England Women secured a convincing six-wicket victory over New Zealand Women in the third T20I of the five-match series at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, on Thursday. This? win clinches the series victory for the home side with a 3-0 scoreline.

England restricts New Zealand for 141/8

Opting to bat first after losing the toss, New Zealand got off to a shaky start, losing opener Georgia Plimmer for a duck. However, skipper Suzie Bates anchored the innings with a steady 38 runs off 27 balls. Sophie Devine provided the spark lower down the order with a belligerent knock of 58 runs from 42 deliveries, includi??ng seven fours and two sixes.

Despite these contributions, England’s bowling attack, led by the spin of Sophie Ecclestone (4/25), restricted New Zealand to a modest total of 141/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Lauren Filer (2/17), Sarah Glenn (1/14) and Freya Kemp (1/38) also chipped in with crucial wickets.

England chase down the target with ease

In response, England openers faltered early with Maia Bouchier departing for a duck. However, Sophia Dunkley (35) and Alice Capsey (67 not out) put on a crucial 74-run partnership to steady the ship. Capsey, the Player of? the Match, continued her fine form with a well-composed knock, including six fours and a six.

Amy Jones (19) and Freya Kemp (16*) provided valuable cameos to ensure England ??chased down the target comfortably in 19.2 overs, losing just four wickets.

“With a bowling attack we have got and the people on the sidelines waiting to come in it is a pretty easy job to chuck the ball to different people, so I’m happy I could keep the winning streak going,” England’s stand-in skipper Natalie Sciver-Brunt said in the post-match presentation.

“The last few overs were pretty nervy but the calmness they showed was pretty special.

“We don’t want to do it all the time but putting ourselves under pressure like that and then come out the other side, if we can take to the Bangladesh [for T20 World Cup], that would be perfect,” she added.

England Women emphatically concluded the three-match ODI series against New Zealand Women with a 5-wicket victory in the third and final game at the County Ground in Bristol on Wednesday, July 3. Opting to field first, they displayed disciplined b??owling to restrict the White Ferns to a modest total.

Lauren Bell’s career-best figures stifles New Zealand

The New Zealand batting lineup failed to capitalize on a good batting surface. Openers Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer fell cheaply, while Amelia Kerr (57 runs) and Sophie Devine (43 runs) provided some resistance with gritty half-centuries. But they lack?ed substantial support from the rest of the batting order.

England’s bowling attack, led by the phenomenal Lauren Bell (5-37 in 9 overs), exploited the fragile batting display. Bell’s accuracy and swing bowling proved too much to handle for the New Zealand batters, as she picked up wickets at crucial junctures. Kate Cross (2-46 in 9 overs) ably supported Bell, keeping the run-rate in check with her tight b?owling spells.

Nat Sciver anchors England’s chase; Amy Jones and Alice Capsey provide late flourish

Chasing a modest target of 212, England lost opener Tammy Beaumont early, raising concerns about a potential batting collapse. However, the experienced Natalie Sciver steadied the ship with a composed and well-paced innings of 76 runs. She struck eight boundaries, displaying her ability to rotate strike and score boundaries when needed. Amy Jones (50 runs) provided valuable support at the other end, playing a gritty knock that included seven fours. The youngster Alice Capsey (35 not out) chipped in with a crucial cameo towards the end, ensuring England cross?ed the finish line with 3.2 overs remaining.

Player of the Match

Lauren Bell’s exceptional bowling display, which dismantled the New Zealand batting line-up, deservedly earned her the Player of the Match award. Her ability to swing the new ball and exploit seam movement proved decisive in restricting the visitors’ total. This victory marks a dominant performance by England throughout the three-match ODI series, showcasing their superior form and ability to handle pressure situations. The clean sweep further strengthens their position as a leading force in women’s cricket.

Beaumont scored a magnificent 76 runs off 69 balls, laced with 11 fours and a six. Her partner, Bouchier, was equally aggressive, scoring 67 runs off 50 balls,? including 12 boundaries and a six.

The duo’s partnership laid a solid foundation, ensuring England was well ahead of the required run rate. Heather Knight came in to ?see the team home, contributing 9 runs off 11 balls with one boundary. England reached the target comfortably in? just 21.2 overs, finishing at 157/1.

New Zealand’s bowlers struggled to find breakthroughs. Halliday was the only bowler to take a wicket, conceding 17 runs in her 3.2 overs. The rest of the bowling attack failed to make any significant impact, with Molly Penfold, Jess Kerr, Hannah Rowe, and Fran Jonas all going wicketless.
