The Champions Trophy 2025 campaign for India got off to a dream start as the team put up a dominating show against Bangladesh in their first encounter of the tournament at the Dubai International Stadium. A marquee moment of India’s dominance with the bowl against Bangladesh came when Mohammed Shami managed to pull together a sensational delivery to dismiss Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar during the initial moments of the first innings.

Mohammed Shami’s remarkable delivery marks the end of Soumya Sarkar

The incident took? place on the last ball of the first over after Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Shami troubled the Bangladeshi opener throughout the over with his impeccable seam movement and lethal line and length. The fruit of his brilliant over came on the final ball as he pitched a good-length outside off stump to Sarkar.

The right-handed batter, who struggled against Shami during the first 5 balls, completely mistimed the incoming ball and edged it into the hands of wicket-keeper KL Rahul. Sarkar’s wick?et opened the floodgates of dismissals for Bangladesh as Indian bowlers decimated the?? entire Bangladeshi top-order.

The 2nd T20I match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium witnessed a controversial umpiring decision that has sparked debate within the cricketing communit??y. The Decision Review System (DRS) once again came under scrutiny as the third umpire made a crucial error during the game.

Soumya Sarkar’s disputed dismissal

In the fourth over of Bangladesh’s innings, Soumya Sarkar was dismissed after the on-field umpire raised his finger to signal his dismissal. Sarkar had nicked a short-pitched delivery from Sri Lankan pacer Binura Fernando, prompting him to opt for a review immediately. Despite initial doubts, the big screen replay clearly showed a spike on the ultra-edge as the ball passed the bat, indicating a clear e??dge.

Third umpire controversy

However, the third umpire, Masudur Rahman, controversially suggested that the spike could have been caused by an external sound and claimed there was a discernible gap between the bat and ball. Despite the spike occurring after the ball had passed the bat, Rahman chose to overturn the decision, leading to a heated reaction from the Sri ??Lankan players.

betvisa casinoSoumya Sarkar – Cricket Times - betvisa888 //betvisa68.com/2020/06/liton-das-and-soumya-sarkar-reveal-an-interesting-story-behind-their-jersey-numbers/ Mon, 08 Jun 2020 13:27:00 +0000 //betvisa68.com/?p=42719

Bangladesh cricket has produced many legendary players in the past. Stars like Habibul Bashar, Shakib-al-Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe Mortaza have contributed a lot in changing the dynamics of Bangladesh cricket. Due to these vast names, the sub-continent nation has become a dominant force at home, and over the ye?ars, it has made a significant impact in ICC events as well.

The legacy of the abovementioned legendary p?layers is expected to carry on by talents like Soumya Sarkar, and Liton Das, the two young guns of the Bangladesh squad. Meanwhile, these future celebutantes have revealed?? an interesting story behind their jersey numbers.

Starting with Das, his jersey number is 16. However, it wasn’t always the case. During the interaction with Cricfrenzy, Das said that his original choice for a jersey number was,’ 02′, but it couldn’t happen as Mortaza already owns the number.

Das disclosed the actual reason regarding why he wanted to have the jersey with’ 02′ on his back.

“When I first played in domestic cricket, my jersey No was 02. And there was a reason behind this. The reason is, when I played my first game with a cricket ball, I scored two runs. So I chose two as my jersey No,” said Das.

The 25-year-old further said that when he got the chance to play in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), he thought now he could wear the jersey with’ 02′ in the league. But yet again, Das couldn’t wear it as Mortaza was in his BPL team as well. The pair played for the Comilla franchise.

So after realising that he won’t be able to wear the ’02’ number jersey, Das decided to go with jersey number 19 in the T20 league.

“I, therefore, asked my mother what I will wear, she told me to wear whatever I like. I then chose 19 for BPL”, the Dinajpur-born added.

However, finally, Das stopped his search for numbers at ’16’. He chose the digit because it was his birth date.

“Later I decided that since my birthday is on the 16th, my jersey number will be 16. And that’s fixed now, and I will hold on to it as long as I play cricket,” Das added further.

After Das, Soumya also stated his story. The 27-year-old said he got his lucky jersey number quite easily. Soumya specified that while he was at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP), his credit number was 459. So, Soumya basically cut 4 and kept ?9′ as his jersey number.

“My credit number at BKSP was 459. Initially, I preferred No 459, but it’s difficult to put three digits in a jersey. So I skipped 4 and took the last two digits (59), that is why my jersey No is 59,” said Soumya.

Bangladesh cricket, of-late, produced an array of world-class left-handers ??who bolstered their batting line-u?p.

