Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah, who has returned to the Test side, took fans down memory lane as he produced a Shane Warne-like ‘Ball of the Century’ to dismiss Kusal Mendis on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test against Sri Lanka.

It all happened during the 56th over of Sri Lanka’s second innings when Yasir came up with the unplayable delivery. He pitched the red leather well outside the leg stump, which turned big, completely squaring up the batter and hitting the top of the off stump.

Mendis did all he could as he was looking to play the line, but it was literally impossible for anyone to handle that much turn. No wonder the stunning dismissal reminded fans of the popular ‘Ball of the Century’ bowled by late Aussie spinner Warne.

Notably, Warne accomplished the feat during the first Ashes Test against England at Manchester back in 1993. Warne’s ball landed wide of leg and spun so much that it knocked over the off-stump of batter Mike Gatting.

Here is the video:

Yasir’s dismissal, however, did not impact much as Sri Lanka managed to pile up runs in the second innings to swell their lead to over 300 runs.

Yasir bagged three wickets while pacer Mohammad Nawaz claimed a 5-wicket haul, but half-centuries from Oshada Fernando, Dinesh Chandimal and Mendis took the I?slanders past 300. Sri Lanka eventually were bundled o??ut for 337 and gave Pakistan the target of 342 runs. Chandimal remained unbeaten on 94 off 139 deliveries.

The PCB chief asserted that he was not aware of the exact? truth behind the allegation levied on Yasir but admitted that such headlines are not good for the overall health of Pakistan cricket, especially at times?? when the national team is doing well across formats.

Pakistan’s leg-spinner Yasir Shah once again proved why he is considered one of the best leggies of modern-day cricket. The right-armer displayed yet anothe??r spectac??ular performance for his nation in the whites.

On Day 3 of the ongoing first Test against South Africa at the National Stadium in Karachi,?? Yasir guided his side to make a comeback with back-to-back dismissals in the last session. The 34-year??-old bowled 24 overs and picked up three wickets for 53 runs.

Yasir first removed Dean Elgar (29) in the 17th over and provided the first breakthrough to his team. Then, Aiden Markram (74) and Rassie van der Dussen (64)?? stabilized th?e innings by forming a much-needed partnership.

The pair went on to add 127 runs ??for the second wicket before Yasir broke the stand by sending van Dussen back to the pavilion in the 68th over.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa-lad didn’t just stop there as three overs later, he dismissed new batsman Faf du Plessis (10) to reduce South Africa to 185/3. The much anticipated Boxing Day Test match between New Zealand and Pakistan started on Saturday with the tourists winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi justified his captain’s decision by giving NZ early blows. He dismissed both the Kiwi openers Tom Latham (4) and Tom Blundell (5), reducing the hosts to 13/2.

However, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor turned arou?nd things with the??ir defensive batting approach. The duo formed a game-changing 120-run partnership for the third wicket to frustrate Pakistan bowlers.

Taylor got out after a superb knock of 70 runs, but Pakistan failed to create pressure on the home team as Henry Nicholls joined hands with his skipp??er Williamson to end the Day 1 without losing a wicket anymore.

Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah did bowl well but could not pick any wicket. No wonder he looked angry and unhappy. A glimpse of such was seen in?? the 77th over the innings when the leg-spinner bowled a good delivery that beat Nicholls.

Mohammad Rizwan collected the ball behind the wickets; however, there was no edge. This annoyed Yasir, and he was caught shouting, “Out ho jaa bhoo*** ke.” (Get out man).

Williamson drives Black Caps to 222/3 on Day 1

New Zealand are in a strong position after losing a couple of early wickets. Apart from Taylor, Williamson yet again looked in supreme touch. He played some attractive shots and completed his 33rd half-century. With that Williamson equalled former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming’s record of most fifty-plus scores in Test cricket for the Black Caps.

Most fifty-plus scores for New Zealand:

  • 55 ?Kane Williamson (82 matches)*
  • 55 ?Stephen Fleming (111 matches)
  • 53 ?Ross Taylor (104 matches)

At stumps, Williamson was unbeaten on 94 while Nicholls was not out on 42 as the Kiwis r??eached 222/3.

Pakistan fans are bracing themselves up to witness their team taking the field against England next month for the historic Test and T20I series amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Pakistan will play three Tests and as many T20Is on?? Engli?sh soil.

