Wickets fell and batters crashed like a pack of cards on the 1st day of the final Test match between Pakistan and West Indies at Multan Cricket Stadium. As expected, it was a slow turning track which was visibly dry and a safe haven for spinners to dominate. West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first hoping that they might put some runs on the board before the pitch starts helping Pakistani spinners. Howeve??r, the opposite happ?ened for the visiting side.
The West Indies had a dreadful start to the game after debutant Kashif Ali got rid of the opener Mikyle Louis early. The concerns aggravated after debutant Amir Jangoo too was sent back to the pavilion on a duck by Sajid Khan. The visi??tors had already lost 2 wickets with just 9 runs on the board.
The situation became hopeless for the West Indies as skipper Kraigg Braithwaite was dismissed by ace Pakistani spinner Noman Ali. The spin storm from the 38-year-old continued as he took a sensational hat-trick by dismissing Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach and Kevin Sincla??ir back to the pavilion becoming the first Pakistani spinner to achieve this historic feat.
Tailenders Gudakesh Motie, Kemar Roach, and Jomel Warrican offered a stiff resistance to the spin onslaught from the home side. The thre??e batters stabilized the West Indies innings to some extent which was once de-railed at 54 runs for t?he loss of 8 wickets. While Roach was dismissed on 25 runs facing 45 balls, a 10th wicket partnership of 68 runs between Motie and Warrican helped West Indies reach a total of 163 runs in 41.1 overs. Motie was the final wicket for the West Indies as he was bowled by Ali on 55 runs. Crucially, Ali took both the last remaining Caribbean wickets and completed his 6-wicket haul in the first innings.
Pakistan might have hoped that they are in control of the Test match up until the end of West Indies 1st innings, but the West Indies bowling unit were up for the fight giving a tit for tat trouble to the home team鈥檚 batting line-up. Crucially, while it was largely a one-man show for Pakistani bowlers, West Indies’ combined effort cruised them back into the game as they decimated the seasoned and experienced Pakistani batting line-up.
Apart from Mohammed Rizwan and Saud Shakeel who made 49 and 32 runs for their side respectively, the entire Pakistani batting line-up succumbed to the determined bowling display from the visitor. Pacer Roach started the counter-attack for West Indies getting rid of openers Mohammad Huraira and skipper Shan Masood.
The openers鈥?dismissals opened the floodgates of dismissals for Pakistan as the entire middle-order derailed in front of West Ind??ies bowlers. Warrican was the star of the West Indies bowling unit taking 4 wickets, Motie and Roach too, did not disappoint clinching 3 and 2 wickets respectively. The entire Pakistani batting order was wrapped up on 154 runs in 47 runs. The home side even after their solid bowling display trail behind the visitors by 9 runs at the end of the day鈥檚 play.

]]>The first Test match between Pakistan and West Indies is set to kick off on January 17, 2025, at the Multan Cricket Stadium. This series opener holds particular significance as it marks the West Indies’ return to Pakistan for a Test series after over 18 years. Both teams are eager to improve their standings in the World Test Championship, with Pakistan currently ranked seventh and West Indies ninth. Under the leadership of Shan Masood, Pakistan features prominent players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, while Kraigg Brathwaite captains a West Indies side that includes experienced bowlers such as Kemar Roach and rising stars like Alick Athanaze. As the match approaches, fans are eagerly an tic?ipating a thrilling contest between these tw?o competitive sides.
The upcoming Test series is crucial for both teams as they aim to enhance their performances in the World Test Championship. Pakistan recently ended a winless streak at home by defeating England 2-1, while the Wes?t Indies are looking to rebound from a disappointing run in the curre?nt WTC cycle. The Multan pitch is expected to be slow with some turn, favouring spinners, which adds another layer of intrigue to the match.
Babar, Pakistan’s star batter, will face off against Roach, the seasoned West Indian pacer. Babar’s ability to anchor innings and score runs under pressure will be tested against Roach’s experience and skill in exploiting conditions. Roach’s pace and bounce could challenge Babar’s technique, making this battle pivotal for both teams.
Masood, who has shown remarkable form in recent matches, will be up against聽Jayden Seales, a young fast bowler with impressive wicket-taking ability. Masood’s role as an opener is crucial for setting a solid foundation for Pakistan’s innings. Seales’ knack for early breakthroughs could disrupt Pakistan’s plans if he can dismiss Masood cheaply.
Rizwan, known for his resilience and adaptability, will be challenged by聽Gudakesh Motie, who has emerged as a promising spinner for the West Indies. Rizwan’s ability to rotate the strike and build partnerships will be critical against Motie’s spin bowling, especially on a pitch that may offer assistance to spinners.
Kavem Hodge, who recently made headlines with his maiden Test century against England, will face聽Sajid Khan, one of Pakistan’s leading spinners known for his control and variations. Hodge’s recent form adds pressure on Sajid to deliver early breakthroughs for Pakistan. This battle is significant as Hodge looks to establish himself further in international cricket while Sajid aims to exploit any weaknesses in Hodge鈥檚 game against spin.
Athanaze, coming off strong performances in warm-up matches, faces Noman Ali, another key spinner for P?akistan who has been effective in-home conditions. Athanaze鈥檚 technique against spin will be tested as he seeks to establish himself in international cricket. Noman鈥檚 variations and control could play a significant role in determining how well Athanaze can score.
As both teams prepare for what promises to be an engaging first Test match, these individual battles between batters and bowlers ar??e set to play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the match. With both sides eager to secure victory and improve their standings in the World Test Championship, fans can expect an excitin??g contest filled with skilful play and strategic manoeuvring on the field.

