Cricket Australia (CA) has unveiled the central contracts for the 2024-2025 season, awarding new deals to 23 players. However, the notable absence of veteran all-rounder Marcus Stoinis stands out as the biggest omission from the upcoming season’s contracts.

Marcus Stoinis’ absence

Stoinis, who recently dealt with injuries, was the part of the Australia‘s triumph in the ODI World Cup 2023 held in India. Nevertheless, his performance in the tournament was underwhelming, tallying only 97 runs and four wickets across six matches. Despite this, Stoinis remains in contention for a spot in Australia’s potential squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, slated to occur in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) in June. But he is?? not among the players listed in the central contracts, alongside several other notable names.

Notable omissions and new talents

Apart from Stoinis, notable players like all-rounder Ashton Agar, opener Marcus Harris, pacer Michael Neser and the recently-retired David Warner are also left out of Cricket Australia’s list of central contracts. Instead, the board decided to extend new deals to a handful of promising new talents.

Further, Matt Short and Aaron Hardie are granted fresh contracts subsequent to their promotion to the contract roster earlier in the season. Alongside them, fast bowler Nathan Ellis also received a renewed deal, with Xavier Bartlett rounding out the list as the newest addition.

George Bailey’s confidence

Cricket Australia’s selection chair, George Bailey, expressed confidence in the players awarded new contracts, affirming their potential for enduring inter??national careers. He underscored the rationale behind extending contracts to these emerging talents, emphasizing their promising future in the cricketing arena.

“Matt, Aaron and Xavier have been extremely impressive in the early stages of their international careers. Their performances and the way they have embraced the international stage have been exciting to watch. The panel believes they have strong futures and deserve their contracts as they work towards striving to become regulars in the Australian setup,” Bailey was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.au

The participation of three Afghanistan players, including Naveen ul Haq, in the upcoming 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is in doubt.

Afghanistan cricket board initiates disciplinary measures and investigation

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has decided not to issue No Objection Certificates (NOC) to these players for overseas franchise-based leagues for the next two years. This decision comes as a disciplinary measure af??ter the players expressed a desire to be released from their central contracts. The ACB has reprimanded all three for prioritizing franchise-based leagues over Afghanistan cric??ket and has formed a committee to investigate the matter.

Naveen-ul-Haq presence is doubtful

Naveen, contracted with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), made a significant impact with eleven wickets from eight matches in IPL 2023, helping his team reach the playoffs. Retained ahead of the IPL 2024 auction at INR 50 lakh, he was expected to play a crucial role in the new season on the slow pitches of the Ekana Cricket Stadium. However, uncertainty looms over whether he will be granted an NOC by the ACB for the competition. Considering the uncertainty surrounding Naveen’s participation, LSG might explore alternative options.

1. Ben Dwarisus (Australia)

  • Base Price: INR 50 lakh
  • Reason for consideration: Ben Dwarisus, despite going unsold in the IPL 2024 auction, brings valuable skills to the table. As an Australian cricketer, he has experience in challenging conditions, and his base price is relatively reasonable. Dwarisus is known for his aggressive batting style and can contribute as a pace-bowling all-rounder. His availability in the unsold pool presents an opportunity for LSG to acquire a versatile player who can make significant contributions with both bat and ball.

2. Matt Henry (New Zealand)

Matt Henry

  • Base Price: INR 75 lakh
  • Reason for consideration: Matt Henry, despite going unsold in the auction, is an accomplished fast bowler from New Zealand. He possesses the ability to swing the ball and has a proven track record in international cricket. Henry’s skills can be particularly effective in Indian conditions, where swing bowlers can exploit early moisture in the pitches. Considering the demanding nature of the IPL and the need for quality fast bowlers, LSG should target Henry to strengthen their bowling attack.

3. Lance Morris (Australia):

  • Base Price: INR 75 lakh
  • Reason for consideration: Lance Morris, another Australian player who remained unsold, is a promising fast bowler. His pace and ability to generate bounce make him a valuable asset, especially in T20 cricket. Morris has the potential to surprise batters with his raw pace, and the IPL provides a platform for him to showcase his talent. LSG, in need of bowling options, should consider targeting Morris to bolster their pace attack and add variety to their bowling lineup.

betvisa casinoLance Morris – Cricket Times - betvisa login //betvisa68.com/2023/12/australian-legend-brett-lee-pinpoints-a-bowler-who-reminds-him-of-young-pat-cummins/ Sun, 10 Dec 2023 03:53:42 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=111820

Renowned Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins, celebrated for his lethal pace, accuracy, and unwavering determi??nation in Test cricket, has been a linchpin in the Australian bowling attack. Cummins, who burst onto the scene as a teenager in 2011, faced setbacks due to injuries but made a triumphant comeback, showcasing shee??r talent and work ethic.

