Club cricketer, Karan Tiwari, famous in the Mumbai circuit as ‘Junior Steyn’ was found hanging at his Malad residence on Wednesday. Tiwary’s action was uncannily similar to South African great Dale Steyn.

According to the testi?mony from his close friend, Karan was distraught after bein?g left out in the auctions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the 2020 season.

Reportedly, the 27-year-old was ??found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room, on Monday night. The family went suspicious after Karan locked himself up after 10.30 pm at night.

After repeated ca?lls from the family? went unheard, the family decided to force open the bedroom door.

Mumbai Police have lodged an Accidental Death Report (ADR) after the unfortunate demise?? of the Mumbai club cri??cketer.

“We have registered an ADR and investigations are on,” Babasaheb Salunkhe, senior Police Inspector at Kurar police station told Mid-day.

“Karan called his best friend in Udaipur to inform him that he is going to commit suicide. He was depressed after not getting a chance to play in the IPL. His friend informed Karan’s sister who lives in the same city. His sister called his mother, but by then, it was too late. Karan was declared dead before reaching the hospital,” the police officer briefed further.

“He was hoping to get selected for a state team. He was in talks with a few of them. He was a very promising cricketer and had uploaded his bowling and batting videos on his last WhatsApp status. It is shocking that he chose to take such a drastic step,”

Karan used to live with his brother and mother in his Malad residence. With no matches to look forward t??o during the COVID-19 hiatus, Tiwari was struggling with depression. This was the reason why he took the harsh step.

According to the BCCI rules, for a cricketer to be eligible for IPL auctions, a player must represent the state team. Despite his perform??ances, the bowler could not make a mark in the state team.

Pat Cummins bagged a lucrative deal from Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction.

The franchise bought him for Rs 15.5 crore, making him the costliest overseas buy in the history of IPL.

Till now, the Aussie pacer has not thought of things he would like to do with the money. However, he reveal??ed that his girlfriend Becky Boston has some plans.

“I don’t know [what to do with the money]. My girlfriend… the first thing she said was ‘we can buy the dog a couple more toys now.’ She has got her priorities sorted,” Cummins said while addressing the media in Melbourne.

“I will try my best not to change. Lucky, I have got good people around me,” he added.

For Cummins, the deal is not that much of importance than the f??act that he loves playing crick??et.

“The boys in the team are great but also my family and friends. I still play cricket because I love it. I am really fortunate and grateful for everything that has happened,” Cummins added further.

On Thursday, when Indian Premier League (IPL) auction was going?? on in a full-swing, a moment came when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought Tambe at his base price of 20 Lakhs.

Tambe, who is now the oldest player to be auctioned in the IPL history, said that he’s grateful to the Kolkata franchise and wants to give them back with his performance.

“KKR must have seen something in me to have bought me. I’m grateful to KKR team management. I want to give them back. If you get the support, you can go a long way,” added Tambe.

The auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 saw the pure domination of Australian players. They initiated the bidding war amongst franchises. Chennai Super? Kings (CSK) helped raise quite a few eyebrows when they went for leg-spinner Piyush Chawla at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction in Kolkata on Thursday.

CSK emerged victorious in a fierce bidding war and bought Chawla for ?a whopping Rs 6.75 crore. After buying Chawla, CSK now have a battery of spinners, including three leggies in their squad for the next IPL season.

Cha??wla joins a list of spinners, including Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Karn Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mitchell Santner, apart from part-timers in Suresh Raina and Kedar Jadhav.

Towards the end of the auction, CSK also bought R Sai Kishore – Tamil Nadu’s left-arm spinner, who finished as the leading wicket-taker in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2019.

After buying Chawla, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming admitted that captain MS Dhoni’s equation with the spin bowler was one of the primary reasons why they bid hard for him at the auction. Rating the seasoned leg-spinner very highly, Fleming revealed that the move was a well-thought-out decision as CSK heavily rely on the spinners at Chepauk’s low and slow surface.

“We traded very hard (for Chawla), and certainly, the captain has a great relationship with him. He’s proven that he’s a quality leg-spinner which we value very highly,” Fleming said on Thursday.

The CSK coach added: “He’s a different type of bowler than Karn Sharma. We also had to make some decisions around how all fit in, but it was an opportunity that came up, and we took it. We have a pretty well-balanced squad. We’ve always favored spin, our home ground is very spin dominant, so having a lot of spinners is not a bad thing.”
