betvisa loginICC World Test Championship 2021-23 – Cricket Times - betvisa888 casino //betvisa68.com/2023/06/ravichandran-ashwin-opens-up-about-wtc-2023-final-omission-reveals-the-trauma-his-family-go-through/ Thu, 22 Jun 2023 06:12:55 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=84033

It has been two weeks since Ravichandran Ashwin experienced the devastating exclusion from the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval. Despite his status as India’s leading wicket-taker in the second WTC cycle and the ICC’s top-ranked Test bowler, Ashwin was excluded from the team in favour of an additional seamer.

Despite his impressive credentials, including being India’s leading wicket-taker in the WTC cycle and top-ranked bowler in ICC Test rankings, Ashwin was surprisingly overlooked. The decision to sideline him and opt for an extra pacer has faced significant backlash for its impact on India’s performance in the final match.

Shortly after India’s second consecutive loss in the WTC final, Ashwin took to Twitter, sharing an explosive post that he later clarified was his way of seeking ‘closure’ regarding the situation. The emotional outburst from the talented cricketer highlighted the disappointment and frustration he felt due to his omission from such a crucial match.

Ashwin’s contributions throughout the WTC cycles have been exceptional. Of his career total of 474 wickets, an impressive 132 were taken during his participation in the two WTC cycles, making him the second-highest wicket-taker in the tournament’s history. In the 2021/23 cycle alone, Ashwin claimed 61 wickets, the highest by an Indian player and the third-highest overall.

Furthermore, Ashwin’s batting prowess, evident from his five Test centuries, adds to his value as a versatile player. But he was still ignored by captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid and?? the? decision has raised eyebrows within the cricketing community.

The experienced cricketer has recently shared details about the emotional hardships he and his family have endured throughout the years. He disclosed that his father is a heart patient, and the stress caused by such incidents as his omission from crucial matches takes a toll on his father’s health.

“The moment, the final finished I put out a tweet because I realised one thing is that I need closure. The moment I get the closure I can move on. There is no time to hang around. I have understood life a lot better now,” said Ashwin while talking to the Indian Express.

“The more I see it, the kind of trauma toll it takes on my family is incredible. My father has a heart problem and other issues. Every single game, every single day, something happens, he will call me. He is stressed. It’s very easy for me to go out and play because it is still in my control. For my father, it is not and he goes through double of what I do. So looking at this in hindsight, everybody on the outside is irrelevant,” Ashwin added.

In a surprising move that left cricket experts and fans bewildered, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma‘s decision to exclude off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin from the playing XI in the World Test Champi??o?nship (WTC) final against Australia sparked a wave of criticism and debate. Despite Ashwin’s recent success against Australia, the Indian team management opted for an all-pace attack with Ravindra Jadeja as the sole spinner.

The controversial decision proved costly for India, as they ultimately lost the crucial match to Australia. Ashwin’s absence became a focal point of discussion, with even legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar questioning the skipper’s choice.

In light of the uproar surrounding his exclusion, Ashwin has now shared his thoughts on not getting an opportunity to play in the summit clash against the Aussies. The world’s top-ranked Test bowler expressed his eagerness to participate in the high-stakes match and contribute to the team’s success.

However, Ashwin admitted that he had apprehensions about not bein?g included in the final XI. The Chenn?ai-born cricketer also spoke about his improvement when it comes to bowling in overseas conditions.

“I would have loved to play because I have played a part in us getting there. Even in the last final I got four wickets and bowled really well. Ever since 2018-19, my bowling overseas has been fantastic and I have managed to win games for the team. I am looking at it as a captain or coach and I’m just talking in hindsight, in their defence. So, the last time when we were in England, it was 2-2 with a drawn Test and they would have felt 4 pacers and 1 spinner is the combination in England. That is what they might have thought going into the final,” said Ashwin in an interview to The Indian? Express.

“I knew I was going to be left out 48 hours before. So, for me, my entire goal was to make sure I can contribute to the guys and help us win a title because I played a part in it,” he added.

Ravichandran Ashwin is a player who never shies away from talking his heart out. The star India spinner recently once again made it to the headlines for his candid take on the relationship Indian playe?rs share with each other on and off the field.

Speaking to Indian Express in an interview, Ashwin opened up about the loneliness of cricketers and went on to make a startling revelation. The Tamil Nadu off-spinner said that the teammates in the current era are no more your friends as they used to be once. He instead termed them colleagues who compete to move past you. Further in the interaction, Ashwin also confessed that it’s an isolated journey for players in the team, and they don’t even share experiences with each other as it should happen in a sport like cricket.

“This is an era where everybody is a colleague. Once upon a time when cricket was played, all your teammates were friends. Now, they’re colleagues. There’s a big difference because here people are there to advance themselves and to stride ahead of another person sitting to your right or left. So nobody’s got the time to say, ‘okay, boss what are you up to?’,” said Ashwin.

