In a thrilling display of power hitting during the SA20 2025 match on Tuesday (January 14), Heinrich Klaasen of the Durban Super Giants (DSG) sent shockwaves through Kings??mead, D??urban, with a colossal six that landed onto the street outside the stadium.

Klaasen’s explosive shot came in 10th over of the DSG innings as Klaasen was building momentum in the match against Joburg Super Kings (JSK). Swivelling on his back foot off Tabraiz Shamsi’s delivery, Klaasen executed a perfectly timed pull shot that soared over the square leg boundary, reaching an impressive distance of 87 meters. The ball’s trajectory was so powerful that it cleared the stadium and landed on a nearby street, leaving spectators in awe.

As the ball rolled to a stop, a quick-thinking fan dashed to grab it, running away with what could be considered a prized possession for any cricket enthusiast. Videos of the incident quickly circulated on social media, capturing both Klaasen’s remarkable hit and the fan’s triumphant escape.

betvisa888 cricket betHeinrich Klaasen – Cricket Times - betvisa live //betvisa68.com/2025/01/south-africas-15-member-squad-for-the-icc-champions-trophy-2025-predicted/ Fri, 10 Jan 2025 13:30:42 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=171779

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will take place from February 19 to March 9, this will be the ninth edition of the prestigious tournament, marking its return after an eight-year hiatus. The hybrid model will see Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) hosting the competition, ??with the reigning champi?ons Pakistan aiming to defend their title.

Tournament format and schedule

The eight participating teams – India, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh, Australia, England, New Zealand and Afghanistan – have been divided into two groups of four. The event will kick off on February 19, with hosts Pakistan facing New Zealand at the National Stadium, Karachi. India’s highly anticipated group-stage match against New Zealand will take place on March 2 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, while the final will be held on March 9.

The Champions Trophy has always been a fiercely competitive tournament, with its compact format allowing little room for error. As teams finalize their squads ahead of the ??ICC’s January 12 deadline, discussions about team compositions and strategies are heating up.

South Africa’s chances in the tournament

South Africa will enter the Champions Trophy 2025 as one of the potential contenders. Known for their consistent performances in ICC tournaments, the Proteas are aiming to end a long title drought in this event. They last tasted glory in the inaugural edition of the tournament, then known as the ICC Knockout Trophy, in 1998 in Bangladesh. However, since then, South Africa has struggled in the Champions Trophy, failing to reach another f?inal and crashing out in the group stage in 2017.

Temba Bavuma’s side has shown promise in recent years, reaching the semifinals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and the final of the 2024 T2??0 World Cup. Despite suffering a 0-3 home series defeat against Pakistan recently, South Africa remains a strong contender. Their preparations include a tri-series in Multan involving Pakistan and New Zealand, giving them a chance to regain momentum ahead of the tournament.

Key challenges and opportunities

The Champions Trophy 2025 presents unique challenges, especially with matches spread across two distinct venues – Pakistan’s spin-friendly tracks and the UAE’s flat, batting-friendly pitches. For teams like South Africa, adapting quickly to varying conditions will be crucial. As the January 12 deadline for squad submissions looms, selectors are working to finalize their rosters. South Africa, in particular, will need to strike a balance between experienced campaigners and promising newcomers. With Bavuma leading the side, the Proteas will hope to rely on their in-form players to navigate the tournament’s high-pressure environment.

Cricket is a gentleman’s game, but having a brawl with rivals is a part and parcel of the sport. Players do it all the time to each other either to let their frustration out or get inside a rival’s head and force a mistake from their end. Something of a similar sort happened as star South African Heinrich Klassen got involved in a tussle with some of the Pakistani players that didnt en?d well for him.

ICC fined Heinrich Klassen for kicking the stumps

It started during the 26th over of the South African innings as they were chasing down a total of 329 runs from Pakistan. Haris Rauf bowled the final ball of the over after which he said something to Klassen which ignited the South African wicket-keeper who retaliated with some words of his own. Pakistani skipper Mohammed Rizwan got involved in the scene to defend his  bowler and there was some finger-pointing between him and Klassen. The mood on the pitch returned back to some normalcy as umpires and some senior Pakistani players like Babar Azam me?diated but it seemed that the flashpoint ha??d got into Klassen’s head ever since.

The South African chase came to an end as Klassen was the last man dismissed by Naseem Shah. Klassen made a valiant effort to save the match for his team and keep the Proteas’ hope alive in the series, but he didn’t get any support from other South African batters. Furious with the loss, Klassen hit the stumps to let his frustration out. Later on, ICC announced that Klassen has been found guilty of breaching the ICC code of conduct and levied 15 percent of his match fee for the same.

The offence of Klaasen

ICC further explained that Klassen breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match.?/em> Additionally, one demerit point has also been added to Klassen’s disciplinary record since it was his first offence in a 24-??month period.

