“He’s not going to come round quite quick enough, especially for the first part of the World Cup. There is a duty of care with him. Wright further emphasized that unless Archer makes a miraculous recovery from his injuries, it’s unlikely he will be included in the final and revised World Cup squad, a decision that needs to be confirmed by September 28, 2023, according to International Cricket Council (ICC).

“When you look at that squad, you cannot have a bowler that might not be available for the second half and definitely not for the first half. If something miraculous happens with him, we have time to change things but I just don’t see it happening. It is just coming too soon and we can’t rush this decision on Jof (Jofra Archer) this time,” Wright concluded.

Afghanistan managed to survive 50 overs in ??their innings but lost the match by 150 runs.

After England’s innings, Iceland Cricket took to twitter to take a jibe at the Afghan spinner.

“We’ve just heard that Rashid Khan has scored Afghanistan’s first century of the #CWC19! Wow! 110 from 56 balls. The most runs ever scored by a bowler in the World Cup or something. Well batted young man. #ENGvAFG #AFGvENG,” Iceland Cricket tweeted.

After this tweet, Wright came out in support of Rashid ??and criticised Iceland Cricket, calling their tweet rubbish. The 34-year-old Wright adv??ised them to be respectful towards Rashid as the latter has done so much for Afghanistan cricket and associate members.

“Rubbish tweet. Rather than trying to be funny why not be respectful to someone that has done so much for cricket and especially associate members,” Wright wrote in reply.

England fast bowler Stuart Broad also came in support of Rashid and responded to Wright’s tweet.

Essex skipper Ryan ten Doeschate displayed an outstanding effort on the field at the boundary rope to take Sussex batsman Luke Wright‘s catch.

Ravi Bopara was bowling his second over of the spell when Wright decided to take him on and struck the ball right over the bowler’s head.

On seeing this, Doeschate came runn?ing down from straighter long off position towards the boundary and got his hands to catch the ball. He soon realized that the ball might get past the boundary for a six. In an almost a reflex action the 37-year-old Dutch threw the ball back in the air and completed the catch by coming back inside the boundary.

Before asking for a TV review to confirm the catc??h, the on-field umpire could not stop himself from laughing.
