Amid coronavirus pandemic followed? by worldwide lockdown, cricketing boards are exploring all options to organise cricket tournaments or bilateral series. Recently, the West Indies team landed in England to prepare for the Test series which is scheduled to begin?? from July 9.

However, fans are eyeing on the 2020 biggest competition; the T20 World Cup, which is supposed to take place in Australia later this year. But Earl Eddings, the Cricket Australia (CA) chairman on? Tuesday gave hints that the global showpiece event may face hurdles.

Eddings spoke to local media and said that it would be ‘unrealistic’ to hold the T20I World Cup this year due to the ongoing global pandemic. He stated that because of the travel restrictions, the happening of the global tournament would be difficult.

“While it hasn’t been formally called off this year, or postponed, trying to get 16 countries into Australia in the current world, where most countries are still going through COVID spiking, I think it’s unrealistic, or it’s going to be very, very difficult,” said Eddings as quoted by HT.

“The ICC are having meetings as we speak, it’s a bit of a movable feast at the moment,” he added.

Although, the new interim chief of CA Nick Hockley, dropped the ball in ICC’s court saying that the international apex body will take a final call.

“We’ve got a fantastic local organising committee who are busy preparing for every eventuality and the decision that will come,” said Hockley.

Earlier, CA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kevin Roberts’ official resigned, after his decisions during the pandemic which included 20 per cent pay cuts and 80 per cent staff being laid off, created a lot of stir in Australian cricket.

At present, Hockley is the Chief Executive of the ICC T20 World Cup and also supervised the Women’s T20 World Cup tournament earlier this year.

“It’s been a privilege to lead and serve the sport I love as CEO of Cricket Australia. Our team of staff and players are outstanding people who contribute so much to the game, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together,” said Roberts as quoted by Cricbuzz.

“I’d like to thank the army of volunteers in communities across the country who are the lifeblood of our sport, enabling kids to experience the game and to dream about emulating their heroes in our national teams. As a lifelong and passionate member of the cricket community, I look forward to seeing the game thrive into the future,” he added.

Roberts came as a replacement of long-standing CEO James Sutherland who had to resign after 17 years of service due to the infamous ball-tampering scandal. Since then under Robert’s tenure, the Aussie cricket team bounced back from the horrendous blemish. Under Robert’s time, Australian side even retained the Ashes in England last year before ruling home summer across formats.

betvisa888 liveICC T20 World Cup 2020 – Cricket Times - betvisa casino //betvisa68.com/2020/06/probability-of-t20-world-cup-this-year-increases-as-australia-open-doors-for-limited-crowd-in-stadiums/ Sat, 13 Jun 2020 10:30:03 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=42947

The International Cricket Council (ICC) in a recent vide??o conference with members of the respective boards deferred the decision on the conduct of the 2020? T20 World Cup in Australia, scheduled later this year.

The apex cricketing body revealed about closely monitoring the ‘dynamic’ situation amid COVID-19 pandemic situation, with government and health officials, while prioritizing the safety of players. Therefore, ICC postponed an affirmative call on the upcoming multilateral event until next month.

?In recent developments, Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, gave a significant boost to morale, hinting about opening doors to as many as 10,000 spectators at sporting venues in July, in their bid to organize the T20 showpiece event later this year.

Morrison gave a green signal to stadiums with a capacity less than 40,000, the permission to host up to 10,000 spectators. It, however, leaves out quintessential Australian stands such as the SCG, MCG? and Adelaide Oval.

“This is going to be looked at over the next few weeks. For the larger ones (venues) I would venture that it would be the subject of a discrete approval for each venue that would be worked out with the Chief Health Officer in each state or territory,” Morrison was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“So by the time you get into July, there may be that type of opportunity for the rules that apply to those under 40,000 carry over to those above 40,000. These will be practical, common sense issues, worked through by the medical expert panel over the next few weeks and I think they will give great instruction,” added the Australian Prime Minister.

“When you’re up above 40,000, you’ve got more than 10,000 people going to a gathering, that has implications for the egress and access of and to those premises, public transport crushes, all those sorts of things. That will require much more significant work,” concluded Morrison.

