The Junior Selection committee held a meeting in Mumbai on Monday to select a 15-man squad for the tournament. Reportedly, the competition is scheduled to take place in Bang?ladesh next month.

Young Kamlesh Nagarkoti has also made a comeback to the Indian Emerging Team for the Asia Cup. The 19-year-old, who has been out of action owing to a persisting back injury that kept him out of this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) as well, has been declared fit.

He had last played a competitive game during the Vijay Hazare Tro??phy in 2018.

“It was tough; I used to get emotional watching the IPL on TV. All my teammates were playing, and I was recovering from an injury.

“It used to be frustrating, but my main aim was to get fit and get back on the ground. I worked really hard for that,” Nagarkoti told Cricketnext.

The Rajasthan pacer isn’t thinking too far ahead and is looking forward to once again impress the selectors.

“Whatever happened has happened, I am not thinking about it too much. I want to show everyone that I am still the same bowler and I am looking forward to whatever opportunity I get. I have worked hard on my body, diet to regain my fitness,” he added.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) junior selection committee has named all-rounder Jayant Yadav as the skipper of India’s 15-man squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2018. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka from December 2 to 17.

??The 28-year-old Yadav, who has played four Tests and an ODI, last represented India in the first of the four-Test series against Australia at Pune in February last year. He is currently playing for Har?yana in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2018-19 season.

Much will be expected from Deepak Hooda and Nitish Rana, who have performed impressively in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Fast bowler Shivam Mavi, who was a part of Prithvi Shaw’s victorious India U-19 World Cup side, also earned a call-up.
