India’s legend Sachin Tendulkar has finally reacted to the much-discussed Under-19 World Cup final controversy. After the completion of the game, the players of both the teams got engaged in verbal abuse, and some even indulged in pushing on the field.
Tendulkar said that being vocal and saying foul things is not aggression, and one should be able to control emo??tions as the whole world looks up to players in these big competitions.
“One can only make an effort to teach individuals, but then a lot depends on the character of an individual. In a crunch moment, one should be able to control certain things and not forget that the whole world is looking up to you. They are following certain things. So, I think those are the moments where controlled aggression helps. One needs to be aggressive, but being vocal and saying foul things doesn’t mean that you are aggressive,” Tendulkar said in an interview as quoted by Hindustan Times.
The highest run-scorer in internation??al cricket said?? one should show aggression with the performance, which eventually helps the team.
“Aggression should be in your game, the way you bat or bowl鈥攖hat aggression which helps the team and not goes against it,” the 46-year-old added.
Following the incident, five players鈥擜kash Singh and Ravi Bishnoi (from India) and Md Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Raki??bul Hasan (from ?Bangladesh)鈥?were sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The batting phenom expressed that players should not cross the line in the attempt to win the contest. Tendulkar gave an example of Tennis legend Roger Federer and said the latter is also aggressive but doesn’t lose the spirit of the game in order to win any match.
“Everyone is aggressive. If somebody doesn’t say anything or if somebody doesn’t do anything, it doesn’t mean that he is not aggressive. We all want to go out and win. There is a method to do that. You can’t cross the line. Like me, the rest of the guys also want to win, and those are the things one should keep in mind. Are you trying to be tell me that Roger Federer is not aggressive? That he doesn’t want to win? He wants to win every point, but the body language, what he says, and the mannerism really matters. That is really setting the example,” Tendulkar added further.

]]>India U19 star Yashasvi Jaiswal maybe just 18 years old, but his maturity goes beyond years. After ??the conclusion of the U19 World Cup, tougher days await? Jaiswal as he now has to bridge the gap between junior and senior-level of cricket.
Yashasvi had a fantastic Vijay Hazare Trophy before traveling to South Africa for the World Cup. Still, it would be life’s travesty if he fails to become a prolific run-getter in the Ranji Trophy despite having such a solid batting technique.
“I know about myself,” Jaiswal told Indian Express. “I don’t have anything to do with the world. I have kept my life simple. Clear. I wake up around 5 am. Sir told me to use the time to talk to myself, understand myself, motivate myself. That’s what I do.”
“It’s important that in these times, you spend time on yourself. I don’t waste time thinking about how others should understand me; I have understood myself, that’s more important.”
“My fight isn’t with the world. It’s with me. My only bad habit is cold drinks. I plan to leave it now – too much sugar. I have to get fitter. I do meditation, I have started to give more attention to fitness as its key to succeed,” he added.
Jaiswal bagged the ‘Player of the Tournament’ trophy after India’s World Cup final loss to Bangladesh in Potchefstroom last week. He scored 400 runs in six innings, including four half-centuries and a hundred.
However, the trophy broke down into two pieces when he came back from South Africa. Jaiswal, meanwhile, is not upset with hi?s coveted honour being damaged.
The teenager even failed to recollect how the trophy got damaged. Even his coach Jwala Singh revealed that Yashasvi doesn’t care about awards, and the latter’s main objective is just to score runs.
“This isn’t the first time! He cares more about runs, doesn’t fuss too much about trophies,” said Jwala as quoted by The Indian Express.

]]>The young Indian colts did not harm their reputation of dominating world cricket at the Under 19 level, in the r?ecently concluded ICC U19 World Cup in South Africa.
Defending champions, India, remained unbeaten until the finals of the multilateral tourn??ament before they lost to Bangladesh ?in the heated contest.
With Ranji Trophy at its final round, there’s not much to look forward to in the season for the majority of the Indian squad which participated in the U19 World Cup, barring the ones featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Here’s a list of Indian U19 players who will participate in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league:
Yashasvi Jaiswal
Man of the series, with 400 runs scored in the U19 tournament, Yashasvi? Jaiswal has been earmarked to be the next big thing in Indian cricket.

