Cricket fans around the world were eagerly awaiting the start of the 2023 edition of the Road Safety World Series, a cricketing extravaganza with a noble mission to promote road safety and prevent accidents. The tournament was scheduled to commence on September 23 and set to be hosted exclusively at the picturesque Uptonsteel County Ground, the home of Leicestershire County Cricket Club.

Leicestershire confirms postponement of Road Safety Series

However, the tournament has now postponed indefi?nitely. According to an official media?? release by Leicestershire County Cricket Club, the decision to postpone the tournament was taken due to logistical issues. It also said that the organizers will try to reschedule the tournament in 2024.

“The much-anticipated Road Safety World Series (RSWS) UK, originally scheduled at Uptonsteel County Ground, Leicester, from September 23rd to October 1st, 2023, has regrettably been postponed indefinitely. The decision comes as a result of unforeseen logistical issues. The organizers are actively working on rescheduling the tournament for the following year. Further updates regarding the Road Safety World Series UK 2024, will be communicated in due course. The Road Safety World Series (RSWS) UK extends gratitude to all our esteemed partners for their support. We will be announcing further updates as we prepare to unveil details of the tournament,” read a statement issued by Leicestershire Count?y C??ricket Club.

Notably, the Road Safety World Series brings together cricketing legends from various nations, all united in their commitment to support the crucial cause of road safety. During the ninth match of the ongoing Road Safety World Series 2021 between India Legends and England Legends, all-rounder Irfan Pathan and pacer Chris Tremlett shared a light moment on the field.

It all happened in the penultimate o??ver of the English innings when Tremlett walked in to bat. The former England speedster, who has undergone an incredible transformation since retiring from cr?icket, was welcomed by Irfan, who compared his biceps with Tremlett, in a humorous manner.

In the game, England Legends posted a 189-run target for the Sachin Tendulkar-led side. The England skipper Kevin Pietersen rolled back the clock and scored a scintillating 75 runs inning from ??just 37 deliveries. The right-handed batsman smashed six fours and five sixes in the match.

In reply, India Legends lost the contest by just six runs before Irfan and Manpreet Gony almost pul??led off a remarkable victory. The game went to the wire with 19 needed off the final six deliveries, but Irfan and Gony could score only manage to s??core 12 in the last over. Pathan r?emained unbeaten on 61 off 34 balls while Gony stayed not out on 35 from 16 deliveries.

After the game, Tremlett took to social media and praised India Legends captain Tendulkar for his fitness. The veteran England pacer appreciated Tendulkar after the two players caught up at the gym. In the ninth match of the ongoing Road Safety World Series T20 2020-21, England Legends defeated India Legends by six runs at Shaheed Veer Narayan? Singh International Stadium in Ra??ipur on Tuesday.

Irfan Pathan and Manpreet Gony almost pulled off a phenomenal victory after the pair had stitched an unbeaten 63-run partnership from just 32 deliveries for the eighth wicket. Unfortunately, their efforts went in vain as England Legends triumphed by ??a mere six runs margin.

It all started when England Legends were asked to bat first, and they set a massive 189-run target for the Sachin Tendulkar-led team. For England, veteran power-hitter Kevin Pietersen showed his vintage avatar after he smashed an 18-ball half-century. Eventually, he scored 75 off 37 balls laced up with six fours and five sixes at?? an incredible strike-rate of 202.70.

In reply, India Legends got off to a dreadful start after Matthew Hoggard removed Virender Sehwag (6) in the second over, followed by Monty Panesar’s remarkable bowling, who dismissed Sachin Tendulkar (9), Mohammad Kaif (1), and Yuvraj Singh (22).

Ryan Sidebottom and James Tredwell also joined the party after they sent back Subramaniam Badrinath (8) and Yusuf Pathan (17) respectively into the pavilion to reduce India Legends to 99/6. 18 runs later, Tredwell packed Naman Ojha’s innings to put India Legends in deep trouble.

Then Pathan and Gony batter together and started counter-attack on England bowlers. At one moment, it seemed like the duo would pull off an improbable victory as the equation came down to 19 runs off the final six deliveries. But, Pathan and Gony could score only 12 from Sidebottom’s last over, thereby losing the contest by just 6 runs. The Road Safety World Series 2021 T20 tournament schedule is confirmed, and the competition starts on March 5 at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur. Like the previous season, legends of the fascinating game will again entertain the fans with their? presence.

Six teams will take part in the competition, including two new sides. India Legends, South Africa Legends, West Indies Legends, and Sri Lanka Legends will continue from where they left last year, while England Legends and Bangladesh Legends will play for the first time. Australia Legends will miss this tournament due to travel restrictions? concerning COVI?D-19 Down Under.

Since the organizers have decided to resume the previous tournament, India Legends will only play three matches again??st England Legends, South Africa Legends and Bangladesh Legends. India had already faced Sri Lanka and West Indies last year.

After the group matches, the top four teams will clash in?? two semi-finals on March 17 and March 18. The final will take place on Sunday (Marc?h 21).
