Pakistan are taking on Ireland in the 36th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The contest is taking place at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida. Pakistan captain Babar Azam has won the toss and opted to bowl first. Notably, thi?s match marks the final game of the tournament for both teams.

With neither team in contention for the Super 8 stage, Pakistan and Ireland are playing for pride in their last group game. A win would take Pakistan to four points, capping off a disappointing tournament, while Ireland a??re seeking their first victory after losses to India and Canada, and a rain-out against the USA.

Naseem Shah and Craig Young miss out

Both teams made a single change to their playing XIs. Pakistan’s pacer Naseem Shah was left out of the final XI, and Ireland similarly excluded Craig Young.

The captains, Babar and Paul Stirling, did not provide specific reasons for the c??hanges, but it appears that team combination influenced these decisions. Pakistan replaced Naseem with Abbas Afridi, while Ireland brought in Benjami?n White instead of Young.

“We’ll have a bowl first. Last three days, the pitch has been covered, little bit moisture on it. As a professional, you need to prepare for every match. We’ll look to play our best today. We have one change. Naseem isn’t playing, Abbas is playing,” said Babar at the toss.

“World Cup brings a different scenario, another great game hopefully. Young misses out today, Ben White is in,” said Stirling.

Montreal Tigers secured a nail-biting victory over Vancouver?? Knights in the Qualifier 2 of the Global T20 Canada 2023. With the victory, the Tigers also secured a berth in the final where they will ??face Surrey Jaguars.

Put in to bat first, Vancouver Knights started their innings on a steady note, with Mohammad Rizwan leading from the front, scoring 39 runs off 33 balls. However, the Knights’ batting struggled to capitalize on the starts, with wickets falling at regular intervals.

All-rounder Corbin Bosch played a brilliant cameo, smashing 36 runs off just 28 balls, but the Knights could only manage to post a modest total of 137/6 in their allotted 20 overs. The Montreal Tigers’ bowlers put up an impressive display, led by Abbas Afridi, who was the pick of the bowlers, scalping five wickets, including a hat-trick and conceding 29 runs in his four-over spell. Ayan Khan and Andre Russell also chipped in with a wicket each, as they kept the Knights’ batsmen in check.

Sherfane Rutherford shines with the willow

Chasing 138 to win, the Montreal Tigers got off to a shaky start, losing wickets early on. However, Sherfane Rutherford played a spectacular innings, rescuing his team from a precarious position. Rutherford’s attacking approach yielded him 48 runs off 34 deliveries, which included two fours and three towering sixes. Dipendra Singh Airee ?provided valuable support, cont?ributing 25 runs from 28 balls.
