In a gripping encounter at the JSCA International Stadium Complex, the Gujarat Giants managed to fend off a spirited challenge from the Bhilwara Kings to secure a nail-biting victory by a margin of?? three runs.

Gujarat Giants Innings

Put in to bat first, the Gujarat Giants put up a competitive total of 172/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Chris Gayle’s explosive knock of 52 runs off 27 deliveries set the tone for the innings, well-supported by contributions from Richard Levi, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala and Chirag Khurana.

However, the Bhilwara Kings’ bowlers, led by Jesal Karia and Rahul Sharma, kept the Giants in check with timely breakthroughs. Karia’s two wickets and Sharma’s disciplined spell ensured the Kings had a fighting chance to chase down the target.

Bhilwara Kings Innings

In response, the Kings, led by the magnificent batting display of Lendl Simmons, came tantalizingly close to the target. Simmons showcased a masterclass with his outstanding 99 not out off just 61 balls, steering the Kings’ innings with 12 fours and 3 sixes.

Despite Simmons’ heroics, the Gujarat Giants’ bowling attack, spearheaded by Rayad Emrit and Ishwar Chaudhary, held their nerves in the dying moments of the game. Their crucial wickets at key junctures hindered the Kings’ chase, leading to their eventual score of 169/7 in 20 overs.

West Indies opener Lendl Simmons announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday (July 18). Simmons, who made his debut for the West Indies way back in December 2006 in an ODI against Pakistan,? represented the Caribbean nation for 16 long years.

Simmons was a part of West Indies’ triumphant T20 World Cup campaigns in 2012 and 2016. His masterful innings of 82 in the T20 WC semifinal against India in 2016 is often? regarded as? one of his best knocks.

Simmons’ last outing in national colours came in T20 WC in 2021, where he made only 16 off 35 balls in his side’s loss to South Africa. Overall, in 144 games across formats, the right-handed batter accumulated 3763 runs in international cricket.

“When I wore the Maroon Colours of the West Indies Cricket for the first time on debut in ODIs on December 7, 2006, little did I know that my international career would have lasted 16 years, but my passion and love for the sport fuelled me every day,” Simmons said in his statement on Twitter.

“I’m closing this chapter of International cricket, having played 144 matches and scoring 3763 runs from all formats. I want to thank the West Indies Cricket Team for the opportunities, and I wish the new crop of WI players all the best and to keep on believing in yourselves and your abilities,” he added.

Notably, Simmons’ announcement came on the same day when his former teammate Denesh Ramdin decided to hang up his boots for West Indies. Ramdin, who debuted on July 13, 2006, in a Test match against Sri Lanka, finished h??is intern?ational career with 74 Tests, 139 ODIs and 71 T20Is.

R??amdin managed to score 2898 runs in red-ball format, 2200 in ODIs and 636 in?? the shortest format. Overall, the right-handed batter smashed six hundreds and 24 half-centuries in the international arena.

“It is with great pleasure that I announce my retirement from international cricket. The past 14 years have been a dream come true. I fulfilled my childhood dreams by playing cricket for Trinidad and Tobago and the West Indies. My career afforded me the opportunity to see the world, make friends from different cultures and still be able to appreciate where I came from,” Ramdin wrote on Instagram.

“Even though I am announcing my retirement from international cricket, I am not retiring from professional cricket. I will still be playing franchise cricket around the world,” he added.

betvisa888 betLendl Simmons – Cricket Times - betvisa888 //betvisa68.com/2021/11/lendl-simmons-reveals-his-all-time-t20-xi/ Tue, 23 Nov 2021 04:39:21 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=60613

The limited-overs specialist from the West Indies, Lendl Simmons, has picked his all-time T20 XI and named MS Dhoni as captain. Simmons picked four Indians and as many West Indies players in his team. Surprisingly, Simmons did not select T20 veterans like Suresh Raina and Lasith Malinga in his playing XI.

As openers, Simmons named his countryman Chris Gayle, who is the highest run-scorer in white-ball cricket for West Indies and India’s current T20I skipper Rohit Sharma, who has scored four tons in the shortest format and ?won five IPL titles for Mumbai Indians (MI).

