Amid global pandemic, cricket is slowly maki?ng its return as some T20 leagues have started in different parts of the world. Even at the international arena, the captivating game is all set to resume from July 8 when England and West Indies will face each other in the first game of the three-match Test series at Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka also began the UVA T20 Premier League which kicked-off from Monday (June 29, 2020). Four t??eams Monaragala Hornets, Unilions Mahiyanganaya, Badulla Sea Eagles and Wellawaya Vipers were expected to ??compete in the tournament as the opening day witnessed two matches.

However, the disappointing news for fans is that after the completion ??of two games, the tournament has been cancelled. As per reports, the legal team of Sri Lanka Cricket (S?LC) unauthorised the competition. The decision is surprising as the board itself had earlier approved the UVA Premier League.

Earlier, it was also reported that famous Lankan players like Farveez Maharoof, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Thilan Thushara, Dasun Shanaka and Ajantha Mendis would show their magic in the T20 league. Although they didn’t play in the first two matches.

In fact, Maharoof clarified the rumours on Sunday stating that he is not playing the league and the news regarding ?his participation is fake.

It’s not the first time that a tournament in Sri Lanka has been cancelled. A few days ago, the PDC T10 League was scheduled to begin from June 25, and players like Nuwan Kulasekara and Ajantha Mendis were reportedly set to feature in it. Even then, the SLC had claimed that the organisers hadn’t sought the required permission for the tournament.

Amid coronavirus pandemic fo??llowed by worldwide lockdown, cricketers are revealing their favourite players from across the teams by coming up with the best XI or all-time XI ??of different formats.

Recently, Dinesh Chandimal had disclosed his all-time Test XI featuring some legendary players. No??w following the pattern, another Sri Lankan veteran Tillakaratne Dilshan ??has selected his all-time ODI XI.

Dilshan picked three players from his country, two from West Indi?es, Australia and South Africa, and one each from India and Pakistan. The only Indian that Dilshan went for is the batting phenom, Sachin Tendulkar. The Kalutara-born chose Tendulkar as the opener along with another great Lankan batter Sanath Jayasuriya.

Tendulkar is the highest run-scor??er in ODIs with as many as 18,426 runs to his name in? 463 games, while Jayasuriya is the second-best run-getter for Sri Lanka having scored 13,430 runs in 445 ODI matches.

Next two on Dilshan’s list was West Indies’ genius batsman Brian Lara and former Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene. Lara has played 299 games for the Caribbean team and accumulated 10,405 runs whereas Jayawardene is the fifth-highest run-getter in ODI format with as many as 12,650 runs in his account.

Former Aust?ralian captain Ricky Ponting and former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis have been given the responsibility to enhance the middle order. Dilshan also went for Ponting as the leader of his best ODI ?XI.

Dextrous batsman AB de Villiers was picked as the wicket-keeper by Dilshan. The former Proteas captain has ama??ss?ed 9577 runs in ODI cricket.

Among bowlers, Dilshan picked legendary Courtney Walsh and Wasim Akram as the speedsters in his team. Walsh has taken 227 wicke?ts in 205 games while Akram has 502 scalps to his na?me second highest in the history of ODI cricket.

Wh??en it comes to spinners, Dilshan went for two all-time great bowlers. He picked Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne. Murali hol?ds the record of bagging the maximum number of wickets in ODI format. He has taken 534 scalps in 350 matches. Warne, on the other hand, has appeared in 193 games and bagged 293 wickets.

Here is Tillakaratne Dilshan’s all-time ODI XI:

Sanath Jayasuriya, Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Mahela Jayawarde?ne, Ricky Ponting (captain), J??acques Kallis, AB de Villiers (wk), Wasim Akram, Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan, Courtney Walsh.

betvisa888Tillakaratne Dilshan – Cricket Times - betvisa888 cricket bet //betvisa68.com/2020/05/5-batsmen-with-most-dismissals-at-single-digit-scores-in-t20is/ Sat, 02 May 2020 13:40:41 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=41072

The shortest format in the game of cricket, i.e. T20 was first introduced in England back in 2003 with the inter-county competition. After the success, the first Men’s T20 international was held between Australia and New Zealand on February 17, 2005, at Eden Park in Auckland. Since then, world cricket has witnessed numerous T20Is.

Undoubtedly the shortest format has changed the dynamics of cricket. It has given birth to quite a few domestic T20 tournaments such as Indian Pre?mier League (IPL) and Big Bash League (BPL). These kinds of competitions have not only given the window to players from around the world to sharpen up their skills but also e?ntertained fans across the world who could see their favourites playing in the same team.

Over the years, the shortest format has seen some of the most exceptional batsmen amassing a mountain of runs by taking the bowlers to the cleaners. The likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers are few who have completely dominated the T20 format. However, there have been few batsmen who have gone out pretty early. Some batsmen have not been able ??to cross the double-digit in T20Is for several times in their career.

Let’s have a look at five batsmen who were dismissed the maximum number of times in single-digits (batting in top-5 positions):

5.) William Porterfield 25

William Porterfield

William Porterfield, a left-handed top-order batsman an?d outstanding fielder in the cordon debuted in 2008 during a T20I game against Scotland. Since then, the Irish batsman has played 61 T20Is and scored 1079 runs with a strike-rate of 111.

