The second day of the Pakistan vs England 2nd Test ended with Pakistan having a slight upper hand after a dramatic day of cricket. Despite a solid start by England’s openers, Pakistan fought back brilliantly in the final session, led by Sajid Khan‘s impactful bowling. England finished the day at 239/6, trailing Pakistan by 127 runs.

England’s early dominance fades after strong start

After Pakistan was bowled out for 366 in their first innings, England’s openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett gave their team a solid start. The duo put together a 77-run opening stand, laying a good foundation for the visitors. Crawley, looking in fine touch, was dismissed for 37 after being trapped by Noman Ali. Duckett continued to dominate, forming a 52-run partnership with Ollie Pope before Sajid removed Pope for 27.

Duckett reached a well-deserved century, anchoring the innings and keeping the scoreboard ticking. He found support in Joe Root, and the pair stitched an 86-run partnership. However, Sajid turned the ??tide for Pakistan, dismissing Root for 34, which trigge??red a mini-collapse. From 211/3, England lost three quick wickets, finishing the day at 239/6. Sajid’s excellent spell left the visitors reeling, as he picked up crucial wickets and broke the momentum.

Pakistan’s morning session heroics

Earlier in the day, Pakistan started their innings at 314/6, adding 52 more runs before being bowled out. Mohammad Rizwan was the first to depart, caught behind off Brydon Carse‘s short-of-length delivery. However, Agha Salman shifted gears and scored fluently,? finding the boundary at regular intervals. He received solid support from Jamal, and the pair added a steady 38-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Salman’s aggressive stroke play, including boundaries off Matthew Potts, helped Pakistan surpass the 350-run mark. Potts, however, got his revenge by dismissing Salman with a delivery that had extra bounce. Pakistan’s lower order did not last long as Sajid was lured into a drive and fell to Jack Leach, chippin??g the?? ball to cover. The hosts were eventually bowled out for 366 in 123.3 overs, setting a challenging total for England.

The second day of the first Test between Pakistan and England saw a controversial moment that left fans and players alike debating the umpire’s decision. England’s Chris Woakes seemed to have caught Pakistan’s Agha Salman, but the batter was given ‘not out?after a detailed review. The decision sparked discussions, with many wondering wh??at led to the final call.

Chris Woakes’ catch and the moment of doubt

Salman was batting on 15 when England’s Jack Leach bowl?ed a flighted delivery around the off-stump, prompting Salman to come down the track for a lofted shot. However, the Pakistani batter mistimed the shot, sending the b??all high toward long-off instead of deep into the stands.

Chris Woakes settled under the ball and appeared to take the catch, but as he was backtracking toward the boundary rope, his momentum threatened to carry him beyond the field of play. In an attempt to avoid stepping over the boundary, Woakes threw the ball in the air and hopped back in, completing the catch on a second attempt. However, upon review, it was determined that Woakes’ right foot was still grounded when he first made contact with the ball, meaning he had not yet completed the catch. The decision came down to mere milliseconds, but ultimately, the “benefit of the doubt” was awarded to Salman, as commentator Nasser Hussain noted on air. Umpire Chris Gaffaney ruled i??n favour of the batter, allowing Salman to continue his innings.

Following the controversial moment, Salman capitalized on the reprieve and went on to score an impressive century. His unbeaten 104 was instrumental in Pakistan’s dominant batting performance. betvisa loginAgha Salman – Cricket Times - betvisa888 casino //betvisa68.com/2024/03/misbah-ul-haq-selects-pakistans-batting-order-for-the-t20-world-cup-2024/ Mon, 04 Mar 2024 14:30:25 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=125666

In anticipation of the T20 World Cup 2024, Misbah-ul-Haq, the former head coach of Pakistan, shared his vision for the team’s batting order.

Ultimate clash against arch-rivals India:

The tournament, set to take place in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) from June 1, will commence with an exciting clash between the USA and Canada in Dallas. Pakistan’s journey begins on June 6 against the USA, with a highly awaited encounter against India? scheduled for June 9 at Eisenhower Park in New York.

Misbah’s insight on Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 batting order

During a discussion on a local sports channel, Misbah delved into the dynamics of the middle order, emphasizing the pivotal roles of Agha Salman, Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan. These players were singled out as potential assets to fortify Pakistan’s middle-order, a crucial aspect contributing to the team’s success in the tournament.

“Potentially the names I’m seeing are simple. Agha Salman is there, Azam Khan is there, Iftikhar Ahmed is there, and Shadab Khan is there. Regarding Fakhar, you’re already thinking about him,” Misbah said.

The strategic considerations also extended to the top-order configuration. Misbah expressed a strong inclination towards Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Saim Ayub. However, the key revelation was Misbah’s proposal for a potential reshuffle, advocating for Ayub as the opener alongside the seasoned duo of Azam and Rizwan. According to Misbah, Saim’s ability to provide a left-hand, right-hand combination makes him an ideal choice for the opening position.

“You know the top three: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Saim Ayub. I think Saim is at the top, then you should either place Babar at three or open with him, or let Rizwan play at three or open. Saim should be the opener because you need a left-hand, right-hand combination,” the 49-year-old concluded.

Pakistan’s journey in the T20 World Cups so far:

Pakistan encountered a challenging start in the inaugural global showpiece event in 2007 under the captaincy of Shoaib Malik, culminating in a final showdown against arch-rivals India. Unfortunately, they faced defeat in the hands of India, missing out on the coveted trophy. Nevertheless, redemption came swiftly as Pakistan bounced back to claim the T20 World Cup title in 2009. In a thrilling summit clash against Sri Lanka, they emerged victorious, showcasing their prowess in the shortest forma?t.

Despite this initial success, Pakistan has faced a trophy drought in T20 World Cups since their 2009 triumph. In the last edition of the tournament in 2022, the team displayed exceptional skills, securing a spot in the finals. Nonetheless, their quest for the trophy was thwarted by England,?? who emerged victorious by five wickets in a closely conteste??d final.

Lahore Qalandars’ strong start: Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan’s flourish

Opting to bat first in a batting-friendly Lahore pitch, the Qalandars got off to a strong start with openers Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan cruising to 66/0 at the end of the powerplay. The splendid opening stand of 67 runs was disrupted by Shadab, who dismissed Zaman in the seventh over. The early rhythm was disrupted when the Qalandars’ pacer Zaman Khan delivered a crucial breakthrough, dismissing Munro on the last ball of the fifth over. In a remarkable display of power-hitting, Shadab, during his innings of 74, unleashed an onslaught on the Qalandars’ bowling unit. Two of the five maximums came off Rauf’s deliveries, showcasing Shadab’s command over the pace bowler. The first six came on the first ball of the 16th over, as Haris delivered a ball in the slot, and Shadab dispatched it over long-on for a massive six, covering a remarkable distance of 98 meters. Following this, on the next delivery, Haris bowled another one in the slot, and Shadab, giving himself room to the leg side, effortlessly carved the ball over extra cover for yet another six.
