Scott Styris, renowned for his bold and profound insights of the game, recently forecasted that status of the points table by the end of round-robin stage of IPL 2020.

There, he predicted that the star-studded Rajasthan Royals (RR) would end up at the bottom of the points table.

The ex-New Zealand cricketer also opined that the Delhi Capitals (DC) would top the table and go on to win IPL 2020.

Further, the cricketer-turned-commentator predicted that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) would accompany DC in the playoffs.

Now, the Royals have come up with a cheeky reply to Styris’ tweet, which boldly affirmed about the franchise finishing last.

Just casually saving the tweet here,?replied the Royals?

A flabbergasted Styris then responded to RR’s post and wrote, “Love it! Would love nothing better than you to prove me wrong. BUT… you’ve got my boy Ish “reetinder” Sodhi there helping you out… Can’t back you on this alone.

RR’s fielding a strong squad in IPL 2020

On the contrary, the Royals have a strong unit this time around with some exciting recruits.

RR boasts a galaxy of international stars such as Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, David Miller, Tom Curran, Andrew Tye and Oshane Thomas in their lineup.

The Royals also have a strong Indian contingent in their roster, featuring the likes of Sanju Samson, Robin Uthappa, Varun Aaron, Shreyas Gopal, Manan Vohra and Jaydev Unadkat.

Furthermore, in the last auctions, RR’s invested for the future by bagging the 2020 U19 World Cup sensations Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kartik Tyagi.

On Tuesday, RR instated Australian spin wizard Shane Warne as the brand ambassador and team mentor.

Warne helped the Ro??yals clinch the inaugural season of the IPL in 2008. Earlier, he helped groom several youngsters?? during his stint with the franchise as a captain and coach.

The 15-member New Zealand squad, which toured Austr?alia rece??ntly to feature in the Chappell Hadlee Trophy, has been prescribed self-isolation for the scare of Coronavirus outbreak.

The Trans-Tasman rivals could only feature in one out of the three ODIs scheduled as the remainder of the m?atches were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hosts Australia won the match by a margin of 71 runs with the game played in front of empty stands and players re??placing handshakes with fist-pumps.

Initially, the matc??hes were scheduled to be played at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on March 16 and then at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on March 20.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) public affairs manager Richard Boock stated, “They [Black Caps players and touring staff] have all gone into self-isolation. We’ve passed on all the details about what self-isolation means, and as far as we know, they all following it strictly.”

Earlier, the South African squad, which toured India, was also advised self-isolation to curb the chances o?f transmission of the virus.

“It’s only advice, and we can’t instruct them what to do. All we can do is give them the best advice and latest information and contacts in the areas where they’re going,” continued Boock.

The outbreak is now at its epicentre based in Europe and the Middle East, originally hailing from?? Wuhan in China. Coronavirus has left the sporting w??orld in a standstill with all premier events currently on hold.

“Right now, it’s a holding pattern for us, and we’re keeping the players informed. We’re working closely with the CPA [Cricket Players’ Association], who’ve been fantastic. It’s one of those times where you all pull together,” concluded the NZC official.

betvisa888 cricket betAUSvsNZ – Cricket Times - betvisa888 //betvisa68.com/2020/03/justin-langer-in-dire-search-for-a-finisher-like-master-ms-dhoni/ Wed, 11 Mar 2020 07:20:18 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=38699

The head coach of the Australian cricket team, Justin Langer, went on record to claim that his team needs a fini??sher in white-ball cricket, following the trails of MS Dhoni.

Australia suffered a 3-nil defeat at the hands of South Africa during their limited-overs tour. After winning the T20I series handsomely by 2-1, t?he Aussies had no answer to the resolute of the hosts in the ODIs.

Langer tried out fellow West Australian Mitchell Marsh at?? the crucial number six slot for the role of the finisher. The latter came up with scores of 32 and 36 in the second and thi??rd ODI, respectively.

The former Austr?alian opener heaped praises on countrymen Michael Hussey and Michael Bevan regarding their finishing abilities.

“We’ve been fortunate in the past with a Mike Hussey or a Michael Bevan who are masters at it. MS Dhoni is a master of it, Jos Buttler has been brilliant at it for England,” Langer told ICC.

“What I’ve learned is everyone in the world is looking for it. So it’s a role that’s there for someone to grab hold of,” continued the 49-year-old.