For the 3rd and 4th spot, Simmons went with India’s run-machine Virat Kohli and South African legend AB de Villiers. Virat is the second-highest run-scorer in T20Is and all-time leading run-scorer in the IPL. Whereas De Villiers has?? played 78 T20Is, scoring 1672 runs with a strike?? rate of 135.16. The former Proteas skipper has recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

Further in the middle order, Simmons selected the power-hitter Kieron Pollard and Indian legend ?Dhoni. When it comes to limited-overs cricket, Pollard is a brute force. Apart from being a West Indies skipper, he is also the captain of Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). So far, Pollard has featured in 93 T20Is where he has scored 1468 runs with a strike rate of 135.84.

Speaking about Dhoni, he started his T20I career by leading Team India to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2007. Recently, he led Chennai bas??ed franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to victo??ry in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Simmons has picked Dwayne Bravo as the second all-rounder in his side. Bravo has appeared in all the seven T20 Worl?d Cups and lifted the trophy in 2012 and 2016 for his national team. He played 90 T20Is for West Indies, scoring 1245 runs and bagging 78 wickets.

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and Sunil Narine of West Indies were the two specialist spinners in Simmons’ line-up. For the pacers, the Trinidadian went with India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kagiso Rabada of South Africa.

Lendl Simmons’ all time XI:

Chris Gayle, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Kieron Pollard, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Dwayne Bravo, Rashid Khan, Sunil Narine, ??Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kagiso Rabada

West Indies produced a scintillating effort with both bat and ball to hand over another defeat to Australia in the ongoing five-match T20I series on Saturday. It was the second match of the leg, and the Windies crushed the ??visitors by 56 run?s to take a 2-0 lead.

The hero of the match was explosive batsman Shimron Hetmyer, who lit up the Daren Sam??my Stadium in St Lucia with a wonderful 36-ball 61??, including 2 fours and 4 sixes.

However, much before Hetmyer’s magical knock, it was opener Lendl Simmons, who laid the foundation ??of the big total by playing a quickfire knock of 30 runs at a strike rate of 142.86 with three maximums.

Simmons showed his vintage avatar and punished the Aussie bowlers right from the w??ord go. During his short yet explosive knock, the right-handed batsman sent a ball on? the roof at Daren Sammy Stadium.

It all happened in the 5th over of the Australian innings bowled by experienced pacer Mitchell Starc. The left-armer bowled a good length ball between middle and off-stump line, and Simmons quickly read it as he flicked the white leather for a huge six over square leg. The Trini?dadian timed the ball so perfectly that it landed on the roof of the stadium.

Here is the video:

Apart from Simmons and Hetmyer, Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell also made valuable contributions down the order?? to propel West Indies to a mammoth 196/4 in their allotted 20 overs. While Bravo scored 47 not out off 34 balls, Russell remained unbeaten on 24 from just eight deliveries.

In reply, the visiting side got bundled out for 140, losing the contest by 56 runs. Mitchell Marsh was the highest scorer for Aaron Finch’s Aussie team. Marsh made 54 off 42 balls, bu??t no one supported him to form a decent partnership.

The third T2?0I will take place at the s??ame venue on Monday (July 12).

KL Rahul starred with an unbeaten century to guide Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to a massive 97-run victory against??? Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), on Thursday (September 24).

KXIP skipper led from the front as he played a s??ensational knock of 132* runs at an astounding strike rate of 191.3. His innings was studded with 14 fours and seven towering sixes.

With this knock, Rahul not only became the first centurion of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, he also broke Rishabh Pant’s record of the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the league.

Rahul rarely broke any sweat en-route his century, relied heavily on his flamboyance and incision to inflict severe damage on RCB’s bowlers.

The stylish right-hander, however, did c?arry a slice of luck with himself. None other than RCB skipper Virat Kohli himself dropped Rahul twice in the space of six de?liveries.

The Mangalore-born well-capitalized on the ?missed chances and scored 42 runs from the last nine balls he played after the second drop.

Let’s take a look at the first centurion of every IPL season played so far.

Lendl Simmons was the first b??atsman to score a century in the 2014 edition of the cash-rich leagu?e. Simmons scored 100 off just 61 balls against KXIP to propel MI across the finishing line.

The highly-anticipated final of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 treated spectators with an enthralling cricket match, espec?i??ally after the one-sided semi-final affairs.

Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) defeated St Lucia Zouks (SLZ) for the third successive occasion in the tournament, on Thursday ??(September 10).

Earlier, TKR captain, Kieron Pollard, won an impo??rtant toss and backed his team to chase down the total set by th??e Zouks.