Sunris??ers Hyderabad offered an amount of 1.9 crores for the services of Priyam ??Garg. Albeit, his chances to feature in the XI regularly look far-fetched in the star-studded lineup.

]]>Former India captains, Kapil Dev and Mohammad Azharuddin, have propounded the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to take austere action against Indian players who couldn’t control their emotions in the U19 World Cup (WC) final and got involved in an ugly? spat with Bangladesh cricket??ers.
After Bangladesh won the final by three wickets (via DLS) at the Senwes Park on Sunday, the players of both the teams were seen engaging in an exchange of words, and s??ome even indulged in pushing on the field.
Now the former two greats of Indian cricket have demanded stri?ct action against those players.
“I would take action against the errant Under 19 players, but I also want to know what role has the support staff played in educating these youngsters. Act now before it is too late. The players have to be disciplined,” Mohammad Azharuddin was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
“How can you do this? You just keep abusing the opponent right through the game in the name of playing hard. Australians played hard always but without getting personal. We had fast bowlers who did not believe in using cuss words to pump themselves up or upset the batsmen,” added Azhar.
Former all-rounder Kapil Dev supported Azhar and said the B??CCI should set an example by punishing the pla??yers.
“I would like to see the Board take some strict action against the players to set an example. Cricket is not about abusing the opponent. I am sure there is enough reason for these youngsters to be dealt with firmly by BCCI,” said Kapil.
“I welcome aggression. Nothing wrong in it. But it has to be controlled aggression. You can’t cross the line of decency in the name of being competitive. I would say it was unacceptable that youngsters put up such an obnoxious display on the cricket field,” added the WC winning skipper.

]]>The International Cricket Council (ICC) has sanctioned five players for their delinquency during the final of the 2020 U19 World Cup played between India and Bangladesh at Potchefstroom in Sou??th Africa, where the latter emerged as victorious.
After the conclusion of the game, Bangladeshi players stormed onto the field to celebrate their outstanding win; however, members ??from both the teams got ind?ulged in an ugly altercation.
ICC charged five players from the two teams as they have been found guilty of a Level? 3 breach ??of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Support Personnel.
Three Bangladeshi players; Md Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, and Rakibul Hasan and two Indian players; Akash Singh and Ravi Bishnoi were charged with? violating Article 2.21 of th?e code, while Bishnoi received a further charge of breaching Article 2.5.
All fi??ve players have accepted the s??anctions proposed by ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Match Referee Graeme Labrooy.
“The match was hard fought, as you would expect in an ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Final, but the elation and disappointment experienced by some players after the game spilled over into unedifying scenes that have no place in our sport. Respect is at the very heart of the spirit of cricket, and players are expected to show self-discipline, congratulate the opposition on their successes and enjoy the success of their own team,” said Geoff Allardice, ICC General Manager Cricket in a statement issued by ICC.
“It is disappointing that Code of Conduct charges needed to be laid after such a closely contested match, but it is important to reinforce the standard of behavior that will be expected of these young players should they transition to senior international cricket,” Allardice added.
For Bangladesh, Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain were handed six demerit points, whereas Ra?kib?ul Hasan received five demerit points.
From India, Akash Singh and Ravi Bis??hnoi were slapped with six and five demerit points, respectively. Bishnoi was also handed over tw??o demerit points for violating Article 2.5.
All charges were levelled by on-field umpires Sam Nogajski and Adrian Holdstock, third ump??ire Ravindra Wimalasiri as well as fourth umpire Patrick Bongni Jele.

