Thailand have booked their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2022 after Bangladesh’s last league game against UAE was washed out on Tuesday morning.

Notably, Bangladesh needed two points to finish fourth and take the last?? available semi-final spot, but ?they got only one point from the abandoned game and finished in fifth place on the points table.

the defending champions won only two out of their six games in the multi-team tournament, while Thailand bagged three victories as they defeated UAE, Malaysia, and Pakistan to finish on six points.

Not to forget, Thailand’s success at the global competition has been powered by their openers, Nannapat Koncharoenkai and Natthakan Chantham, along with their inspirational skipper Naruemol Chaiwai. When it comes to the ball, left-arm spinner Thipatcha Putthawong sizzled in the tournament and is among?? the top five wicket-takers with eight scalps to her cr?edit.

The top four line up, though, i??????????????????????????s yet to be decided as Sri Lanka and Pakistan, who have already qualified for the semi-fin??als, will take on each other in their last league game, and a win for either side could remove India from the top spot.

Thailand pulled off a memorable victory over Pakistan at the Women’s T20 Asia Cup match in Sylhet on Thursday. Natthakan Chantham starred with the ??bat in hand as she scored 61 runs off 51 balls to help Thailand win the contest by four wickets.

Chasing 117, Thailand needed ten off six and then eight off five when Rosenan Kanoh hit Diana Baig for a boundary to make it four off four. Nattaya Boochatham eventually got Thailand over the finish line with a s??ingle on the fifth delivery, sparking wild celebrations.

Earlier, batting first, Pakistan posted a modest 116 riding on Sidra Ameen’s 64-ball 56. Meanwhile, Sornnarin Tippoch?? was the pick of the bowlers for Thailand, with figures o??f 2 for 20.

“Very excited. Pakistan are a strong side. We want to beat every team, but at the moment, we just enjoyed our fielding and batting. I want my team to have fun, and the win comes automatically,” Thailand captain Naruemol Chaiwai said after her team’s historic win.

During the final of the Women’s T20 Challenge 2020 in Sharjah, Trailblazers’ Nattakan Chantam came up with a stunning effort that was certain to catch the at?tention of the cricketing world.

The first cricketer from Thailand to feature in the Women’s T20 Challenge, Chantam produced a jaw-dropping effort to save two runs for her side.

Chasing an outside edge off Jemimah Rodrigues’ bat, Chantam gave it her all to prevent the ball from reaching the boundary line. Sophie Ecclestone was the bowler.

That effort came in the second over as Supernovas were chasing Trailblazers’ 118 for eight wickets in 20 overs at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The video clip of Nattakan has since gone viral and won praise from many, including contemporary players like England’s Kate Cross. “Worth it for this piece of fielding though,” Kate wrote while commenting on a tweet that attached the video of Nattakan’s effort.

“I just saw a boundary save in the women’s T20 challenge from Chantam that was as good as anything I saw in 59 IPL matches this season!” tweeted commentator Joy Bhattacharjya.

Later in the Supernovas’ innings, Nattakan took a brilliant catch at cover-point to help Deepti Sharma in dismissing the dangerous Jemimah. Supernovas were eventually restricted to 102 for seven wickets in 20 overs, which gave Trailblazers’ their maiden title with a 16-run victory.