Brett Lee identifies a rising star with shades of young Pat Cummins

In a fascinating comparison, Australian cricket legend and two-time ODI World Cup champion, Brett Lee has drawn parallels between Cummins and the emerging talent, young tearaway pacer Lance Morris. Lee, impressed by Morris’s prowess, sees striking similarities with Cummins during his early years. Morris, having received the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award in 2022, has earned a call-up to fourteen member Australia’s Test squad for the first Test against Pakistan at Perth.

“He actually reminds a lot of a young Pat Cummins. That’s a massive rap because ‘Cummoâ€?first came & burst on the scene back when he was about 17 years of age as the boy from Penrith with big blue eyes who was excited to bowl fast. He was like a sponge,” Lee was quoted as saying by Sen.com.au

“With the real limited time I’ve had the chance to speak to Lance, it’s just been that he’s just been excited about cricket, he understands his game. He’s got a very switched-on brain, as most fast bowlers do, I might add (laughs),” the 47-year-old added.

Australia’s fast-bowling dynamics

Despite Morris’s high talent quotient, Lee suggested that he might need to bide his time as Cummins, along with Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, holds the position of a fi?rst-choice fast bowlers for the upcoming international men’s summer in Australia.

“I’m super impressed; he’s got a big career ahead of him. What’s going to happen this year, though? I’m not sure, because there’s three guys ahead of him that are doing a great job,” the New South Wales-born cricketer concluded.

First Test against Pakistan

As the first Test between Australia and Pakistan approaches in Perth on Thursday, December 14, all eyes will be on both Cummins, the established maestro, and potential debutant Morris, the rising star, adding an extra layer of intrigue to Australia’s fast-bowling dynamics.

In a significant development, Australian fast bowler Lance Morris is on the brink of making his Test debut in the upcoming series against Pakistan. The three-match Test series is set to commence on December 14, an??d Morris has been recalled for the Perth Test.

Lance Morris rewarded for his consistent performances in FC cricket

Having been part of the Australian Test squad since last summer, the right-arm speedster has impressed selectors with his skills and consistent performances in first-class cricket. Morris boasts an impressive record, having featured in 22 first-class matches where he has taken 74 wickets at an average of 25.44. His performances include ??notable achievements such as a couple of five-wicket hauls, showcasing his ability to make a significant impact with the ball.

Nathan Lyon replaces Todd Murphy

The Australian Test squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan sees minimal changes, with 10 players from the XI in the last Ashes Test retaining their spots in the 14-member squad. The only alteration comes in the form of Nathan Lyon, who has returned from a calf injury to replace Todd Murphy.

Meanwhile, left-handed opener David Warner, who had expressed his desire for a Test farewell in the New Year’s game against Pakistan, has been retained in the squad. Despite a challenging period in Test cricket, Warner’s inclusion is backed by selectors, especially after a remarkable double century against the same opponent in his 100th Test.

“This group, led by Pat Cummins, has built a strong resume over an extended period. We believe they have earned the opportunity to start in our first home Test match of the new World Test Championship cycle,” said chairman of selectors George Bailey in his official statement.

“Thirteen members of the squad were part of the victorious World Test Championship and successful Ashes tours over the winter and Lance Morris has been recalled after recovering from his back injury over the same period, ” he added.

Fast bowlers are often given cool names in cricket, which justify their fierce bowling. From Shoaib Akhtar to Brett Lee, bowlers from different te??ams have dominated with their scary pace.

In the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL), there is another bowler naming Lance Morris, who is breaking the ?charts with his extreme speed in the exciting league.

Lance has been named “Wild Thing” for his super-fast bowling. The 21-year-old bowler exhibited his ultimate pace in the 30th match between Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars.

During the fourth over of the Renegades innings, Lance bowled a good length delivery at the off-stump, which was slammed by Shaun Marsh. However, it did more damage to Marsh’s bat.

The impact of Lance’s ball was so hard that Marsh’s bat got split into two parts. Marsh was seen raising his broken bat to indicate what exactly happened.

The official Twitter handle of BBL po??sted a video ??of the incident.

“Lance’ Wild Thing’ Morris has his first Big Bash victim… Shaun Marsh’s bat!! #BBL09,” tweeted BBL.

In the match, Renegades posted 168-7 ??in their stipulated 20 overs. Marsh was their highest scorer (63).

Stars chased down the target with eight balls to spare and won the match by 7 wickets, thanks to the p?henomenal batting display by Glenn Maxwell, who smashed 83 off just 45 balls.