Klassen has reportedly accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson. On-field umpires Alex Wharf and Lubabalo Gcuma, third umpire Nitin Menon, and fourth umpire Allahuddien Palekar ??levelled the charg?es against him for the offence.

South Africa will play the third and final ODI of the series against Pakistan in the Wanderers stadium. The visiting side has already sec?ured an unbeaten 2-0 lead in the series. However, Proteas will quest to avoid a series white-wash against a Pakistani side who has managed to defeat them convincingly in the first two ODIs.

In an intense moment during the second One Day International (ODI) between South Africa and Pakistan in Cape Town, cricket fans witnessed a rare display of verbal sparring involving Mohammad Rizwan, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. The incident, which unfolded amidst Pakistan’s successful campaign to clinch the series 2-0, quickly became a topic of discussion both on the field and across social media.

Notably, Pakistan, led by Rizwan, posted an imposing total, thanks to significant contributions from the skipper and former leader Babar Azam, scoring 80 and 73 runs respectively. The bowling attack, spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, then dismantled the South African batting lineup, leading to an 81-run victory for Pakistan. However, the match was not just about the cricketing actio??n but also about a heated exchange that caught the attention of spectators?? and viewers alike.

Verbal clash adds drama to the exciting contest

The clash started after the 26th over, bowled by Haris Rauf, when tensions seemed?? to rise over the condition of the ball. Klaasen, visibly upset, engaged in a heated argument with Rauf before Rizwan stepped in. This was quickly followed by Miller joining the fray, escalating the situation.

The argument was intense enough to draw the attention of umpires and teammates, with Babar stepping in to mediate and pacify the situation before it could spiral out of control. The argument seemed to revolve around the condition of the ball and possibly some aggressive bowling or sledging. The exact words exchanged weren’t clear, but the body language and subsequent actions spoke volumes about the intensity of the moment.

Despite the controversy, the match itself was a showcase of cricketing prowess. Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Shaheen’s 4 wickets for 47 runs and Naseem’s 3 for 37, managed to keep South Africa’s chase in check, even with Klaasen’s near-century (97). The innings saw brilliant fielding efforts and strategic bowling variations that ultimately led to Pakistan clinching a decisive 81-run victory, securing the series 2-0. This win was Pakistan’s third consecutive ODI series triumph, highlighting their dominance in the format on foreign soil.

Pakistan kicked off their ODI series against South Africa with a thrilling 3-wicket victory in the opening game at Boland Park in Paarl. The contest we??nt down to the wire where the visitors held their nerve and managed to claim a nail-biting win.

Agha Salman sizzles with the ball

South Africa got off to a steady start as openers Tony de Zorzi and Ryan Rickelton contributed 33 and 36 runs, respectively. However, Pakistan’s bowlers, particularly Agha Salman and Abrar Ahmed, kept the middle order under control. Heinrich Klaasen anchored the innings with a superb 86 off 97 balls, including seven boundaries and two sixes, giving the hosts a fi??ghting total. Ahmed’s tidy spell of 2/32 and Salmans remarkable 4/32 were instrumental in restricting South Africa to 239.

Saim Ayub hits a brilliant ton to take Pakistan over the finish line

In response, Pakistan had a shaky start, losing Abdullah Shafique for a duck in the opening over. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan fell cheaply, leaving Pakistan struggling at 4/3. Saim Ayub steadied the innings with a masterclass 109 off 119 deliveries, striking 10 fours and 3 sixes. His partnership with Salman, who scored a well-craft??ed 82 off 90 balls, proved to be the backbone of the chase.

Despite a late flurry of wickets, Saim’s heroics and Salman’s composed innings ensured Pakistan crossed the line with three balls to spare. Ottniel Baartman and Kagiso Rabada were ?the p?ick of the bowlers for South Africa, claiming two wickets each.

Salman not only impressed with the ball but also delivered a match-defining knock with the bat. His all-round brilliance earned him t??he Player of the Match award, highlighting his critical role in Pakistan’s victory.

Shaheen Afridi produced a moment of brilliance to dismiss Heinrich Klaasen during the first ODI between South Africa and Pakistan at Boland Park, Paarl, on Tuesday (December 17). The sensational delivery, which uprooted the middle stump, left Klaasen stunned and gave Shaheen a moment to cherish. Klaasen? had been batting fluently, scoring a crucial 86 off 97 balls, but even he had no answer to Shaheen’s epic riposte, as the packed crowd watched in awe.

The dismissal of Heinrich Klaasen: Dream delivery by Shaheen Afridi

On the fourth delivery of the 45th over, Shaheen delivered an absolute peach that rattled the stumps and sent Klaasen back to the pavilion. It was a fuller-length delivery, pitched just on the off-stump, but the late inward movement completely deceived Klaasen. Expecting a straighter line, Klaasen played down the wrong line, leaving a massive gap between bat and pad. The ball sneaked through, crashed into the middle stump, and created the iconic sight that fast bowlers dream of. Shaheen’s celebration reflected his delight, knowing he had removed South Africa’s in-form batter at a critical juncture. For Klaasen, who had struck seven fours and two sixes, one of which came just before the dismissal, it was a disappointing yet unplayable delivery that ended his spirited knock.

