The International Cricket Council recently announced the final digital content viewing numbers for ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019. The #CWC19 video content views were over 4.6 billion, with 2.3 billion minutes watched on YouTube and 1.2 billion minutes on Facebook.

Speaking about these unprecedented numbers, ICC CEO Manu Sawhney said, “The growth in consumption along with these record-breaking numbers demonstrates the power of cricket to bring together an enormous global audience“.

These numbers also confirm the tournament as one of the world’s most-watched sporting event. The ICC website and app had a total of 75 million unique users with 824 million page views.

On Twitter, there were around 31 million tweets with the hashtag “CWC19”. India-Pakistan match was the biggest ODI on the platform with 2.9 million tweets beating the final between England and New Zealand.

In the last ball thriller, England defeated New Zealand by boundary count to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 championship. This is England’s first World Cup title, after being runners-up three times previously.

The match went to the Super Over as both teams ended up in a tie, scoring 241 runs each in their quota of 50 o?vers. The Super Over too resulted in a tie with England and ??New Zealand getting 15 runs each.

As per ICC’s rule book, if Super Over ends in a tie, the team with the maximum number of boundaries in the match is declared the winner. New Zealand with 16 boundaries fell short of England’s 24 boundaries.

Ben Stokes was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his unbeaten innings of 84 runs. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was named the ‘Player of the Series’.

On Saturday, South Africa defeated Australia by 10 runs to register its first World Cup victory over the five-time champions since 1992. The victory helped South Africa finish seventh in the 2019 World Cup standings with seven points from nine games, while Australia dropped to second after losing their second game?? in the tournament. They will now take on hosts England in the second semi-final, while table-toppers India to play New Zealand in the first.

Earlier, Quinton de Kock paid the best tribute possible to Indian wicket-keeper MS Dhoni on his 38th birthday. The South African wicket-keeper affected a brilliant ru??n-out in pure Dhoni style.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 19th over. The Proteas leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who was playing his last match in South African colors, bowled his stock delivery on David Warner’s pads. Warner, without any trouble, played it towards Kagiso Rabada at short square-leg.

Stoinis, on the other end, responded to Warner’s anticipation for a quick single. But, Rabada made the ground real quick and threw the ball while diving in motion towards de Kock.

After facing 21 runs defeat against Bangladesh on Sunday at Lord’s, there is another bad news for the South African cricket fans. Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi suffered a hamstring injury and left ?the ground at the end of his fourth over.

According to the team management, Lungi would undergo scans tomorrow but will not be available on 5th June for the match against India.

“He was assessed and clinically we felt that he had a left hamstring strain. We decided not to let him go out there and bowl any further in this match. So currently, it probably means that he’ll be out for about a week to 10 days, but we’ll have scans done tomorrow. The plan will be probably to get him ready for the West Indies match“, South African team manager informed ICC.

After losing their first two games, Ngidi injury added more worries for the Proteas. Hashim Amla suffered a blow to his he??ad during the match against?? Australia and was unavailable for the second match against Bangladesh.

Dale Steyn is still recovering from his shoulder injury a?nd is yet to play a match in the tournament. Through during the post-matc??h presentation, skipper Faf du Plessis mentioned that Steyn has started bowling in the nets, so hopefully we will see him soon.

During a practice session at The Rose Bowl in Southampton, Indian skipper Virat Kohli faced a minor injury on his thumb. He immed??iately got some treatment ?from the team physio to ease the pain.

According to the reports, BCCI sources told ANI that the Indian captain is completely fit and there is no reason to worry. After getting the tre?atment, Kohli continued his practice and finished the training session.

This is Virat’s first World Cup tournament as a captain and third one as a player. On Thursday, Kohli was seen bowling in the nets b??efore gearing up for the batting session.
