For the next year’s edition, two-times Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have named former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum as their head coach, a role that was earlier occupied by legendary South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis.

In the past, McCu?llum played for the franchise from 2008 to 2010 and re-joine??d in the 2012-13 season. He was part of the KKR side, which won their first IPL title in 2012.

In the first season of the I??PL in 2008, McCullum ??gave the tournament a perfect start as he smashed an unbeaten 158 for KKR in the inaugural match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

“It’s a great honour to take on this responsibility,” said McCullum, who recently announced his retirement as a player. The Knight Rider franchises in IPL & CPL have become iconic and have set the standard in franchise cricket. We have fantastic squads in both KKR & TKR and I along with the support staff will be looking to build on the successes both franchises have enjoyed,” he added.

KKR’s CEO, Venky Mysore said: “Brendon has been an integral part of the Knight Riders family for a long time. His leadership qualities, honesty, positive and aggressive style, combined with his natural ability to bring the best out of the teams he has been part of, makes him ideally suited to lead KKR and TKR as head coach.”

KKR have also severed ties with Simon Katich who was the assistant coach but ?a replacement for him is yet to be announce??d.

The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin from April 7 and Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will commence their campaign on April 8 ag??ainst Kolkata Knight Riders.

During the shoot, Kohli shows some good moves with ?a perfect footwork whereas Yuzi could not control his laughter while performing on the stage.

India opener Rohit Sharma added a fresh feather into his already illustrious cap as he set a new milestone in International cricket during the Men In Blue’s first T20 match of the series against Australia in Ranchi on Saturday.

Rohit batted just seven balls ??before getting out in the first T20I but still managed to set a rare record. The 30-year-old hit his 30th six in International cricket in 2017 out of which 29 are in ODIs.

With 30 sixes this year, Rohit has become th?e first player to hit 30 and more sixes in five consecutive calendar years in International cricket. The Mumbai lad hit 36 sixes across all formats in 2013 and 30 in 2014 despite missing out quite a few games due to injury. In 2015, the right-handed batsman hit 38 and better it in 2016 striking 46 maximums over the boundary ropes.

With the six off Nathan Coulter-Nile at Ranchi, Rohit became the first player to hit 30+ sixes in five consecutive years. Thus, he broke the previous record of four consecutive years jointly held by Brendon McCullum and Shane Watson.

Chris Gayle, MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh are the other batsmen to hit 30+ sixes in three conse?cutive years.
