Chamari Athapaththu’s remarkable century for Sri Lanka

Her innings was a standout highlight, marking her third T20I century and setting a new milestone for Sri Lankan’s cricket. She has also become the first women player to hit the ton in the T20I format of the Asia Cup. Athapaththu’s century, which helped Sri Lanka post a formidable total of 184/4 in their 20 overs, was a masterclass in aggressive batting. She scored an unbeaten 119 runs off just 69 balls, with an impressive strike rate of 172.46. Her innings was punctuated with 14 boundaries and 7 sixes, showcasing her exceptional ability to dominate the bowlers

Athapaththu started her innings cautiously, aiming to build a solid foundation. Set a target of 109, Pakistan achieved their goal in just 11.5 overs, powered by exceptional performances from Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali. Nepal Women’s struggles: Battling to a modest total

Nepal faced significant challenges throughout their innings, ultimately posting a total of 108/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Their innings faltered from the start with the early dismissal of Samjhana Khadka for just 4 runs. Sita Rana Magar provided a brief period of stability with a patient 26 off 30 balls, but crucial contributions were lacking from other key players, including captain Indu Barma and Kabita Kunwar, who were dismissed for low scores. Pakistan’s chase was masterfully led by openers Feroza and Muneeba, who made light work of the target.