The onset of COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the cricketing calendar of?? 2020, which involved marquee T20 events such as the Indian Premier League (I??PL) and the T20 World Cup.

India is set to tour Australia in December this year to retain the Border-Ga?vaskar Trophy. Meanwhile, England will host the West Indies in July, and Pakistan in August to resume the English sum?mer.

The decision on the?? upcoming 2020 ICC T20 World Cup in Australia remained defer??red after meeting on Wednesday.

The high-octane multilateral tournament was scheduled to take place between October?? and Novem??ber, later this year.

The members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) met via video conference and looked at various permutations and combinations regarding t??he conduct of the T20 showpiece ??event.

However, the priority for the apex council m?embers remains with the safety of the players amidst a dynamic pandemic situation.

A call is now expected to be made next month for the T20 World Cup in Australia and the Women’s World Cup sched?uled next year.

There is a high probability of the coveted eve??nt being cancelled, looki??ng at the major upcoming events in 2021.

The latest release of ICC infers about the cricketing body is closely moni?toring the ever-changing situation in tandem with governments and health officials to work out a?? decision.

“This contingency ??planning ??process will evaluate health and safety, cricket, partner and host considerations ensuring any decision taken is in the best interests of the sport, its members and fans,ICC’s statement read.

“The situation surrounding the global pandemic is evolving rapidly and we want to give oursel??ves the best possible opportunity to make the right decision for the whole sport. The health and well-being of everyone involved is our priority and other considerations fall out from that,ICC’s Chief Executive, Manu Sawhney stated.

“We will only get one chance to make this decision and it needs to be the right one and as such we will continue to consult with our members, broadcasters, p??artners, governments and players and to ensure that we make a well-informed decision, added the administrator.

The governing body also looked at the long-standing tax exemption issue impending with BCCI. ICC agreed to extend ?the deadline on the decision until De??cember 2020.

The world, as we know of, has turned on its head due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus has disrupted sc?heduling of the sporting world and the ripples of which is going to affect the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia.

Many veterans?? of the game were slated to feature ??in what possibly would be their last world cup in their glittering careers, namely, AB de Villiers and MS Dhoni.

However, De Villiers doesn’t want to create any false hopes regarding his possible participation in the tournament.

“I can’t see six months into the future. If the tournament is postponed to next year, a whole lot of things will change. At the moment I feel available, but at the same time I don’t know how my body will see it and if I will be healthy at that time,” AB was quoted as saying in Afrikaans daily, ‘Rapport’.

Earlier, De Villiers and head coach Mark Boucher were on the same page for the possibility of the former’s return in the multilateral tournament.

“I might get to a point where I have to tell ‘Bouch’ (coach Mark Boucher) I was interested, I would like to play a role, but I’m not going to be able to play myself. I’m afraid of such a commitment and creating false hope,” added the Protean.

Also, during last year’s ODI World Cup, claims had been made that De Villiers offered his availability in the 11th hour of the tournament.

Moreover, after the conclusion of the tournament where South Africa were the first major team to be knocked out, De Villiers refute?d ?the claims through a scathing post on social media.

“They should choose me because I’m really better than the guy next to me. I’ve never been the type of person who felt I should get just what I wanted,” concluded AB de Villiers.

After IPL 2018, the Protean call it quits from international crick??et citing?? fatigue and workload issues.

betvisa loginICC T20 World Cup 2020 – Cricket Times - betvisa login //betvisa68.com/2020/03/coronavirus-vs-ms-dhoni-a-race-to-t20-world-cup-2020/ Wed, 25 Mar 2020 16:03:38 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=39347

The deadly Coronavirus has brought the entire world to its knees. Italy and China are the most suffering nations, and the WHO has declared Covid 19 as pandemic. Due to the massive outbreak, many sports events have been cancelled, and quite a few may get affected further if the situation doesn’t change.

In October later this year, Australia is supposed to host the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Assuming if everything goes right and the mega event takes place, then Indian fans would want to see their favourite MS Dhoni in the team.

