18-year-old Prithvi Shaw was the star in his own unique way despite Shreyas Iyer’s blitzkrieg of a captain’s knock that propelled Delhi Daredevils to the highest total in the IPL 2018 and an eventual 55-run victory against Kolkata Knight Riders.

The highlight of Shaw’s 62-runs innings was, of course, that helicopter shot which he hit in the penultimate delivery of the ninth over.

A length ball onto the stumps from Mitchell Johnson was elegantly flicked over mid-wicket, but what most onlookers found the wristy strike to be a probable attempt at imitating Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s famous Helicopter shot.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) thrashed Delhi Daredevils by 71 runs to notch their second win of the IPL season 11 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Monday.

Put in to bat first, the hosts overcame a slow start to post 200/9 from their 20 overs. They rode on Nitish Rana’s 59 and Andre Russell’s 12-ball 41 to reach the big total. Robin Uthappa chipped in with a crucial 35. Rahul Tewatia was the pick of the DD bowlers as he finished with figures of 3-0-18-3, with all three of his wickets coming in the final over of KKR’s innings.

In reply, DD kept losing wickets at regular intervals and folded for 129. Glenn Maxwell and Rishabh Pant score 47 and 43, respectively, while for KKR, Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav picked three wickets each.

IPL 2017: Manish Pandey took Kolkata Knight Riders over the line in a tense final over off Delhi Daredevils experience spin-bowler Amit Mishra where KKR almost looked they would throw it away.

Delhi Daredevils batsman Pat Cummins enjoyed a huge stroke of luck during a T20 match against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday (April 17) as he escaped being bowled despite the ball hitting the stumps.

This dramatic incident happened in the last over of Daredevils innings when Cummins tried to hit the delivery bowled by Nathan Coulter-Nile out of the ground, completely failed to make contact with the ball and it went on to hit the leg-stump. However, the KKR teammates handed an astonishing reprieve when the bails did not come off despite being hit by the ball.

A shocked Counter-Nile was seen holding his head in astonishment while a lucky Cummins was seen smiling after the incident.

Delhi Daredevils’ Rishabh Pant was on fire against Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers especially Umesh Yadav at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, Delhi on Monday.