The 35-year-old who is also a member of prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has been dismissed without reaching the double-figure for 25 times in the shortest format of the game which is the fifth most in the history of T20 inte??rnationals.

4.) Ross Taylor, David Warner 27

Ross Taylor-David Warner

Two of the most breath-taking batsmen in the present era, Ross Taylor and David Warner, need no introduction as to wha?t kind of potential they have. Being the neighbours, both Kiwi an??d Aussie players, have been a valuable asset for their respective teams.

Taylor has so far played 100 T20I games and scored 1909 runs, while Warner has appeared in 79 T20Is and accumulated 2207 runs. When it comes to getting out? on single-digit scores, then both Taylor and Warner have been out for 27 times without touching the double-figure? mark.

3.) Tillakaratne Dilshan 28

Tillakaratne Dilshan

When Tillakaratne Dilshan invented the ‘Dil Scoop’ it literally changed the concept of run-scoring technique. The shot is so complicated and unique that most of the batters have not even tried playing in their careers.
For those who aren’t aware, a ‘Dil Scoop’ is a stroke where a batsman goes on to one knee against a good length or slightly short of length delivery off a fast or medium-paced bowler and hits the ball over the head of the wicketkeeper.

In 80 T20Is, Dilshan has amassed 1889 runs with 13 fifties and one hundred. For 28 times in the shortest format, Dilshan wasn’t able to reach the double-digit.

2.) Kevin O’Brien â€?30

Kevin O'Brien

Another Irish batsman in the list is none other than Kevin O’Brien. The talented batter has accumulated 1672 runs in 96 T20 internationals. He has also smashed three half-centuries and one hundred in the shortest format.

On 30 occasions,?? the Dublin-bor??n has reached only a single-digit in his career.

1.) Rohit Sharma 34

Rohit Sharma

The topper of the list is India’s Rohit Sharma who is regarded as one of the finest limited-overs batsmen of modern-day cricket. The ‘Hitman’ who recently celebrated his 33rd birthday is the second-highest run-scorer in T20 internationals after his teammate Virat Kohli.

In 108 matches, Rohit has accumulated 2773 runs with 21 fifties and four centuries. the Mumbaikar also leads in th??e unwanted list of batsmen with most single-digit scores. Rohit has gone out without reaching the double-figures in T20Is for the record 34 ?times.

The all-star Sri Lankan team handed the Australian legends a seven-run defeat in ??the second match of the Road Safety World Series, held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Captain Tillakaratne Dilshan, opening with Romesh Kaluwitharan??a, gave a trademark flying start against the domestic legends of Australia. Classical batsman Marvan Attapatu came in to bat after Lankans lost Dilsh??an in the fourth over.

Contributions from Chamara Kadupegara and Farvez Maharoof down the order helped Sri Lanka post? a total of 161/8 on the board.

Off spin trio of Jason Krejza, Xavier Doherty, and Brad Hodge were the picks of the bowlers as they picked a couple of wickets?? each.

Coming out to bat, it wa??s only a one-sided effort from the Australian stalwart Nathan Reardon. The rest of t??he batting order tumbled around him as the southpaw held one end up.

Reardon single-handedl?y ran the Lankans close without any support at the other end, playing a sensational knock of 96 off?? just 58 deliveries.

Unfortunate to miss out on his ton, and not to get his team across the finishing line, Reardon smack??ed nine boundaries and five maximums in his knock.

The Aussie batsmen yet again displayed their inefficacy against spin in subcontinental conditions. They had no answer to Dilshan, Rangana Herath, and Sachitr?a Senanayake, who shared six wickets amongst themselves.

Eight of the batsmen glaringly could not get into double-figures. In the end, despite Reardon’s heroics, Sri Lanka legends ended up on the winning side by a narrow 7-run margin.

Brief Scores

Sri Lanka Legends 161/8 (20)
Romesh Kaluwitharana 30(26), Chamara Kapugedera 28(18)
Xavier Doherty 2/28, Brad Hodge 2/18

Australia Legends 154/10 (19.5)
Nathan Reardon 96(53),
Tillakaratne Dilshan 3/35, Rangana Herath 2/5

Tillakaratne Dilshan is only the second Sri La??nkan batsman after Sanath Jayasuriya and fourth overall to hit 6 boundaries in a single over in One Day cricket. His moment came against the Australian speedster Mitchell Johnson during a match at Sydney Cricket Gro??und (SCG) in the ICC World Cup 2015.

Johnson came in to bowl the sixth over of th??e second innin??gs, with Dilshan on strike.

TM Dilshan, Mitchell Johnson

The first ball of the over was driven ??back past the bowler for the first boundary of the over. The next ball was very similar, with another boundary down the ground. Johnson followed up by bowling one a bit short, which Dilshan swung away through midwicket. Johnson banged o?ne in short, and Dilshan responded by pulling him over square leg. The fifth ball was hammered away through covers before the last ball was played gracefully through the same area as Dilshan scored 24 off the over.