]]>Bangladesh became the ICC U-19 World Cup champions after they defeated India by three wickets in the finals via the DLS method at Potchefstroom on Sunday. However, after the match, both the teams engaged in an exchange of words and even some pushing.
Indian captain Priyam Garg reacted after the shocking incident and termed the opponent’s reaction as ‘dirty’.
“We were easy. We think its part and parcel of the game – you win some, and you lose some. But their reaction was dirty. I think it shouldn’t have happened. But it’s okay,” said Garg as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
The winning team’s skipper Akbar Ali, on the other hand, apologized for the episode and said that it shouldn’t have happened.
“What happened, it should not [have] happened. I don’t know what exactly happened. I didn’t ask what was going on. But, you know, in the final, emotion can come out, and sometimes the boys were getting pumped, and emotions were coming through,” said Ali.
“As a youngster, it shouldn’t happen. In any position, in any manner, we have to show the respect to the opponent, we should have respect for the game. Cricket is known for being a gentleman’s game. So, I’ll say, I’ll be sorry for my team,” the wicket-keeper added.

]]>The two best teams of U19 World Cup (WC) 2020; India and Bangl??adesh met each other in the much-anticipated final showdown to see who will lift the coveted trophy. The first-timers outran the defending cha??mpions with ease and captured their maiden title in the prestigious ICC event.
The ‘Tigers’ completely outplayed India in the final encounter. After bundling out their neighbors on 177, Bangladesh began to chase the low total. They started pretty well and reached 50 without any loss. It looked like that the ‘Boys in Green’ would quickly get to the set target, but a twist in the story was waiting to greet them.
India’s star spinner Ravi Bishnoi dismantled the top order of Akbar Ali-led side, and from 50-0, they were all of a sudden on 65-4. Just a few runs later, left-arm pacer Sushant Mishra too, joined the party to take a couple, which brought Bangladesh to 102-6.

Opener Parvez Hossain, who got ret??ired-hurt during the innings, came back and held one end firmly to ease off the pressure. Skipper Ali, too, showed maturity and kept on tickling the scoreboard. However, Parvez (47 off 79) did lose his momentum and gave his key wicket to part-timer Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Indian bowle??rs did show fight, bu??t it was just a bivouac which eventually extirpated by Bangladesh as they won the contest and clinched their first-ever U19 WC title.

Earlier, India posted 177 in 47.2 overs. Their batting looked weak and frightened in front of Bangladesh’s bowler as they succumbed against disciplined bowling. Indian batting unit fell like a pack of cards. Their last seven batsmen added only 21 runs. Opener Jaiswal, however, showed his outstanding class and scored the maximum 88 runs for his team.

]]>India and Bangladesh are set to face each other in the U19 World Cup final scheduled to take place on Sunday at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. India, who have won the last edition, will be looking forward to defend their U19 World Cu??p title.
The Priyam Garg-led side came into the final after a stunning 10-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan. Now, the ‘Boys in Blue’ will be hoping to win their record-extending fifth World Cup title. Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be competing in their first-ever final and will be eyeing their maiden title win.
However, as per the weather report of Potchefstroom on Sunday, rain could be a villain. As per Accuweather, the showers ??are predicted in the area during the morning, while strong thunderstorms are forecasted in the evening.
So, now the question arises as what’s gonna happen if the final between India and Bangladesh gets washed out? Well, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has the answer.
According to ICC, “The hours of play on the Reserve Day shall be the same as on the scheduled day for the match (including the extra time provision). If play is interrupted on the scheduled day, the umpires shall use the available extra time and, if necessary, reduce the number of overs to try to achieve a result on that day.”
“Each team must have had the opportunity to bat for a minimum of 20 overs for a result to be achieved. If play has not resumed by the cut-off time required to allow the minimum number of overs to be bowled to achieve a result on the scheduled day, play shall be abandoned for the day and the Reserve Day shall be used to complete the match. On the Reserve Day, play shall recommence under the same assumption that the last ball was bowled on the scheduled day.”
“The match starts when the coin toss takes place, and teams are exchanged. If the toss occurs on the scheduled day and there is no play thereafter, the result of the toss and the named teams shall be carried through to the Reserve Day. In making their decisions in relation to the ground, weather, and light, the umpires shall aim to maximize play on the scheduled day of the match in order to achieve a result on that day, as if there was no Reserve Day available.”
“If following a tie, weather conditions prevent the Super Over from being completed, or if the match is abandoned or a no result, the teams shall be declared joint winners,” ICC added.
Both the nat??ions had faced each other back in 2018 when India defeated Bangladesh by 5 runs in the match.
