Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer鈥檚 humorous side was again on display when he pulled his England counterpart Kevin Pietersen鈥檚 leg over a tweet earlier this week.
Back on November 2, Pietersen had tweeted that only Afghanistan and Pakistan have the potential to beat England, but only if the game is played in Sharjah. He labelled England as favourites to win the marquee tournament. However, that prediction turned false when New Zealand kn?ocked out England in the fir??st semi-final of the T20 World Cup on Wednesday.
鈥淥nly Pakistan or Afghanistan can beat England in this T20 World Cup. BUT and it鈥檚 a BIG BUT, the game would have to be played on a used wicket in? Sharjah. Anywhere els??e, just hand England the trophy like Chelsea should be handed the EPL trophy RIGHT NOW!鈥?/em> Pietersen had tweeted.

After England鈥檚 campaign was done and dusted from the multi-team tournament, Jaffer hilariously trolled Pietersen for his tweet. He tweeted a picture of Kane Williamson with a caption, 鈥淗aa, hum to yaha bass Burj Khalifa dekhne aaye hai.鈥?(Yeah, we have just come to see the Burj Khalifa)

The former World Cup winner England was looking forward to sealing the tournament under Eoin Morgan’s captaincy. But England suffered a 5-wicket defeat against New Zealand in first semi-final.
Chasing 167, the Black Caps lost two big wickets of Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson early. To a large extent, England bowlers dominated the game, but it was Daryl Mitchell ( 72 off 42) and James Neesham (27 off 11) who the tide ??in New Zealand鈥檚 favour.
鈥淒efinitely some?thing that stood out today. Has batted beautifully in a high-pressure situation. T20 cricket 鈥?it鈥檚 a game of small margins. Depending on the surface, the short side 鈥?these things can be match-defining. He came out and hit the ball hard, that鈥檚 what he does (Neesham). Changed the momentum really,鈥?/em> said Williamson in the post-match presentation ceremony.
鈥淔antastic k?nock from Daryll, hit the big shots when it counted. We鈥檒l be following that match 鈥?going to be fantastic. We know we have another challenge coming up and we鈥檒l change our focus after tonight,鈥?/em> he added.
After Pakistan鈥檚 defeat in the second semi-final, New Zealand are set to play Australia in the summit clash聽on Sunday, November 14.

]]>Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has backed pacer Hasan Ali after his poor outing against Australia in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2021. Ali went wicketless and gave 44 runs in the four overs with an econom??y rate of 11. In the 18th over, he conceded 15 runs, including a four and a six, which helped the Aussies to get close to the target.
Pakistan fans were left shell-shocked when Ali missed the important catch of Matthew Wade in the 19th over bowled by Shaheen Afridi. The dropped catch had cost Pakistan big t??ime as Wade went for three sixes in a row, sealing the game for the Aussies.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 feel like that. He is our main bowler and has won many matches for Pakistan. Players do drop catches sometimes. He is fighting it out and I will keep backing him. Every player cannot perform in every game. Some individuals who are having a good day try to make the most of it and come up with good performances,鈥?Babar said in the post-match presentation.
鈥淵es, he is a bit down. We will k?eep backing him and giving him confidence. People?? will say a lot of things, but we are behind him,鈥?/em> he added.
Babar also said that they s??cored as many runs as they had planned and felt ??his side also bowled well in the first half but the chances they gave the opposition for a comeback cost them the match.
He further mentioned that the dropped catch of Wade was the ‘turning point of the game’ and had it been taken, the result could have been different.
For Hasan, the 2021 T20 World Cup did not end on the right note. In six games, he picked only five wickets at an economy rate of nine – the worst among all the Pakistani bowlers.

In the post-match presentation, Bravo said: “I will continue playing franchise cricket for a few more years as long as my body will allow me to.
“My aim was to retire a few years ago, but with a change of presidency (at CWI) and change of leadership comes a change of heart, and I wanted to give back to West Indies because I was still in a good place physically and enjoy my cricket.
Bravo also t?hanked Pollard for bringing him back into the squad ahead of the 2021 T20 World Cup.
“I had a brief chat with Pollard and said I would like to come back and play in the shortest format, which is my specialty,”
“And they allowed me to play again, and I’m very grateful for that,” he added.
“I’m very happy to have someone like that that I can call as a friend, not just a teammate, but a friend,” Bravo said of Pollard. “He’s one of the main reasons why I also came out every time to give my best chance to see if we could push for another World Cup title, but it wasn’t to be. But I’m still very happy with the way how he led West Indies cricket in the last two years. West Indies needed strong leadership, and he’s a strong leader. We know this [World Cup] wasn’t meant to be, but I know as an individual, he will bounce back strong with his character, and I’m very happy that I was able to be a part of this journey with him.”
Bravo made his international debut in 2004 against England. He played 91 T20Is, 164 ODI?s and 40 Test matches for his national side.聽 The all-rounder has the longest T20 career o??f 15 years. His contribution to West Indies Cricket will inspire generations.