The likes of Tamim Iqbal, Shakib al Hasan, Mominul Haque, Imrul Kayes are some of them. Howev??er, one of the most elegant stroke makers in? Bangladesh’s batting arsenal is Soumya Sarkar, who plays some of the most gorgeous cricketing shots on the off-side.

Sarkar recently opened up about his first cricketing idol before fully understanding the game. The southpaw named the popularly acclaimed ‘God of the Off-Side? Sourav?? Ganguly as his first cricketing idol.

“My life’s first cricket hero was Sourav Ganguly. I was a fan of him even before I understood cricket fully. One day m?y brother said, ‘You will be a left-handed batsman like Ganguly and bowl right-arm medium pace? I’m not a natural left-hander, I ??started it after my brother’s advice. Except batting, I do all my work with the right-hand,?Sarkar told bdnews.24.

“I used to watch Sourav play on TV along with my brother. That time, an India-?Pakistan game had a separate fanbase. While growing up, I became a fan of his cover-drive. And hitting the spinners by stepping out was incredible,?added Sarkar.

Sarkar then recalled ?the f?an-boy moment when he finally got the opportunity to meet his idol when he visited Kolkata during his U16 days. The 27-year-old revealed that he could not help but only stare at his idol, ‘Dada?

Over a period of time, Sarkar became obsessed with the batting of Yuvraj Singh and his style of play. Further, Sarkar tagged Yuvi as his favourite cricketer after gro??wing up.

“After growing up, Yuvra??j Singh became my favourite cricketer. I loved his aggressive style of batting from the word go. He used to change the course of the game pretty quickly. He didn’t spare anyone and was fearless. Even I wish to play like him,?Sarkar concluded.

Carrying forward their momentum from a thumping 3-0 whitewash in the ODI series, hosts Bangladesh beat Z?imbabwe in the first T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Mon?day.

Usual suspects, Tamim Iq??bal and Liton Das continued their purple patch by providing an explosive start at the top. Befor??e Iqbal perished on 41, Bangladesh crossed 90 within ten overs.

Das impressed yet again with his knock of 59, which? came off just 33 deliveries, scoring eight l?ip-smacking boundaries (5 fours, 3 sixes).

However, the innings belonged to Soumya Sarkar, who pushed the Bangladesh total to 200, with his fine?? unbeaten knock of 62 off just 32 deliveries.

Sarkar, scoring at a fierce strike rate of 193, hit four boundaries and five sixes during his knock. Bangladesh posted anothe??r daunting target of 201 in front of the hapless Zimbabwe line-up.

Yet again, it was the overdependen?ce on Sikander Raza down the order, which cost Zimbabwe the match. None of the batsmen were able to anchor the run-chase with a substantial knock.

Raza, who looked in a flashy form off-late, had a rare failure on tour. For the bowlers, it wa??s the lethal combination of Mustafizur Rahman and leg-spinning all-rounder Aminu??l Islam, who shined for Bangladesh. Both picked three wickets each during their spell.

Tight bowling from Mohammad Saifuddin, Shia Islam, and Mehedi Hasan bottled the Zimbabwe batters? under pressure. As a result, Bangladesh won the match comfortably by 48 runs, after bundling out Zimbabwe on 152.

One of the mos?t graceful left-handers produced by the Tigers, Sarkar, walked away with the Man?? of the Match title as the hosts lead the 2-match series by 1-0.

Brief Scores

Bangladesh 200/3(20 overs) beat Zimbabwe 154/10(20 overs) by 48 runs

Bangladesh all-??rounder S??oumya Sarkar started a new inning on Wednesday when he got hitched to Prionti Debnath Puja.

The wedding ceremony took place in Khulna with all the rituals in the presence of local VIPs and few members from the cricket fraternity. Puja, who hails from Tutpara in Khulna, passed her ‘O’ level examination this year from an English medium school in Dhaka.

However, Sarkar’s wedding was marred with an unpleasant incident taking place and the 27-year-old had to face embarrassment and trouble even on the most memorable day of his life.

Well, the happy occasion was disrupted by a scuffle over the theft of as many as seven mobile phones, though the police later arrived at the spot and brough?t the situation under control

BDCricTime reported that all the seven cell phones belonged to the bridegroom’s side including one of Soumya’s father. The culprits were, however, caught red-handed but a big brawl started with the suspects attacking the player’s family. Also, the media persons present at the venue were stopped from capturing the incident.

Soumya skipped the recently concluded one-off Test against Zimbabwe in Mirpur which the hosts won by an innin?gs and 106 runs and will not play in the ??first two ODIs of the three-match series beginning from March 1.

The all-rounder has so far played 15 Tests, 55 ODIs and 48 T20Is for Bangladesh after making his debut in 20?14.