“In fact, I believe cricket gets better when you share it. It gets better when you when you understand another person’s technique and another person’s journey. But it doesn’t happen anywhere close to how much it must happen. Nobody will come for your help. It’s an isolated journey. Of course, you can reach any professional you want to, tap into some coach, you can pay and go, practice, try to feed of them and all that. But sometimes we forget that cricket is a very self-taught sport,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Ashwin was part of India’s World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 Final squad but didn’t find a place in the playing eleven of the summit clash despite being the world’s no. 1 ranked Test bowler. The d?ecision to drop him was criticised by ?many veteran cricketers, including the likes of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting etc.

In the meantime, Ashwin is currently leading Dindigul Dragon (DD) in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023, with no Team India matches until next month. The 36-year-old is likely to return to action at the international level when India tours West Indies for a multi-format tour in Jul??y.

The poor show of the Indian team at the World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 has left many veteran cricketers, experts and fans fuming. Notably, India faced an embarrassing 209-run defeat at the hands of ?Australia in the summit clash and finished as the runner-up of the event for the second consecutive time.

The Indian team failed in all departments in the final, and their performance was heavily criticized. Among all, legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also slammed the Rohit Sharma-led side for their debacle on the biggest stage. The ?73-year-old former batter even launched a scathing attack at the team over their upcoming multi-format West Indies tour.

It is worth mentioning that a day after the WTC Final 2023 loss, the Board of Cricket Control in Indi??a (BCCI) announced a tour to West ??Indies that commences from July 12? and features two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is.

Speaking to Star Sports about the failure of the Indian side in the WTC Final 2023, Gavaskar started by questioning the team’s approach and asked them to ?reassess what actually went wrong. He further went on to fire a scathing attack at the team over bilateral series and said that a win against a team like West Indies would mean nothing if they continue to repeat the mistakes on the big stage.

“I have been in the teams where we have been knocked out at 42 and we had been miserable in the change rooms. We were also criticised heavily. So, I think you cannot say that the current lot is not beyond criticism. They have to be very analytical about what happened, how they get out, why didn’t they bowl well, why didn’t they catch, was the selection of the Playing XI was the right thing, so all these factors have to come in,” said Gavaskar.

“You cannot brush this under the carpet like ‘yeah we have got two matches against West Indies’. West Indies are not the best team in the world. You just go and hammer them 2-0, 3-0, whatever the matches are. This doesn’t mean anything because when you come across and if you go to the finals and if you are playing Australia again, making the same mistakes, then how would you win the trophy?” he added.

The World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 turned out to be yet another disappointment for Team India as they lost the summit clash to eve??ntual champions Australia by ?209 runs. The Indian side failed to excel in any of the departments and finished as the runner-up of the event for the second consecutive time. Notably, India also reached the inaugural WTC Final in 2021 but faced a defeat at the hands of New Zealand.

The loss of India in the WTC 2023 Final has raised many questions regarding the team selection, batting and bowling. However, what is being considered the major blunder and poor decision-making of the side is not including Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing eleven for the final. The greatest of all time, Sachin Tendulkar, also ??reflected on the same after the match was over and termed the decision of not adding Ashwin to the team biz??arre.

Taking to? his offi?cial Twitter handle, Sachin started by congratulating Australia on the win and then highlighted the impact of Ashwin’s absence. The 2011 World Cup Winner said that he failed to understand the decision to exclude a star off-spinner like that of Ashwin’s calibre. Sachin even emphasized the fact that the Aussie side had five left-handed batters in their line-up.

“Congratulations to Team Australia on winning the #WTCFinal. @stevesmith49 and @travishead34 set a solid foundation on Day one itself to tilt the game in their favour. India had to bat big in the first innings to stay in the game, but they couldn’t. There were some good moments for Team India, but I fail to understand the exclusion of @ashwinravi99 in the playing XI, who is currently the number one Test bowler in the world,” wrote Sachin.

“Like I had mentioned before the match, skillful spinners don’t always rely on turning tracks, they use drift in the air and bounce off the surface to disguise their variations. Not to forget, Australia had 5 left-handers out of their top 8 batters,” he added.

It is worth mentioning that Ashwin is currently the world no. 1 ranked Test bowler and has topped the chart of most wickets for India in ??the WTC 2021-23 cycle with 61 wi?ckets from 13 matches.

Following the loss, the Tamil Nadu cricketer sh?ared his first reaction as well. Ashwin congratulated Australia and acknowledged his teammates, coaching and support staff for their efforts and support.

“Congratulations Australia on winning this #WTCFinal and closing out this cycle of test cricket. It is disappointing to end up on the wrong side of things, nevertheless it was a great effort over the last 2 years or so to get here in the first place. Amidst all the chaos and scathing assessments, i feel it’s very important to acknowledge all my team mates who played in this cycle and most importantly the coaching and support staffs who have held on like a rock of support,” said Ashwin in his Tweet.