Here’s the video:

Salman Agha destroys South Africa’s top order

South Africa, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, started their innings positively. Openers Tony de Zorzi and Ryan Rickelton looked fluent, taking full advantage of the initial powerplay. De Zorzi raced to a quick 33 off 25 balls before being trapped LBW by Agha Salman. Rickelton, too, perished shortly after for 36 off 38 balls, as South Africa lost two wickets in quick succession. From there, Pakistan tightened their grip with disciplined bowling, with Agha Salman striking again to dismiss R?assie van der Dusse??n cheaply.

Captain Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen then steadied the innings, stitching a valuable partnership. Markram played a measured innings of 35 runs, providing Klaasen the platform to accelerate. Klaasen capitalized on the opportunity, showing aggression and composure while handling the spinners. However, wickets kept tumbling at the othe??r end as Agha Salman’s golden arm continued to trouble South Africa, eventually finishing with impressive figures of 4/32.

Pakistan’s discipline bowling in Paarl ODI

Klaasen stood tall for South Africa, carrying the responsibility after the top-order collapse. His aggressive stroke play, which included two powerful sixes, ensured South Africa maintained a steady run rate. Klaasen reached his half-c??entury in 68 balls and continued to anchor the innings despite losing partners. However, Shaheen’s stunning delivery in the 45th over turned the tide. The middle-stump uprooting dismissal left South Africa reeling at 218/8, diminishing their chances of posting a competitive total.

With tailenders Ottneil Baartman and Tabraiz Shamsi trying to push the total past 250, Pakistan’s bowlers have maintained a disciplined line and length. The spinners, especially Abrar Ahmed, have been economical, while Shaheen’s wicket brought renewed momentum for the visitors. South Africa eventually managed to post 239/9 in 50 overs, but the targ??et seems below par on a batting-friendly surface.

South Africa have announced a strong 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan, beginning December 17. This series is particularly significant as it will mark the Proteas’ final bilateral 50-over engagement before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The squad selection signals a determined effort to field the strongest possible si??de, showcasing a blend o?f seasoned campaigners and emerging stars.

Return of key players strengthens South Africa

Several experienced players make their comeback to the ODI setup, having missed the Ireland series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada headlines the list, joined by prolific middle-order stalwarts Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller. Spin twins Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi also return, fortifying South Africa’s attack on subcontinental wickets. Their inclusion adds depth and balance to a side gearing up for an intense contest.

This series also will mark Rabada’s first ODI appearance since the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, underscoring the Proteas’ focus on assembling their top-tier talent. The timing of this series allows South Africa to evaluate their strongest combinations in a competitive setting ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Temba Bavuma returns as captain

Skipper Temba Bavuma has recovered from the injury he sustained during the Ireland ODIs and is back to lead the side. Bavuma’s leadership and consistency at the top of the order are pivotal for South Africa’s success. He is expected to open the innings, with Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks in contention for the second opener’s spot. This top-order trio provides the team with options to adapt to various conditions and scenarios.

South Africa’s middle order boasts formidable firepower. Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller form a dynamic lineup capable of adapting to any game situation. Kl?aasen and Miller’s ability to accelerate in the l??atter stages complements the stability provided by van der Dussen and Markram.

Adding youthful exuberance is 18-year-old pace sensation Kwena Maphaka, who has been named in the ODI squad for the first time. Maphaka’s exploits in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, where he claimed 21 wickets at a staggering average of 9.71, earne??d him the Player of the Tournament award. His selection reflects South Africa’s commitment to nurturing young talent while building for the future.

The bowling lineup will be spearheaded by Rabada, who has Marco Jansen, Ottneil Baartman, Andile Phehlukwayo and the uncapped Maphaka for support. Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi add variety with their spin, ??ensuring the Proteas have multiple opt?ions to exploit Pakistan’s batting weaknesses. This balance in the attack enables South Africa to remain competitive across all phases of the game.

Anrich Nortje’s absence a major setback

A notable absentee from the squad is Anrich Nortje, who has been ruled out of both the ongoing T20I series and the ODI series due ??to a fra??ctured toe. Nortje sustained the injury during training ahead of the first T20I against Pakistan. Scans confirmed the extent of the injury, and the speedster is now consulting a specialist.

This marks the second major injury setback for Nortje in the past 15 months. Having missed nine months from September 2023 due to a stress fracture, he returned during IPL 2024 and played a pivotal role in South Africa’s T20 Wo?rld Cup campaign. However, his absence from this series leaves a void in the pace attack.
