The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has revealed the men’s squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa, set to commence on September 18 in the UAE. The team will see some key cha??nges, with the absence of crucial ??players like a star batter and talented spinner due to injuries.

Ibrahim Zadran and Mujeeb Ur Rahman unavailable

Afghanistan will miss the services of opener Ibrahim Zadran, who has been ruled out of the series after twisting his ankle ahead of the one-off Test against New Zealand. In his place, the ACB has called up Abdul Malik, a promising young batter who has impressed in domestic List A matches. Star spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman is also unavailable due to a right phalanx sprain and will be replaced by the talented Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar.

“Mujeeb Ur Rahman continues to recover from his injury and is unavailable for selection. Ibrahim Zadran will also miss the South Africa ODIs for twisting his ankle on the edge of the New Zealand Test. However, we have included some of the top-performing youngsters in Abdul Malik and Darwish Rasooli,” said ACB Chief Selector Ahmad Shah S??ulimankhil in an official statement.

Rashid Khan returns

Afghanistan’s squad has been bolstered by the return of ace spinner Rashid Khan, who had missed the previous ODI series against Ireland. His presence will strengthen the bowling attack, which also includes seasoned players like Mohammad Nabi and Fazalhaq Farooqi. The squad remains largely unchanged from the team that played against Ireland, except for the new inclusions of Malik and Darwish Rasooli.

In a significant development, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has appointed India’s Ramakrishnan Sridhar as their men’s team assistant coach for the upcoming series against New Zealand. His appointment is expected to bolster Afghanistan’s coaching setup, and the ACB hinted at the potential for a long-term engagement with Sridhar beyond the upcoming series.

betvisa cricketACB – Cricket Times - betvisa casino //betvisa68.com/2024/08/afghanistans-top-order-batter-receives-5-year-ban-from-all-forms-of-cricket/ Wed, 07 Aug 2024 16:30:15 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=148895

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has handed a five-year ban to top-order batter Ihsanullah Janat, effective immediately, after he was found guilty of breaches of the ACB and ICC Anti-Co?rruption codes.

The charges stem from his involvement in match-fixing during the second edition of the Kabul Premier League (KPL). Known for his potential and having deb?uted for Afghanistan in 2017, Janat has played three Tests, 16 ODIs, and one T20I. This ban represents a significant setback for his career and Afghan cricket as a whole.

Afghanistan Cricket Board bans the player for five years

The ACB stated that Janat violated Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which pertains to the improper influence or efforts to fix any aspect of a match. Janat has admitted to the charges and confessed to his involvement in corrupt activities. This substantial ban marks ??a significant setback for both Janat and Afghan cricket, raising concerns about the integrity of the KPL and casting a shadow over the sport in the country.

“Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which involves improper influence or efforts to fix the result, progress, conduct, or any other aspect of a match. In light of this violation, he has been handed a five-year ban from all cricket-related activities. Janat has admitted to the charges and confessed to his involvement in corrupt activities,” the statement reads

Involvement of more players

Furthermore, the ACB is investigating three additional players for similar m??????????????????????????atch-fixing allegations, heightening concerns about corruption within the sport. The ACB faces the dual challenge of addressing these corruption issues while continuing to foster the growth and development of Afghan cricket.

“The ACB Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has revealed that three other players are also under suspicion for involvement in match-fixing, and investigations are underway. Decisions regarding their involvement will be made upon confirmation of their guilt. The ban on Ihsanullah Janat takes effect immediately with the release of this statement and will remain in place for the next five years,” the statement further added.

Career and statistics

Janat’s career began with a first-class debut against the Netherlands in July 2016, followed by his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in February 2017. His Test debut came against Ireland in March 2?019, and his sole T20I appearance was against Zimbabwe in June 2022. Despite a promising start, including a notable first-cla??ss record of 1,568 runs at an average of 56, the five-year ban disrupts what could have been a flourishing career. Janat’s international statistics include 110 runs in Tests, 307 in ODIs, and 20 in T20Is.

In a significant development within the ongoing season of the Big Bash League (BBL), Melbourne Renegades have taken the decision to exclude Afghan cricketer Mujeeb Ur Rahman from their squad ahead of their upcoming fixture against Melbourne Stars. This decision is a direct consequence of modifications made to the off-spinner’s No-Objection Certificate (NOC) conditions by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB).

