Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Dinesh Karthik shared a picture of himself getting vaccinated on his Twitter account on Tuesday, May 11.

Australian opener Chris Lynn took a jibe at Karthik for his dress code who was seen wearing camouflage pants and a black t-shirt.

“Could have at least worn pants,” Lynn, trolling the 35-year-old wicket-keeper, replied on the post.

Karthik was quick to post a witty reply.

He wrote: “I was thinking shorts like you, then realised I’m not in Maldives. So wore this.”

Lynn and Karthik shared a good bonding as they spent time in the KKR franchise before Lynn moved to Mumbai Indians (MI).

Lynn and the other Australian players along with staff involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 are currently quarantined in the Maldives as there is a travel ban in Australia.

The 31-year-old did not get to play a single match for MI in the 2020 edition. In 2021, he got his first chance in the opening match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and scored in the 40s. However, he was soon replaced by Quinton de Kock once the latter’s quarantine period ended.

The IPL has been indefinitely suspended due to increasing coronavirus cases in the bio-bubble, but the banters between the players have not stopped as they take on each other on social media.

The Indian government has opened vaccinations for the 18+ people in the country from May 1, which has enabled the players to get vaccinated. Before Karthik, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishant Sharma, Deepak Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah got vaccinated as well.

After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) postponed the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, many players have returned home to spend quality time with their families. Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Shikhar Dhawan has reached his residence and, on Thursday, posted a picture of himself receiving the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

In his social media post, Dhawan expressed his gratitude towards the frontline warriors for their persistent efforts in helping the needy people. The left-handed batter also requested others to come forward and get themselves immunised in order to defeat the spread of novel coronavirus.

“Vaccinated. Can’t thank all our frontline warriors enough for their sacrifices and dedication. Please do not hesitate and get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible. It’ll help us all defeat this virus,” tweeted Dhawan.

The senior Indian batsman was in fine touch for his side in the fourteenth season of the cash-rich league. He was the leading run-scorer before the season was halted due to multiple COVID-19 cases in the bio-bubbles of various franchises.

Dhawan was the Orange Cap holder with 380 runs from eight matches at an impressive average of 54.28 and a remarkable strike rate of over 134 before the league was suspended. While scoring these runs, the 35-year-old also became the second-highest run-getter in IPL history. Dhawan has 5577 runs to his name in 184 matches, and he is right behind Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli, who has 6076 runs to his credit from 199 games.

Speaking about the Capitals, they were at the top spot in the points table before the season was postponed. The Rishabh Pant-led side won 6 out of 8 matches and has a net run rate (NRR) of 0.547 second best after Chennai Super Kings (+1.263).

West Indies star batsman Chris Gayle has thanked India and its Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines to Jamaica. He has joined the list of several former and current West Indies cricketers who have thanked India for sending 50,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines to the Caribbean nation.

“Honourable Prime Minister Modi, people of India and Government of India, I want to thank you for the donation of vaccine to Jamaica. We appreciate it, thank you so much. India I will be seeing you soon and thanks once again,” Gayle said in a video shared by the official Twitter handle of the Indian High Commission in Jamaica.

“The Universe Boss,” tweeted the Indian High Commission showing pictures of R. Masakui – the High Commissioner of India – and Gayle having a candid chat at the office.

On the work front, Gayle will be in India for IPL 2021 starting from April 9. After conquering the Bengaluru crowd for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gayle made a quiet move to Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) in 2018 and made an instant impact with another strong season that included a century against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Gayle had a fine season in 2020 where he was on the verge of getting his 7th IPL century but got out on 99. He struck 3 half-centuries and scored a total of 288 runs from 210 balls that he faced. Could this be his last season in IPL? Well probably, but he is sure to summon a “Gaylestorm” in India.
