Suryakumar, who himself is known for hitting out-of-the-box cricketing shots, was amazed by Rashid’s no-look stroke and left a cheeky appreciation comment on his video. The World No. 1 T20I batter expressed his desire to take training from Rashid for the no-look shot.

Sri Lanka put on an impressive performance in the second ODI of three-match series against Afghanistan and defeated the visitors by 132 runs at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium on Sunday ?(June 4).

Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sri Lanka’s innings got off to a great start and was highlighted by some strong batting performances. While Kusal Mendis top-scored for the Islanders and smashed a brilliant 78 runs off 75 balls, Dimuth Karunaratne scored a solid 52 runs off 62 deliveries. Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama also made valuable contributions of 43 and 44 runs, respectively. Other notable contribution for the home team came from Dhananjaya de Silva, whose crucial 29 runs in the end helped Sri Lanka post a ??formidable total of 323/6 in their allotted 50 over?s.

Afghanistan Cricket Board’s Selection Committee has announced a 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka that commences from June 2. Apart from the 15 names, the board also released the list of four reserve players. Notably, the Afghan side on the tour will be led by experienced Hashmatullah Shahidi.

The team also features three bowlers that are currently ranked inside the top ten list of Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings, namely Rashid Khan, Mujib ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi. While Rashid sits at the sixth spot, Mujib and Nabi are placed on the eighth and tenth positions. The trio will be accompanied by Fazalhaq Farooqi and spinner Noor Ahmed.

On the other hand, young all-rounder Abdul Rahman has also been recalled in the national set-up after some impressive performances in Afghanistan’s domestic One Day Competition. Meanwhile, Shahidullah Kamal, Yamin Ahmadzai, Zia Ur Rahman Akbar and Gulbadin Naib are among the reserves.

It is noteworthy t??hat Afghanistan have already qualified for the 50-over World Cup scheduled in India later this year and will look to prepar?e themselves for the ICC event when they tour Sri Lanka.

Afghanistan Cricket Board chairman Mirwais Ashraf believes his side has potential in the form of young players and will look to gain experience for the up?coming World Cup.

“It’s good to have a couple of young faces for the series; the build-up for the ICC Cricket World Cup has already begun, and we are looking for every possible opportunity to build a good combination of the team and prepare them well for the event,”ย Ashraf was quoted saying by ICC.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), on Tuesday, announced the fixtures of their men’s team’s upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan. By engaging in this three-mat?ch ODI leg, the hosts Sri Lanka aim to prioritise their preparations for the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier matches scheduled in Zimbabwe between June and July.

The Afghan team will reach Colombo on May 29 and begin their training session. All the three matches will be played at the MRIC Stadium in?? Hambantota on June 2, 4 and 7 respectively.

“We are pleased with our communications and the outcome of our negotiations with Sri Lanka Cricket regarding this event,” Naseeb Khan, the ACB CEO said in his official statement. “Aside from a thorough ICC Future Tours Program, the ACB is dedicated to arranging more bilateral series with the other boards. We have our sights set on the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, and we are working hard to arrange more bilateral cricket for our National team in the buildup for the event.”

In November last year, Afghanistan vis?ited Sri?? Lanka to compete in a three-match ICC Cricket World Cup Super League ODI rubber against the home team. The series ended in a 1-1 draw with Afghanistan triumphing in the first game by a margin of 60 runs and losing the final match by four wickets. The second ODI was abandoned due to rain.

“Our previous tour to Sri Lanka was an incredible experience in which both countries played competitive cricket, and we are looking forward to engaging in some high-voltage cricket this time as well,” added Khan.