All the matches are scheduled to be played behind closed doors, and the players will reside in a bio-s??ecure environment during the series??. These matches will also feature fresh ICC rules like the ban on saliva, etc.

Ahead of the Test series which will begin from August 5, Pakistan’s magical leg-spinner Yasir Shah has ?revealed his ?desire of scoring a Test century in England.

In December 2019, Yasir smashed a Test ton at the?? Adelaide Oval. He had s??cored 113 runs during that game.

While speaking t??o the media on Tuesday, the leggie revealed that he is focusing a lot on his batting ??these days.

“Googly and leg-breaks are my weapons. I am concentrating on my batting as well and will try to score a hundred in England. I am consistently practising my skills as a batsman in the nets,” said Yasir.

Yasir also expressed that Pakistan’s pace unit has all the ability to give a hard time to England batsmen.

“I am hopeful for a good showing in the series against England. The weather and conditions will help Pakistan. Calling our players inexperienced is not completely true. Our young bowlers have been performing really well. Mohammad Abbas has experience playing county cricket. There are a lot of expectations from Shaheen Shah. We will get an advantage because of the swing on offer in England,” the 34-year-old added.

Speaking about his b?owling and return after the injury, Yasir stated that the bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed has guided him pretty well. ??He articulated that his form was affected by the injury, but now his confidence is back.

“My performance was impacted by my injury. I have worked really hard to come back. My confidence is back, and I am satisfied with my bowling. Bowling Coach, Mushtaq Ahmed is giving me his undivided attention. Having him back with the team has been very beneficial. Expectations increase with good performances. I will try to reach those expectations,” concluded Yasir.

Pakistan’s Yasir Shah stole the limelight on the third day of the Pink Ball Test as he scored a mesmerizing ton against the hosts Australia.

Shah also ventured his name in the re??cord books as he became the eighth Pakistani and first after the 1990s to score a century at the Adelaide Oval?.

The 33-year has revealed that he envisioned himself scoring a ton before the start ?of the play.

“When we were on our way to the ground in the morning, I had this thought in my mind that I will bat throughout the day,” said Shah.

“And if I bat throughout the day, I will make a century. That was exactly what I was talking to my friends Naseem Shah and Muhammad Musa about this morning. Then, I went to the nets and batted and kept thinking about batting throughout the day,” he added.

Before reaching his?? hundred, Shah was dropped by Marnus Labuschagne on 43. However, the leg-spinner capitalized the opportunity and scored his maiden Test century.??

Yasir celebrated the feat by jumping in the air and waving his bat l??ike a helicopter towards the crowd.

“I tried my best to make sure I spend a lot of time at the crease. When you do that, you get set, and you find batting becomes easier. It’s tough against this world-class Australian bowling attack, and to score a century against them was good,” said Shah.

Speaking about the match, Australia has defeated Pakistan by an innings and 48 runs, and it’s a series whitewash.

By such a clinical performance, the Aussies have earned 120 points, and are now at the secon??d position with 176 points in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

David Warner was named the ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’ for his scores of 154 and 335 in the two Tests.

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram came down hard on the Pakistan team after seeing their fielding blunders in the ongoing Pink ball Test against Au??stralia at the Adelaide Oval.

Akram was left fuming at what he saw from the Pakistani fielders on Day 1 with the ??hosts once again gaining an upper hand ?after a dominating performance with the bat in their first innings.

Australia scored 302/1 at stumps on the opening day with David Warner?? and Marnus Labuschagne taking the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners with their twin tons.

Akram was particularly unimpressed with Shaheen Afridi’s fielding effort with the fast bowler gifting four extra runs to the Aussies with an overthrow in the 24th over of the first innings.

Here’s the video:

“Shaheen Shah was in la-la land at fine leg,” Wasim Akram, who is on commentary duty for the series, said.

“Yasir Shah and Shan Masood were probably yawning. That’s the problem with Pakistan cricket. They should be on the ball.

“Nobody was backing up and you as a fielder, it doesn’t matter how inexperienced you are, you set yourself, new batsman in, they just came out, I’ll probably start five-ten yards inside the boundary line not on the boundary,” Akram added.

Warner continued the rich vein of home form on Day 2 in Adelaide as he brought u??p his second Test double-hundred off 260 balls with a single on the leg-side.