But the big question is that on what grounds MSD will be picked? The reason behind this question is that Dhoni last featured for India during a semi-final clash with New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup. In November same year, the former Indian skipper gave hints about his comeback when he said, “January tak mat poocho (don’t ask me till January).”

India haven’t won an ICC tournament since 2013 Champions Trophy; therefore, it is necessary to have Dhoni’s presence in the team. In December last year, India’s head coach Ravi Shastri indicated Dhoni’s return but on the basis of his performance in the 2020 IPL.

“It all depends on when he starts playing and how he is playing during the IPL. What are the other people doing with the wicket-keeping gloves, or what is the form of those players as opposed to Dhoni’s form. The IPL becomes a massive tournament because that could be the last tournament after which more or less your 15 is decided,” Shastri told IANS.

At the start of the current month, Dhoni joined Chennai Super Kings (CSK) camp to brace up for the 13th edition of the lucrative league. However, the hopes of fans to see the ex-captain’s return to cricket came to an abrupt halt when the tournament was postponed till April 15 with no apparent signs yet on whether it will eventually be held or not.

On Tuesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation, to declare that the entire country?? will be under lockdown for ??the upcoming 21 days. Therefore, it is becoming ever more doubtful for the BCCI to hold the IPL from mid-April.

Basically, as far as the upcoming T20 World Cup is concerned, the fight is now directly between Coronavirus and MS Dhoni himself. While the deadly virus won’t affect Dhoni personally, but for now, the pandemic has already started impacting Dhoni’s career indirectly.

Now, If the IPL postponement converts into a cancellation, then India would be forced to continue with the young wicketkeepers duo of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Also, if IPL doesn’t take place, then Dhoni doesn’t stand a chance of being selected. Just maybe he could’ve played some domestic games; then the situation would’ve been entirely different. But sadly, that didn’t happen.

Fans, however, would still be hopeful to see things getting back to normal, and a short IPL may take place around July. Just to make sure that Dhoni gets a fair chance to prove whether he’s going to make a comeback in the national side or not.

Amid Covid-19 outbreak, major sporting events have been affected, whi?ch includes the biggest cricketing tournament, the Indian Pr?emier League (IPL). The 13th edition of the lucrative league was suspended by BCCI till April 15.

Many fans were hoping that the upcoming IPL would be a perfect stage for MS Dhoni’s comeback, but now the waiting period is extended to April 15.Last time fans saw the former Indian skipper on a cricket field was in England when India played a semi-final game of 2019 World Cup against New Zealand.

The biggest reason that fans want to see Dhoni getting back into the touch is the T20 World Cup scheduled to be played in Australia later this year as they feel that a good run in IPL wo?uld surely give MSD a place in the squad for the showpiece event.

However, former India opener Aakash Chopra believes that Dhoni does not need the IPL to make his international comebac?k as he knows?? what he is doing.

“For a player like Dhoni, IPL was never going to be a yardstick. If he had scored runs in the IPL, experts would have been like ‘select Dhoni,’ ‘do this and do that.’ MS Dhoni knows what he is doing, whether he wants to come back or not,” Chopra said in a YouTube video as quoted by HT.

Chopra said that the cash-rich league isn’t a crucial factor to decide whether Dhoni should be picked or not, it’s up to him and the selectors.

“IPL, I don’t think it was a critical factor. If he wants to come back, he will make himself available; if the selectors decide to pick him, he will be selected automatically because you won’t get experience in supermarkets,” added Chopra.

The former Delhi player also expressed that a player like Dhoni won’t be picked on the grounds of his IPL performance. If the Indian team needs him, then IPL wouldn’t matter at all.

“Dhoni is a hugely experienced player. If India needs MS Dhoni, then with or without IPL, he will come back.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to organize the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. Fans are excited and hopeful to witness the best players ??exhibiting top-level performances.

But who would be a strong candidate to lift this year’s T20 trophy? This may be tricky to answer for many; however, former West Indies skipper Brian Lara came out for the rescue and surfaced his o?pinion.