]]>Bangladesh created history with a remarkable 27-run victory over the West Indies in the second T20I at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown.聽 This series win is a monumental moment for Bangladesh cricket, as they secured their first T20I series victory in the Caribbean and ended a six-year wait for a bilateral series win against the West Indies. Shamim Hossain‘s decisive contribution earned him the Player of the Match award. The final match of the series presents an opportunity for Bangladesh to complete a historic whitewash, while the West Indies will aim to salvage some pride in what has been a challenging series.
Opting to bat first after losing the toss, Bangladesh managed to post a modest 129/7 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Shamim, whose explosive 35 not out off 17 balls, featuring two fours and two sixes, provided the much-needed late momentum. Mehidy Hasan Miraz contributed a valuable 26 off 25 balls, while Jaker Ali chipped in with 21. West Indies’ bowling unit was disciplined, with Gudakesh Motie (2/25) and Akeal Hosein (1/16) leading the charge.
Bangladesh’s innings faced early jolts, as they lost Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan within the powerplay. The middle-order partnership between Mehidy and Jaker stabilized the innings before Shamim’s fireworks in the final overs lifted the total to a competitive level.
Chasing 130, the West Indies faltered against a disciplined Bangladesh bowling attack. Taskin Ahmed‘s fiery spell (3/16) dismantled the top order, removing key players Brandon King and Andre Fletcher early. Mahedi Hasan‘s all-round brilliance shone as he claimed 2/20 and kept the run rate in check.
Roston Chase tried to anchor the innings with a gritty 32 off 34, but the lack of support from the other batters proved costly. Hosein’s late effort of 31 off 31 was the only other notable contribution, as the West Indies were bowled out for 102 in 18.3 overs. Rishad Hossain (2/12) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/22) pr?ovided crucial breakthroughs, ensuring the? hosts never regained momentum.

]]>In the 2nd T20I against West Indies on Monday (November 11), England captain Jos Buttler delivered a stunning performance, hitting a remarkable six that sailed out of the stadium. The match, held at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, saw England clinch a comfortable seven-wicket victory, taking a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Earlier in the match, England鈥檚 bowlers made significant inroads after winning the toss and choosing to field. Saqib Mahmood dismissed Brandon King early, while Jofra Archer sent Evin Lewis back for just eight. West Indies struggled to gain momentum, losing key wickets at regular intervals. Nicholas Pooran‘s slow 14 off 23 balls and disappointing contributions from Roston Chase and Sherfane Rutherford left the hosts at a challenging 80/5 after 13 overs. Despite a valiant 43 from captain Rovman Powell and a late cameo by Romario Shepherd, the West Indies managed only 158/8. Mahmood, Livingstone, and Dan Mousley each picked up two wicket??s, effectively restrict?ing the West Indies to a below-par score.
Chasing 159, England got off to a rocky start as last game鈥檚 centurion, Phil Salt, was dismissed for a golden duck by Akeal Hosein. However, Buttler found a reliable partner in Will Jacks, and together, they turned the game around with a phenomenal 129-run stand. Jacks contributed a soli?d 38 off 29 balls, while Buttler dominated with a blistering 83 off 45 deliveries, featuring eight fours and six sixes.
Their partnership dismantled the West Indies bowling attack, setting a strong foundation for England’s comfortable chase. With Buttler鈥檚 commanding knock and Jacks鈥?solid support, England chased down the target in just 14.5 overs, winning by seven wickets with 31 balls remaining. Liam Livingstone added the finishin?g touches with an unbeaten 23 off 11 ball?s.

]]>Guyana Amazon Warriors showcased an outstanding all-round performance to secure a commanding six-wicket win over St Lucia Kings in Match 10 of the聽Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024. The match, held at the Daren Sammy ?National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia, saw the Warriors completely outplay the Kings in both batting and bowling.
The Kings, after being put into bat, struggled to get going and were bundled out for a meager 100 runs in just 14.3 overs. Matthew Forde was the lone bright spot, scoring 31 runs off 21 balls with two sixes and three boundaries. However, the rest of the batting order failed to provide any resistance, crumbling under the pressure of Warriors’ disciplined bowling attack.
Imran Tahir and Gudakesh Motie were the chief destroyers for Guyana, each claiming three wickets. Their crafty spin bowling kept the St Lucia batters in check, and with Keemo Paul chipping in with two vital wickets, the Kings f?ound themselves unable to build any meaningful partnerships, ultimately folding for a paltry total.
One of the pivotal moments of the match was Pakistan鈥檚 Azam Khan taking a sensational catch to dismiss the dangerous Johnson Charles. The incident occurred during the sixth over of the St Lucia innings. Paul, who had been bowling with precision, delivered a full-length ball outside off stump. Charles, attempting to drive through the off side, ended up playing away from his body, producing a faint edge. Azam, stationed behind the stumps, displayed exceptional agility and reflexes, diving sharply to his right to complete a stunning catch. This catch not only removed a key player but also set the tone for the rest of the innings, as Warriors’ batting line-up quickly unraveled.
