the final match of the series in an emphatic manner by 80 runs putting an end to the run-chase in just 16.4 overs. The entire West Indies batting line-up collapsed like a pack of cards in front of a solid bowling display from Rishad Hossain, who clinched 3 wickets for his side. Taskin Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan were also impressive with the ball and took 2 wickets each.

Bangladesh dominated West Indies both with the bat and bowl

It was a day that went well for the Bangladeshi team from the beginning. Litton Das won the toss and elected to bat first. A solid start from the two openers provided the much needed base to put runs on the board. With conditions favouring the batters at the Arnos Vale Ground, Bangladesh managed to put together a total of 189/7 runs in their 20 overs. The highlight of Bangladesh batting effort was an unbeaten 72 run knock from Jaker Ali off 41 balls. Ali smashed 6 sixes in his emphatic innings to put Bangla??desh in an advantageous position.

A disappointing performance from the West Indies

The West Indies repeated similar mistakes in the final match of the series. The bowlers proved to be too costly for the team, particularly Alzarri Joseph who gave away 59 runs in his 4 overs. The complacency from the bowling side passed on to the batters as soon as Windies came out to chase the total. Soft dismissals were the story of the night for the Caribbean batting effort. It started with Johnson Charles who gave away his wicket due to a miscommunication with Rovman Powell on the striker’s end and a direct hit from Hossain. Charles was looking set, scoring 23 runs off 18 balls. Romario Shepherd too, gave away his wicket cheaply scoring 33 runs for his team. The continuous fall of wickets for the West Indies resulted in the entire squad getting all-out for just 109 runs. Ali was named Player of the match for his brilliant batting display. Hasan, who has been a constant pillar of strength for his team both with the bat and bowl, was named Player of the series.

Bangladesh created history with a remarkable 27-run victory over the West Indies in the second T20I at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown.  This series win is a monumental moment for Bangladesh cricket, as they secured their first T20I series victory in the Caribbean and ended a six-year wait for a bilateral series win against the West Indies. Shamim Hossain‘s decisive contribution earned him the Player of the Match award. The final match of the series presents an opportunity for Bangladesh to complete a historic whitewash, while the West Indies will aim to salvage some pride in what has been a challenging series.

Shamim Hossain’s heroics power Bangladesh’s innings

Opting to bat first after losing the toss, Bangladesh managed to post a modest 129/7 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Shamim, whose explosive 35 not out off 17 balls, featuring two fours and two sixes, provided the much-needed late momentum. Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed a valuable 26 off 25 balls, while Jaker Ali chipped in with 21. West Indies’ bowling unit was disciplined, with Gudakesh Motie (2/25) and Akeal Hosein (1/16) leading the charge.

Bangladesh’s innings faced early jolts, as they lost Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan within the powerplay. The middle-order partnership between Mehidy and Jaker stabilized the innings before Shamim’s fireworks in the final overs lifted the total to a competitive level.

West Indies collapse under pressure

Chasing 130, the West Indies faltered against a disciplined Bangladesh bowling attack. Taskin Ahmed‘s fiery spell (3/16) dismantled the top order, removing key players Brandon King and Andre Fletcher early. Mahedi Hasan‘s all-round brilliance shone as he claimed 2/20 and kept the run rate in check.

Roston Chase tried to anchor the innings with a gritty 32 off 34, but the lack of support from the other batters proved costly. Hosein’s late effort of 31 off 31 was the only other notable contribution, as the West Indies were bowled out for 102 in 18.3 overs. Rishad Hossain (2/12) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/22) provided crucial break??throughs, ensuring the hosts?? never regained momentum.

In the first T20I match between West Indies and Bangladesh at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St. Vincent, on Sunday, Akeal Hosein showcased his exceptional bowling skills. The West Indies left-arm spinner dismissed Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan with a brilliant piece of spin bowling in the t?hird over of the inn??ings.

Akeal Hosein shines with a stunning dismissal of Tanzid Hasan

Hosein’s delivery, a deceptive arm ball, caught Tanzid off guard as the batter misjudged the trajectory. Attempting a pull shot, Tanzid played back to what he thought was a turning delivery, only for the ball to remain straight ?and crash into the off-stump. Tanzid was sent back to the pavilion after scoring just 6 runs off 11 balls, including one boundar??????????????????????????y. The dismissal was a masterstroke of spin bowling that highlighted Hosein’s skill and game awareness.

Here is the video:

Hosein’s magic didn’t end with Tanzid. On the very next delivery, he dismissed Bangladesh captain Litton Das, putting the visitors in a precarious position. Litton, visibly surprised by Hosein’s subtle variation, chipped a simple catch back to the bowler while attempting a cautious push. The delivery, a full and straight-arm ball, swung in slightly and forced an error in judgment?.

Litton’s dismissal for a golden duck underscored Hosein’s ability to exploit even the slightest lapses in concentration. By the end? of his four-ov??er spell, Hosein had remarkable figures of 2/13, a performance that cemented his role as a key player in the West Indies bowling attack.
