In a touching display of solidarity and respect, the Australian squad competing in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 was seen sporting black armbands during their ongoing match against the Netherlands at the Arun Jailey Stadium, Delhi.

The somber gesture caught the attention ??of the fans, prompting inquiries into the reason behind this poignant tribute.

Why Australian players are wearing black armbands?

It was soon revealed that the Australian players were donning the black armbands in respect of Fawad Ahmed and his family following their loss this week.

Australian cricketer Fawad recently announced the death of his four-month-old baby boy. The cricketer and his wife welcomed a second child to their family in?? June this year; however, the baby boy had several health issues and was, therefore, admitted to a hospital in Melbourne to undergo th?e diagnosis.

On October 23, Fawad broke the heartbreaking news of his son’s demise.

“Till we meet again my little angel, Unfortunately after a long struggle my little man has lost the painful & tough fight, I believe you are in a better place, we will miss you so much., I hope no one ever goes through this pain, Request for Prayers,” tweeted the cricketer.

The Australian squad’s decision to wear black armbands during the match was a poignant demonstration of their unity and support for their teammate during this difficult time.

The penultimate game of the round-robin stage of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 saw a one-sided affair between Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKP), on Sunday.

As expected, the table-toppers bulldozed over the bottom-placed SKP side, who registered the fifth-lowest score in CPL history.

The Patriots?captain, Rayad Emrit, won the toss and elected to bat first. They were bundled out for a paltry score of 77 in 18.2 overs.

Only four of the eleven batters managed to reach a double-digit score. The Patriots had no answer to Fawad Ahmed’s spell, where he picked four crucial wickets and conceded just 21 runs in his four overs.

He was well-supported by Akeal Hosein, who p?icked a couple of wickets without conceding many.

Miserly spells from Pravin Tambe, Ali Khan, Sikander Raza and Anderson Phillip kept constant pressure over the Patriots. All four bowlers picked up a wicket each.

The Knight Riders completed the formalities without breaking any sweat with a useful hand from Tion Webster (41 off 33). Tim Seifert (16 off 12) came in and?? finished the job for his side with a??n explosive cameo.

Fawad Ahmed named ‘Player of the Match’

As a result, the Knight Riders managed to clinch a comfortable 9-wicket win over the Patriots. TKR took their winning streak to ten matches in a row.

They equalled Guyana Amazon Warriors?(GAW) record of winning all ten games in the league stages. Ahmed, for his fine spell of bowling, was adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match?

TKR will now face the Jamaica Tallawahs (JT) in the all-important semi-final on September 8.

Australian cricketer Fawad Ahmed has once again suffered a ‘brainfade’ on the cricket field.

In March 2017, Ahmed forgot to carry his bat while wal??king out to bat in a Sheffield Shield clash between Victoria and Western Australian and this time, he walked out with the wrong pair of gloves in a match between Victoria and Queensland.

The Victorian batsman had everything except the correct pair of the gloves. The funniest part is that the 35-year-old realized it while he was wal?king to bat.

When last time something like this happened, Fawad shared a laugh with the Western Australia players but this time, he was ??seen hitting his ?helmet with the bat.

Here’s the video of Fawad’s silly mistake:
