Delhi Capitals (DC) delivered a commanding performance on Saturday (March 1) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by nine wickets to become the first team to qualify for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 playoffs. The emphatic win not only confirmed DC’s dominan??ce in the tournament but also set social media buzzing as their admin took a cheeky dig at RCB.

Social media banter heats up WPL 2025 rivalries

The banter between the two franchises began weeks ago when RCB had defeated DC in their earlier encounter, only for Delhi to exact revenge in the most ruthless manner possible. Following their victory, DC took to social media to troll RCB after the Bengaluru-based fr??anchise deleted an old tweet from their previous match.

In the earlier game on February 17 at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara, RCB had beaten DC by eight wickets, prompting their admin to mock Delhi with an “Uno Reverse” response to DC’s pre-match confidence. However, after DC avenged their defeat in the reverse fixture, RCB quickly deleted their tweet, seemingly trying to erase their earlier boast. DC’s social media admin was quick to catch on, posting a screenshot of the deleted tweet and replying with a sarcastic, “Tweet deleted?” The post instantly went viral, g??arnering numerous views within hours, while RCB’s admin?? remained silent on the matter.

Delhi Capitals’ commanding performance leaves RCB reeling

Delhi’s dominant performance on the field was as ruthless as their social media comeback. After winning the toss, RCB opted to bat first and set a target of 147/5 in 20 overs, with Ellyse Perry anchoring the innings. However, RCB’s batting lineup failed to capitalize on a strong start, as DC’s disciplined bowling attack kept the scoring rate in check. Despite some resistance from Perry and Richa Ghosh, RCB?? could not post a formidab??le total, leaving them vulnerable against DC’s powerful batting lineup.

Shafali Verma then took center stage in the chase, blazing her way to a??n unbeaten 80 off just 48 balls, smashing 11 fours and 3 sixes. She was ably supported by captain Meg Lanning, who played a steady knock of 43 runs not out, ensuring that Delhi cruised to victory in just 15.3 overs with nine wickets in hand. The emphatic win not only solidified DC’s position at the top of the? table but also exposed RCB’s struggles, as they succumbed to their fourth consecutive home defeat at at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB’s playoff hopes hang by a thread after four consecutive home defeats

The defending champions, who started their WPL 2025 campaign with two back-to-back wins in Vadodara, have since faced a disastrous run at home. Their four-match losing streak has now pushed them to fourth place in the points table??, making their playoff chances highly uncertain. With just two matches left in the league stage, RCB’s path to the playoffs is now hanging by a thread, and their qualification depends on their ability to bounce back with strong performances in their remaining games.

RCB will next face UP Warriorz on March 8 in Lucknow, followed by a crucial clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 11 in Delhi. They now must win both matches convincingly to keep their playoff hopes alive. Even if they secure victories, their qualification may still depend on the net run rate and the performances of other teams, adding immense pressure on Smriti Mandhana and her squad. With their fo??rm dipping at the? worst possible time, RCB’s road ahead looks extremely challenging.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 witnessed an epic splash between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday. Amongst all the things that were highlighted during the course of this match, the Capitals?latest spin prodigy Nallapureddy Shree Charani has emerged as a ma??jor talking point after her brilliant performance with the bowl against the defending champions o??n her WPL debut.

N. Shree Charani’s remarkable bowling against RCB

The masterclass from Shree Charani started during the 16th over of the RCB innings after DC won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. With Ellyse Perry holding the innings on one end, Raghvi Bisht supported her from the other by that time. Shree Charani broke the partnership with an emphatic delivery which forced her to step forward and go down the track to the bowl. Bisht missed the ball completely which went straight to wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce  who quickly dislodged the bails.

The dominance form Shree Charani did not just end there, she pulled a good-length delivery on the 5th ball of the over which turned on its head. Richa Ghosh, who just scored a boundary on the previous delivery decided to attack the ball and hit it out of the ground. But, it took a thick edge instead and gave away a simple catch to the Capitals skipper Meg Lanning.

However, the Capitals chased down the target effortlessly, reaching 151/1 in just 15.3 overs, with 27 balls to spare. Gujarat Giants (GG) registered a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 12th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, February 28. The game saw some intense moments, including a sensational yorker by Kashvee Gautam that knocked over Richa Ghosh, further tilting the match in Gujarat’s favour.

Gujarat Giants’ smart call at the toss

Winning the toss, Gujarat Giants opted to field first, a decision that proved to be instrumental in restricting RCB’s batting lineup. Their bowlers displayed a disciplined performance, stifling RC??B’s batters and ensuring they couldn’t accelerate at any point during their innings.

RCB’s struggle with the bat

RCB had a rocky start as they lost early wickets, making it difficult for them to build momentum. Wickets at regular intervals never allowed them to break free, despite efforts from Kanika Ahuja, who top-scored with 33 runs. Richa attempted to stabilize the innings, but her stay at the crease was cut sho??rt by a breathtaking de?livery from Kashvee.

Kashvee Gautam’s yorker stuns Richa Ghosh

The defining moment of the first i?nnings came in the 15th over, on the last ball, when Kashvee  delivered a pinpoint yorker. Richa, attempting an off-side drive, failed to bring her bat down in time, resulting in the ball crashing into the off-stump. The Giants?bowler erupted in celebration as the crowd acknowledged her brilliance. Ghosh departed after scoring 9 runs off 10 balls, including one six, leaving RCB struggling to post a competitive total.

RCB managed to put up only 125/7 in their allotted 20 overs, with Tanuja Kanwar (2/16) and Deandra Dottin (2/31) leading the bowling attack for Gujarat. Their tight spells ensured that ??RCB could not reach a par score on a traditionally high-scoring Bengaluru pitch.

Ashleigh Gardner and Phoebe Litchfield seal the chase for Gujarat Giants

Chasing a modest target of 126, Gujarat Giants displayed a composed batting effort. Ashleigh Gardner led the charge with a magnificent 58-run knock, supported by Phoebe Litchfield, who remained unbeaten on 30. Their partnership ensured that Gujarat maintained control throughout the chase. Despite a few hiccups, Gujarat reached the target comfortably in 16.3 overs, finishing at 126/4.

Renuka Singh provided some resi?stance with the ball for RCB, claiming two wickets for 24 runs, but her efforts weren’t enough to prevent GG from sealing the win.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) endured another disappointing outing in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 as they suffered their third consecutive defeat, this time at the hands of Gujarat Giants.

Playing at home in Bengaluru, RCB failed to post a competitive total, managing only 125/7 in their 20 overs. Gujarat, led by a blistering knock from captain Ashleigh Gardner, chased down the target comfortably in just 16.3 overs, securing a com?manding six-wicket victory.

RCB’s batting struggles continue as Gujarat Giants’ bowlers shine

RCB’s batting woes were again evident as they lost early wickets, struggling to build partnerships. Danni Wyatt-Hodge was dismissed for just 4 runs in the first over, while Ellyse Perry followed suit, falling for a duck to Gardner. Skipper Smriti Mandhana, who has been out of form, a?lso fail?ed to make an impact, managing just 10 off 20 balls before falling to Tanuja Kanwar.

The middle-order showed some fight, with Kanika Ahuja (33 off 28) and Raghvi Bist (22 off 19) stitching together a 48-run stand. However, regular wickets towards the end meant RCB could only muster 125/7. Gujarat’s bowling attack was disciplined, with Tanuja Kanwar (2/16) and Deandra Dottin (2/31) leading the charge, while Kashvee Gautam and Gardner also chipped in with a wicket each.

Chasing 126, Gujarat got off to a cautious start, losing Beth Mooney (17) and Dayalan Hemalatha (11) inside the powerplay. Harleen Deol struggled ?before falling for 5, leaving Gujarat at 66/3 in the 10th over. However, captain Gardner took charge, playing a stunning knock of 58 off just 31 balls, smashing six fours and three sixes.

Gardner’s counterattack, along with Phoebe Litchfield’s composed 30 off 21 balls, ensured Gujarat cruised to victory with 21 balls to spare. Georgia Wareham was the only bright spot for RCB with the ball, picking up 2/26, while Renuka Singh also grabbed two wickets. With this win, Gujarat climbed the points table, while RCB’s playoff hopes took a major hit with their third straight loss.

With 4 points in 4 matches, RCB are currently 2nd in the points table and will try to dominate the Giants who are still at the rock bottom ??of the points table struggling to break in much like previous season.

The hosts will rely upon skipper Smriti Mandhana’s ability to score runs on the board along with the all-round capabilities of Ellyse Perry. On the other hand, the Giants are reliant on Ashleigh Gardner and will hope that players like Deandra Dottin and Harleen Deol gain their momentum back for the team.

The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is widely acclaimed for its batting-friendly conditions, making it a favorite venue for high-scoring T20 matches. The pitch offers a consistent bounce, which enables batters to play the?ir shots with confidence and ease. Mumbai Indians (MI) clinched a nail-biting four-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chasing 168, Mumbai reached the target with just one ball to spare, thanks to Amanjot Kaur’s match-winning all-round performance. While Ellyse Perry‘s breathtaking 81 off 43 balls propelled RCB to 167/7, Amanjot’s three wickets and an unbeaten 34* off 27 deliveries proved decisive in MI’s thrilling chase.

Ellyse Perry’s power-packed knock propels RCB to 167/7

RCB’s innings revolved around a magnificent 81 from Perry, who single-handedly steered her side to a competitive total. Smriti Mandhana (26 off 13) provided a fiery start, but wickets tumbled in quick succession as Mumbai’s bowlers applied pressure. Perry, however, displayed immense class, smashing 11 fours and two sixes at an incredible strike rate of 188.37. She anchored the innings while forming crucial partnerships with Richa Ghosh (28 off 25) and Kim Garth (8 not out off 10).

Amanjot emerged as MI’s standout bowler, dismantling RCB’s middle order with figures of 3/22 in three overs. Shabnim Ismail (1/36) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (1/40) were expensive but managed key breakthroughs. Despite Perry’s heroics, RCB fell just short of the 170 mark, leaving MI with a challenging ??but gettable target.

Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet Kaur steady Mumbai Indians’ chase

Mumbai’s chase began with a shaky start as Garth trapped Yastika Bhatia LBW for 8. Hayley Matthews (15 off 10) fell soon after, leaving MI at 66/2 in the powerplay. However, Nat Sciver-Brunt launched a counterattack, smashing a blistering 42 off 21 balls with nine boundaries, keeping Mumbai ahead of the required ra?te. Her innings was cut short by a brillia??nt delivery from Garth, shifting momentum back to RCB.

Harmanpreet Kaur took charge after Sciver-Brunt’s dismissal, playing a captain’s knock of 50 off 38 balls. She timed her innings to perfection, mixing caution with aggression, and stitched a crucial partnership with Amanjot. RCB’s bowlers, led by Georgia Wareham?? (3/21),? fought hard to keep the game in balance, but MI stayed in the hunt as the required rate remained within reach.

Amanjot Kaur holds her nerve to seal a last-over victory

With 24 runs needed off the last three overs, Amanjot and G Kamalini absorbed the pressure and rotated the strike effectively. Amanjot, having already starred wi??th the ball, played a mature knock under pressure, striking two boundaries and two sixes at a crucial strike rate of 125.92. Harmanpreet’s dismissal at 144/5 put MI in a tricky spot, but Amanjot’s composure in the fina?l overs ensured they crossed the line.

RCB had their moments in the match, with Garth (2/30) and Ekta Bisht (1/37) making timely breakthroughs. However, the lack of a death-over specialist hurt them, as MI capitalized on loose deliveries to inch closer to victory. With two needed off two balls, Kamalini calmly guided the ball for a boundary, sealing a famous win for Mumbai Indians and earning herself the Player of the Match award for her exceptional a??ll-round display.

As Mr. Nags began belting? out the male part with gusto, Perry confidently took on the female role, singing the catchy refrain,

“hello my lovely lady, who are u who are u?
kannada barodilva, kaNNeraDu kaaNolva?
kannadkadoLaginda kaaNtide ee anda!
haudeno manmatha, baaymuchkond hogatta..,”

“Hello, my lovely lady, who are you, who are you? Don’t you know Kannada? Can’t you see with both eyes? This beauty seems to be from within Karnataka! Oh, is that so, Mamatha? Will you just stay quiet and leave? I’ll let you go today, thinking you’re a new girl?but I’ll see you again tomorrow,!” The entire performance, filled with ?infectious energy and a? touch of humor, ended on a high note. This memorable musical interlude not only showcased Perry’s versatility beyond her cricketing prowess but also highlighted the fun and spirited camaraderie that makes these moments so beloved by fans.