After the early setback of Rahkeem Cornwall’s wicket, Mark Deyal (29 off 27) and Andre Fletcher (39 off 27) laid a solid foundation for the Zouks. The duo added 67 runs for the second wicket partnership.

Post-Deyal’s dismissal, the Zouks kept losing wickets in a cluster. From 77-1, SLZ was reduced to 117-5 after the loss of Mohammad Nabi’s wick??et. Pollard led by example during the phase as he scalped four wickets in his spell.

Ali Khan and Fawad Ahmed chipped in with a couple of wickets each and hardly conceded any in their respective quota of overs. TKR, with some fine bowling performance, bundled out the Zouks for 154 in 19.1 overs.

Defending the score, the Zouks started on the right foot by picking the early wickets of Tion Webster and Tim Seifert.

TKR had their backs to the walls, with the score reading at 19-2. What followed was a match-winning 137 run partnership between Lendl Simmons and Darren Bravo, which took the Knight ??Riders across the finishing?? line.

Simmons remained unbeaten for his 84 which came off just 49 deliveries. He scored eight fours and four sixes during his brilli??ant knock under pressu??re.

Bravo Junior ably supported Simmons at the other end and played a mature knock of 58*, coming off just 47 deliveries.

In the end, it turned out to be a comfortable eight-wicket win for the Knight Riders, who completed the run chase with 11?? balls to spare.

Simmons was adjudged as the ??‘Player of the Match?/strong> for his outstanding effort with the bat.

After a gruelling round-robin stage, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 moved to its business end of the tournament.

Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) met Jamaica Tallawahs (JT) for the first semi-final of the competition.

The highly-anticipated clash turned into an anti-climax as the fixture proved to be a one-sided affair.

TKR continued its unbeaten streak by clinching their eleventh consecutive win in the tournament, as they bulldozed over JT with nine-wickets in hand.

It was the spin trap laid by TKR which the Tallawahs had no answer to. The spinners shared all seven wickets amongst themselves and hardly ??conceded much in their miserly spells.

Akeal Hosein proved to be the top performer for the Knight Riders as he conceded only 14 in his four overs and scalped three crucial wickets upfront.

Khary Pierre, Sunil Narine and Fawad Ahmed choked the Tallawahs with their spell of bowling. The Rovman Powell-led side could only post a paltry total of 107 in 20 overs in front of Kieron Pollard‘s men.

Webster-Simmons alliance takes Knight Riders home

Chasing 108, the Knight Riders rece??ived an early set back as the Tallawahs sent dangerous Narine back into the dugout.

Moreover, Lendl Simmons and Tion Webster helped their side cruise across the finishing line an unbeaten partnership of 97 runs.

Simmons entertained the spectators with his 44-ball 54, where he smashed six fours and two maximums. He was well supported by Webster at the other end, as he posted a 43-ball 44.

With the nine-wicket win, Knight Riders equalled Guyana Amazon Warriors’ (GAW) record of the most number of consecutive victories in a CPL season. TKR also booked their berth in the final. Hosein was adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’ for his match-winning spell.

The 23rd game of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) proved to be a one-sided contest. Table-toppers Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) bulldozed over bottom-placed St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKP) on ??Wednesday at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba.

SKP skipper Rayad Emrit opted to bowl first after winning the toss. The spectators were treated with ‘the Lendl Simmons show?upfront.

The flamboyant strokemaker announced his return to form in style with a majestic 96, which came off 63 deliveries. Simmons smacked seven boundaries and six maximums in the process and boasted a strike-rate of 152.3.

He was well supported by Darren Bravo at the other end, who registered? a run-a-ball 36. The ??Knight Riders cruised towards a score of 174 on the back of a 144-run partnership between Bravo and Simmons.

Coming out to bat, the Patriots was never really in the run-chase, with the early wicket of Evin Lewis. Chris Lynn (34) and Joshua da Silva (29) consumed way t??oo many deliveries upfront and c?ould not take the game deep.

After Lynn’s dismissal, the Patriots fell like a pack of cards and handed a whopping 59-run-win to the Knight Riders.

Akeal Hosein (1/15), Pravin Tambe (1/12) and Sikander Raza (3/15) were the pick ??of the bowlers for the Knight Riders.

TKR proved to be the team to beat in the tournament yet again as they created history by becoming the second side in the CPL to win eight matches in a row. They dismantled the opposition even without the presence of Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine.

Simmons was adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match?/strong> for setting u?p the victory for the Knight?? Riders.