The 50-year-old had a chat with ESPNCricinfo, where he spoke on various issues relating to the game, including his favorites for this year’s T20 World Cup. The left-handed batting genius picked three teams as the strong contenders.

Lara named India, Australia, and two-time champions West Indies. T??he former Trinidadian cricketer picked Virat Kohli-led side as a pretty professional and dexterous team. He said Australia being at home conditions would be a tough side to deal with.? Lara also chose West Indies as a strong contender but said the inconsistency of the Caribbean side would be a worry for Windies.

“In terms of a team, obviously, I want to see the West Indies go all the way and win. India, with the fact that they produce so much international cricketers through their league, has enhanced every single player who plays for India. I mean, KL Rahul is my favorite player in the world, I love watching him, and I think India is going to be a force to reckon with,” said Lara.

“Australia at homeâ€?it’s not going to be an easy World Cup for anyone. Australia is going to be worried about India and the West Indies; West Indies are going to be worried about everybody because of their inconsistency sometimes. So it’s going to be a great World Cup to look at,” the southpaw added.

The ace West Indies player also heaped praises at KL Rahul and regarded him as his fa??vorite player. Lara went on to add that Rahul has a technique that he wishes he had during his playing days.

“His technique and grace is just unbelievable. Of course, up there in the top three you’ve got Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma but every time I see him (Rahul) facing a delivery, I just love it; his head is over the ball all the time, he has a technique that I wish I had,” Lara added further.

Widely acknowledged as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Brian Lara has reacted on Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo’s presence in the West Indies team for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in Australia later this year.

Former West Indies captain Lara is currently in India for the Road Safety World Series. In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, the left-hand genius revealed that the upcoming edi?tion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 would play a massive role in deciding the future of both Gayle and Bravo in West Indies cricket.

“I think the IPL is going to be a huge point or signal for who is actually who’s going to carry on. It’s still going to be five months after the IPL for the World Cup,” said Lara.

“Fitness levels are very important, but a gruesome tournament like the IPL is going to tell the West Indies selectors who are the players that they really need going into the last four months of preparation for the World Cup,” the Trinidadian cricketer added.

Lara was also asked about the youngsters in the current Caribbean side that he looks forward to see in the?? upcoming mega event in Australia, to which he took names of Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Shai Hope and Alzarri Joseph.

“You called one name, Hetmyer, and I like Pooran as well. Shai Hope has done very well and I think he could play a part in the T20 World Cup, being that solid guy with a great technique that can hold the innings together. Those are the three players I’m really looking forward to seeing,” the 50-year-old added further.

“Alzarri Joseph is someone who I look at and say ‘this guy has got potential, he’s a wicket-taker.’ He is someone who I’d like to see do well,” Lara concluded.

India’s talismanic wicketkeeper-batsman, MS Dhoni’s retirement, has turned out to be quite an enigma, much like his persona. During the Test series in Australia back in 2014, Dhoni called it quits from the longest format of the game, abruptly.

Since the heartbreaking loss at the semi-finals of the World Cup in England last year, MSD has not f??eatured in any prominent cricketing action.

With the T20 World Cup at stake, questions loom on Dhoni’s availability and chances of selection for the multilateral series scheduled in Australia later this year.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), now headed by former cricketer Madan Lal, asked the potential selectors about MSD’s future plans for India, on Monday.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, Venkatesh Prasad, Sunil Joshi, Rajesh Singh, and Harvinder Singh were shortlisted as candidates for the post of the selector. All were asked the same pertinent question about Dhoni’s future for the Indian team.

“Yes, the CAC had one common question, and that was about their call with regards to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and whether they will select him for the T20 World Cup,” a BCCI official confirmed, according to PTI.

“Dhoni is both a sensitive and tricky issue and that’s why the question needed to be asked,” added the source. In the end, Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh were added to the five-member selection panel.

“We liked his straightforward attitude,” Madan Lal commented after the meeting was adjourned. Dhoni resumed his training at Chepauk Stadium, for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). He will captain the Chennai Super Kings ??for the 11th time in the history of the competition.
