Adding further intensity to the competition, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka – full member teams with a rich cricketing legacy – are set to participate in the tournament.

The teams are divided into two groups: Group A comprises Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Pakistan, while Group B features Bangladesh, Japan, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The group stage clashes promise riveting encounters as teams vie for supremacy a?nd aim to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Indian team’s superior performance continues in the ongoing U19 World Cup as they crunched the first-timers Japan by ten wickets.

Indian bowlers completely devastated the Japanese batting line-up folding them on just 41 runs. This was also the joint second-lowest score in the history of the Under 19 World Cup??.

Kartik Tyagi kicked-off the proceedings after taking two wickets consecutively in the fi??fth over of Japan’s innings. Then came the leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi who dismantled J?apan’s top-and-middle order claiming four wickets. He finished off with outstanding figures of 8-3-5-4.

The Indian openers wasted no time in chasing down the low tota?l. The duo ??of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kumar Kushagra took just 29 balls to win the game for India by ten wickets.

India, who? are now almost into the quarterfinals, will next face New Zealand on Friday (Jan 24) at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein.

The 2020 edition of the ICC Under-19 World Cup began in South Africa on Friday. The hosts have started the proceedings against Afghanistan in the tournament’s opener.

As many as 16 teams are taking part in the competition this time, and overall, 48 games will be play??ed before a champion team lifts the trophy.

The 16 teams have been split into grou??ps of four. The top two teams will advance to the Super League, whereas bottom two will pla?y the Plate League.

Being the defending champions, India will be looking forward to carry on the momentu?m and clinch the title once again, this time under the leadership of Priyam Garg.
