Rohit Sharma smashed 140 off 113 balls to lead India to 336 for five after being put into bat in the rain-affected World C??up 2019 clash against Pakistan in Manchester on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma continued with his fine track record of captaincy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 by sealing the title for the fourth time as MUmbai Indians (MI) skipper. Maintaining his odd-year sequence in clinching the trophy, the 32-year-old led MI to a narrow one-run victory over MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Hyderabad on May 12.

Rohit, who has been named as Virat Kohli’s deputy for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, recently took some time off from the game to spend with his family and friends.

Mystery behind his nickname ‘Hitman’

After the conclusion of IPL 2019 final, Rohit was asked why he is called the ‘Hitman’? To which, he responded that it could be since his name includes the word ‘hit’ and it is followed by the suffix ‘man’ since he is a guy.

Rohit also added that in 2013, one member of the production house of Star Sports called Peedi had told him during an interview: “You are the hitman of this Indian cricket team” after the stylish batsman had scored his first double hundred. “After that, it was picked up by a few commentators and it was spoken on air,” he said.

Rohit too faced the question about his favourite food. The Mumbaikar said he is always after home-cooked food since that is something he always miss while touring abroad. “When at home, I genuinely like to eat just home-cooked food. If I am travelling, I like Japanese,” he said.

When asked to name his favourite foo??tball pla??yer, Rohit said it is Zinedine Zidane, the World Cup-winning footballer from France.

Whether he speaks Telugu? To this, Rohit said he understands it a little bit, not so much. “I can understand and can speak a little bit as well.”

The Indian opener played it safe when asked to name his best friend. He said: “I have a lot of friends and would like not to mention one name as that could upset others”.

India opener Rohit Sharma added a fresh feather into his already illustrious cap as he set a new milestone in International cricket during the Men In Blue’s first T20 match of the series against Australia in Ranchi on Saturday.

Rohit batted just seven balls before getting out in the first T20I but still managed to set a rare record. The ?30-year-old hit his 30th six in International cricket in 2017 out of which 29 are in ODIs.

With 30 sixes this year, Rohit has become the first player to hit 30 and more sixes in five consecutive calendar years in International cricket. The Mumbai lad hit 36 sixes across all formats in 2013 and 30 in 2014 despite missing out quite a few games due to injury. In 2015, the ri?ght-handed batsman hit? 38 and better it in 2016 striking 46 maximums over the boundary ropes.

With the six off Nathan Coulter-Nile at Ranchi, Rohit became the first player to hit 30+ sixes in five consecutive years. Thus, he broke the previous record of four consecutive years jointly held by Brendon McCullum and Shane Watson.

Chris Gayle, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh are the other batsmen to hit 30+ si??xes in three consecutive years.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who is know for rattling the top?? class batsmen with his plethora of variations himself got stumped on Thur??sday when a wheel of his trolley bag got dislocated while he was travelling.

The World No.1 Test all-rounder got trolled by his teammate Rohit Sharma shortly after Ashwin posted a tweet.

“OUT!,” tweeted Ashwin with an image of his broken luggage.

Rohit, who is re??covering from an injury was quick to reply,