Following the top-heavy batting lineup, the Kangaroos have been found wanting of-late, down the order. Langer looked up to finishers like Jos Buttler and MS Dhoni, affirming Australia’s need for a finisher of similar quality.

Despite scorin??g a record tally of runs in the re??cently concluded Big Bash League (BBL) season, there is still no sign of Marcus Stoinis in the Australian squad.

For the selectors, it has been a toss-up between Marsh and Stoinis for the all-rounder’s role in the team. But they have favored the former in the white-ball series against New Zealand and South Africa.

“No one at this stage has absolutely secured it, have they? But there are good opportunities there for someone to do that,” Langer added.

Australia plays New Zealand next for the Chappell-Hadlee ODI series,?? due to commence on Friday, Marc??h 13.

betvisa888 betAUSvsNZ – Cricket Times - betvisa live //betvisa68.com/2020/03/trent-boult-slams-michael-clarke-for-his-token-games-comment/ Mon, 09 Mar 2020 10:41:02 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=38627

New Zealand’s left-arm quick, Trent Boult, criticized Michael Clarke for one of his comments on the upcoming Chappell-Hadlee ODI series.

After Australia’s fifth ICC Women’s T20 World Cup win, Clarke suggested that the upcoming games should not have been scheduled, and the? season should have culminated after the multilateral tournament.

“Absolute token games of cricket,” commented Clarke on Big Sports Breakfast.”To be honest, I can’t believe it. I’m a cricket fan through and through, but whoever has made the decision to put these three ODIs on, it’s footy season,” the former Australian captain added.

Australian men’s team also completed their limited-overs tour of South Africa, after the final game at Potchefstroom on Saturday.

“Cricket season is finished. What a great way to finish it with the women winning the World Cup as well. I’ll be very surprised if anybody turns up to watch those games,” predicted Clarke.

On the contrary, Boult regarded the upcoming ODI matches will be competitive and was?? very much looking forward to playing in Australia.

“Michael Clarke doesn’t sound too happy for some reason, I don’t know what’s got under his skin. I don’t know why the series is token. There’s a good trophy up for grabs between both teams and we can’t wait to hopefully lift it,” Boult told a journalist according to cricket.com.au.

Australian?s are coming off a whitewash ODI series defeat in South Africa, while New Zealand is flying high by completing a clean sweep in the ODI and Test series against India.

“Australia’s an awesome place to play cricket. They’re big stadiums compared to the ones here. I’m sure there will be a crowd there with a few supporters. I’m already ready to hear some sledging and a few other things. It’s going to be an exciting series, no matter what some people are saying.” concluded Boult.

The first and the second O?DI will be played at SCG on March 13 and 15, respectively, while the final ODI will be played at Blundston??e Arena at Hobart on March 20.

The virtual quarter-final fixture in Group A between defending champions Australia and contenders New Zealand was played at Junction Oval i??n Melbourne on Monday (March 2).

The White Ferns backed themselves to chase down the tot??al after winning the toss, despite falling short by a whisker against India in their second game of the tournament.

Opener Beth Mooney’s 50-ball 60 steered the h??osts towards an above par score of 155 in 20 overs. Captain Meg Lanning and Ashleigh Gardner gave ample support to the left-hander to lay a foundation for the likes of Elysee ??Perry and Rachel Haynes, who provided the finishing impetus.

However, their issues against? slow-bowling were exposed yet again with Amelia Kerr (1/22) and Anna Peterson (2/31) putting brakes on Australia’s charge.

After losing the wicket of their hard-hitting opener, Rachel Priest, who gave quick start to the ?chase, it was up to their two most experienced campaigners.

The stage was perfectly set for Suzie Bates and Devine to take New Zealand home with the score at 53/1, b??y the end?? of eight over.

Moreover, it all? changed when Georgia Wareham was handed the ball. The leggie turned the match around for Australia as she picked up three qu??ick wickets during her spell, giving away only 17 to cause havoc in the Kiwi dugout.

None of New Zealand’s threatened to chase down the Australian total since, barring Katey Martin, who took the game deep with her knock 31, which came off j?ust 17 deliveries.

Martins was left with too much to do, in the end, as Australia edged past New Zealand by four runs to book yet another semi-finals berth in the c??ompetition.

New Zealand suffered another loss despite getting heart-wrenchingly close to? the total. Georgia Wareham was adjudged as the Player of the M??atch.