The Renegades’ move highlights the impact of administrative changes on player eligibility and team dynamics, shedding light on the complexities in domestic cricket tournaments. Mujeeb’s absence from the squad raises questions about the implications of such alterations to NOC conditions and their ramifications on the team’s composition and strategy.

Reason behind sanctions on Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Mujeeb, alongside pace bowlers Naveen-ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi, recently faced repercussions from ACB following their decision to voluntarily opt out of inclusion in the central contracts list for the year 2024. The sanctions imposed on the trio are substantial, encompassing a two-year ban on obtaining NOCs for participation in T20 leagues and revoking any existing NOCs they may hold. Notably, these three players played pivotal roles in Afghanistan’s stellar performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, making the cricketing body’s punitive measures a topic of considerable discussion within the cricketing community.

What’s next for Mujeeb?

While Naveen and Fazalhaq found a place in the Afghan squad for their ongoing Tour of UAE, the same cannot be said for Mujeeb, who opted to stay in Australia to participate in BBL. ACB’s decision to include Naveen and Fazalhaq in the squad was followed by the players’ proactive communication with the board, expressing a strong desire to represent the national team again.

The intriguing aspect lies in the uncertainty surrounding Mujeeb’s future participation in other T20 leagues, particularly after being acquired by  Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 auction at his bas??e price of Rs 2 cror?e. Overall, whether the 22-year-old will be granted permission to join the two-time champions in IPL 2024 still remains a matter of speculation.

In a noteworthy development, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has taken decisive action by imposing sanctions and deferring the national contracts of three prominent cricketers. These players were integral members of Afghanistan’s squad that participated in the ODI World Cup 2023.

ACB’ strict action

ACB has taken disciplinary action against cricketers Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-Ul-Haq, accusing them of allegedly prioritising personal interests over their commitment to playing for the national team. As a consequence, the organisation has opted to defer their annual central contracts for the year 2024. Additionally, the board has declared a two-year suspension on issuing No-Objection Certificates (NO??Cs) for the trio, including the revocatio??n of any existing NOCs they may currently hold.

This stern decision underscores the ACB’s resolve to ensure players uphold their dedication to representing Afghanistan in international cricket and places a clear emphasis on the repercussions for actions perceived as contrary to the team’s interests.

ACB’ statement

ACB clearly explained that the players’ refusal to sign central contracts due to participation in commercial leagues, prioritising personal interests over national responsibility, led to these developments.

“The insistence on not signing the central contract for these players was their involvement in commercial leagues, prioritising their personal interests over playing for Afghanistan, which is regarded as a national responsibility, by opting for their release, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided to take disciplinary measures against these players,” ACB said as quoted in their statement.

IPL prospect of sanctioned players

Underscoring the IPL prospect of these cricketers, Mujeeb was recently picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction 2024 for INR 2 crore and is currently showcasing his skills in the Big Bash League (BBL) with the Melbourne Renegades. Naveen is associated with the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and Farooqi is retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Afghanistan opener Usman Ghani has decided to take a break from international cricket, citing alleged corruption within the Afghanistan Cricket Board (A?CB). The 26-year-old expressed his frustration after being left out of the Afghanistan tea?m for the recent series against Bangladesh.

Ghani, who last represented Afghanistan in March against Pakistan, scoring 7 and 15,? has been vocal about the current state of affairs within the ACB. He claimed that despite his efforts to meet with officials and seek clarification on his exclusion, he received no satisfactory response.

?Having made his international debut in 2014, Ghani has played 11 T20I innings over the past two years, averaging 23.50 with a strike rate of 99.15. However, he lost his place in the 50-over format in ?2022 and has never been considered for Test cricket.

In a significant move, the Afghanistan team has replaced Ghani with experienced wicketkeeper-batt??er Mohammad Shahzad. Shahzad, who had been absent from international cricket for 19 months, returned after improving his fitness and consistently? performing well in domestic matc?hes.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to take a break from Afghanistan Cricket. The corrupt leadership in the cricket board has compelled me to step back. I will continue my hard work and eagerly await the right management and selection committee to be put in place,” Ghani tweeted.

“Once that happens, I will proudly return to play for Afghanistan. Until then, I am backing myself from representing my beloved nation. Despite multiple visits, I couldn’t meet the chairman as he remained unavailable. Moreover, the chief selector had no satisfactory response for my exclusion from all formats,” he added.
