The final encounter of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) between Chittagong Kings and Fortune Barishal ended in a nail-biting finish with exciting cricketing action for fans and analysts alike. Ultimately, Barishal managed to secure a win in the final of the Bangladesh‘s elite T20 league to win the coveted trophy for the second consecutive time and retain the title in an emphatic fashion.
Barishal won the toss at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka and elected to bowl first with an aim to bowl out Kings and assert early dominance in the match., However, their plans did not bear any fruit for the team due to a power-packed performance by Kings鈥?batters. The opening pair partnership between Khawaja Nafay and Parvaiz Hossain Emon placed Kings in the front during the all-important encount??er.
The two batters garnered a total of 121 runs between them in 12 overs and played some emphatic shots at the centre of the park. Emon, in particular, was the star of the Kings鈥?innings as he saw his team through during the entirety of the innings and played an unbeaten knock of 78 runs off 49 balls with 6 boundaries and 4 towering sixes to his name. Due to a remarkable innings from Emon and contributions from Graham Clark who stormed a 44-run knock off 23 b?alls, Kings managed to put together ??a total of 194/3 in 20 overs.
In response, Barishal did get the solid start it desperately needed. Openers Tawhid Hridoy and skipper Tamim Iqbal carved out a storming partnership as they put together 76 runs in 8 overs. ??Iqbal was the star of the show for Barishal as he wreaked havoc on Kings bowlers. Iqbal smashed 9 fours and a majestic six to play a 54-run kn?ock off just 29 balls and lifted the spirits up for his team.
Following Iqbal鈥檚 dismissal, Kyle Mayers in the middle-order continued to carry on the momentum and put the BPL title holders in a commanding position to retain their title. Mayers scored 46 runs off 28 balls and developed partnerships with Mushfiqur Rahim and Rishad Hossain who contributed with 16 and 18 runs respectively to sail their team through in the finals of the coveted league. Ultimately, Barishal triumphed o??ver Kings by 3 wickets with 3 balls remaining and retained the title for the second consecutive time.

]]>The ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 has captivated cricket fans with its thrilling matches and intense player rivalries. Among the standout moments, an incident involving Pakistani pacer Mohammad Wasim Jr. has?? drawn signifi??cant attention, showcasing the high stakes and emotional intensity of the tournament.
During a match between Rangpur Riders and Chittagong Kings, tensions flared when Wasim Jr. threw the ball in frustration after a play involving Bangladesh‘s Nurul Hasan. The incident occurred towards the end of Rangpur’s innings, where Wasim Jr. was bowling. After delivering a fulish ball that was driven back to him, he attempted a direct hit at the stumps as Hasan tried to sneak a quick single. The ball deflected off the stumps, leading to an intense stare-off between the two players as Wasim Jr. returned to his mark, visibly agitated by the situation.
This moment encapsulates the fierce competition that characterizes the BPL, where every run and wicket is fought for with passion. The match concluded with Rangpur Riders securing a 33-run victory, but it was Wasim Jr.’s fiery demeanour that lingered in the minds of spectators long after the final ball was bowled.

]]>The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) witnessed a heartwarming moment on the field as Mehidy Hasan, the captain of Khulna Tigers,聽had a special gesture for Chittagong King鈥檚 Tom O鈥機onnell at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur.? The incident received widespread appreciation in the cricketing community.
The incident happened as Khulna Tigers were playing against Chittagong Kings and the latter were chasing down a total of 204 runs. Haider Ali was dismissed by Mohammad Nawaz which gave way for the arrival of the Australian batter O鈥機onnell on the crease. But his arrival took longer than anticipated. Puzzled and frustrated at wasting time, Hasan appealed for a time-out dismissal to O鈥機onnell. The field umpire gave the decision in ??favour of the Tigers but upon re-visiting his decision, the Tigers鈥?skipper Hasan dec??ided to withdraw his appeal. O鈥機onnell had already returned to the pavilion and was called back on the crease to bat for the Kings.
However, O鈥機onnell failed to take advantage of a grace opportunity from Tigers as the Australian batter was dismissed on a golden duck by Mohammad Nawaz who gave a stellar performance for his team with the bowl. The incident revealed the true sportsperson spirit of Hasan. Had the Tigers skipper not withdrawn his appeal, O鈥機onnell would’ve been the first batter in BPL history to have been dismissed in this manner.
The only other incident of this sort in international cricket was when Angelo Matthews was sent back to the pavilion during ICC Men鈥檚 ODI World Cup 2023 in a match against Bangladesh when skipper Shakib Al-Hasan enforced the decision against the Sri Lankan? b??atter.

Khulna Tigers had put a mammoth total on board for Chittagong Kings to chase. Will Bosisto鈥檚 unbeaten 75-run knock was the highlight of the Tigers鈥?batting effort. Contributions from Mahidul Islam Ankon and Mohammad Naim played a crucial role for the home side to put 203 runs on-board.
In response, Chittagong King’s effort with the bat was disappointing. Shamim Hossain tried to stabilise the Kings run-chase with a cour??ageous 78-run knock but continuous fall of wickets from the other end and a huge total from Tigers proved out to be too m?uch for the middle-order batter. In the end, Kings were bowled out for 166 in 18.5 overs. Thus, Tigers won the match by 37 runs.

]]>West Indies pacer Oshane Thomas experienced a bizarre outing during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 match between Khulna Tigers and Chittagong Kings at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Representing the Tigers, Thomas was tasked with defending a daunting total of 204 runs. Opening the bowling, he endured an extraordinary 12-ball over that became the ??highlight of the match due to its sheer unpredictability and unusual length.
The first ball of Thomas鈥檚 over set the tone for the chaos that ensued. Delivered as a no-ball, it was followed by a free-hit that Naeem Islam dispatched for a massive six, instantly adding 7 runs to the scoreboard. However, the drama didn鈥檛 stop there. Another no-ball compounded the misery, this time struc?k for a boundary by Islam, bringing the total tally from that single l?egal delivery to a staggering 15 runs. This sequence marked one of the rare instances where a bowler conceded such a large number of runs from just one legal ball.

Thomas鈥檚 inability to find his rhythm continued as the over progressed. He bowled two wides and three additional no-balls, further inflating the Kings鈥?score and frustrating his team. Despite his raw pace, his lack of control allowed the opposition to capitalize on free hits and extra deliveries. By the time Thomas managed to deliver two legal dot balls, the over had already spiraled out of contr?ol, leaving the Tigers under pressure.
Amidst the carnage, Thomas managed to find a silver lining. On the fifth legal delivery of the over – following a series of extras – he induced an edge from Islam, which resulted in a crucial dismissal. The wicket brought some relief to the Tigers鈥?camp, but the damage had already been done. By the end of the over, Thomas had bowled 12 deliveries, conceding 18 runs, with 15 of those coming from the first legal ball alone.
Recognizing Thomas鈥檚 struggles, the Tigers鈥?skipper opted not to bring him back into the attack for the remainder of the match. Despite his shaky performance, the Tigers managed to secure a convincing 37-run victory, thanks to a strong batting display led by William Bosisto and Mahidul Islam Ankon, both of whom struck half-centuries. The Kings鈥?late resurgence, fueled by Shamim Hossain鈥檚 blistering 78 off 38 balls??, ultim?ately fell short.
